Bella asked:

What do you do if you work as a nanny for a family that gives you no paid sick days? You know that if you call in sick on a day that you really need to rest you aren’t going to get paid.

Then, the mom calls you from work every once in a while and asks you to pick up one of the kids from school early because she kind of isn’t feeling well, It’s not that bad, she just doesn’t feel like being at school and I want her to be able to rest.

How do you react to the hypocracy of this person who wants you to drop everything to cater to her semi-sick kid but doesn’t care about you when you’re really sick? Do you say anything? Quit your job? Be passive agressive and take an extra long time to pick up the kid in a silent protest? Decide to start napping on the job?

What would your reaction be?
hmmm… so far no one’s really answering the question of what they would do.

I wonder who will be the first person to put themselves in the shoes of a nanny.

What Kind of Dog Should I get?

Gucci Queen asked:

I am a kid. I live with my 3 year old brother, my cat, my mom, and my nanny. We have a small-medium sized yard. I want a small dog. Something I can easily pick up. Also, I need a dog that is not that snippy, and that is hypoallergenic. I am thinking about a bichon, but I am open to other breeds to!

girliegirlkl asked:

On July 5th I am starting a nanny job but have no idea what to charge them. It will be live in and they have two boys both under age of 3 and in diapers. I would be working Monday through Friday. The hours range from 5 hours a day to 10 hours a day. How much should I charge them? Whats the average? I need to figure out a weekly rate because we agrred thats how I would be paid. Thanks for any help!

Alfalfa asked:

Hey, I have a question. I have Net Nanny on my computer and it blocks BitTorrent and all torrent downloaders when I try to run them for being Peer-2-Peer. I was wondering if there was a way to get around that without permanently deleting Net Nanny. My paretns specifically said they wouldn’t put the password on this computer. I already tried the cntrl+alt+delete method and that didn’t work.

Much appreciated, thanks.

celeste asked:

The kids I nanny are 3 and 5, boy and girl, respectively. In the past two weeks they’ve picked up two annoying habits. The first, using potty words (literally, like poopy-head, poop-poop, pee-pee, etc.) just while they’re playing, or even calling these names to their parents and very seldom myself)… the second thing is repeating. This is mostly with the older one, but of course the younger one has picked it up from her. e.g. It’s time to get dressed, Sarah, I’ll say… It’s time to get dressed, Sarah, she’ll repeat… gets quite annoying. Initially I just ignored both the potty words and the repeating, but then it started to get a bit worse, and what do you do when they are repeating what each other are saying or calling each other potty words and then one complains that the other is tormenting them? So I began telling them to stop, giving them warnings for time-outs, then actual time-outs, etc. But it doesn’t seem to be helping, and you can’t really give a time-out when you’re late running out the door for school (nor is it effective to give like 30 time-outs a day). So here are the two methods I’m looking at trying for next week… let me know if either sounds good, or if you have another suggestion:

1) BACK TO IGNORING (and when they have fights about calling each other poopy-head or repeating what each other are saying, I will just not acknowledge these… or try not to… hmmmm…)

2) JAR OF MARBLES (go Nanny-911 on them. I’d really prefer not to go to this extreme, but I could get two jars with their names on them. For good/nice things they do, e.g. clean up toys, be nice to their sibling, use manners, I will add a marble to their jars… but for negative things e.g. repeating, potty words, hitting, etc. they loose a marble from the jar. I talked with the Dad about this and he thinks it’s a good idea… but yeah, I think it would be better to avoid this ‘extreme’. The benefit though is that they get some tangible positive reinforcement too)

Thanks!
