   Actaully it depends on the training and education of the nanny. I get $12.50 an hour because I have medical background certifications and years of experience.

   It depends on the age of the nanny/babysitter and what the income is in the area you live. Look in your local paper to see what people are paying for nannies. For 4 hours a week, I would say $40-$50 is more than enough. But, if you find a highschool or college student, then probably $5 an hour.

   I would start with a base rate of $10 an hour.

   One thing that has become popular has been to pay a nanny to save the day For example, say you pay the babysiter $10 per hour when she works, but then add a $20 tip to save thursday nights (or whatever night – usually not friday or saturday or you have to pay more) You pay her the $20 whether you have her babysit that night or not. And then of course pay her the normal $10 per hour. But this way you can have a night out to do what you need, to go out, go shopping, see a movie etc. You won’t be stuck calling babysitter after babysitter trying to find someone who has the night open.
