I am currently using a nanny share with a friend of mine. I use her 3-4 days a week, my friend uses her 5 days a week and when she has both of our children she gets paid $20 an hour ($10 each) and when they are separate she charges $12. Today she asked us for a raise. I am a little confused, almost dumbfounded that she did. She has only been with us since mid October. I was so taken aback that I told her I would talk it over with my husband and get back to her. I asked Ashley if she asked her too and she said no. But I am usually the first to pick my son up, so maybe she thought I would just tell her? Is she only wanting more money from me? I don’t understand why she would only ask me, my son is 10 months where my friends is only 5, and my son is relatively easy compared to hers.
I would be more than happy to offer her a dollar raise (each, my friend and I discussed this) after she has been with us for year, but I think it is a little too soon to be asking for more money.

Question: How do I tell her no without loosing her as a sitter?
*******my friends son is 5 MONTHS old.
And this is done from our homes, one week at my friends house the other week at my house so our children will have the comfort of their own homes once in a while. We live only a block away from eachother.
Christaboobooface, you are insane.

thats how much most people pay 15 year old baby sitters. of course nannys deserve more than that, my mom paid my nanny 40$ an hour. course my nanny was like taking over for my mom…

I was thinking about this recently.. I was wondering do you give a raise after 6 months, and if so, how much?
I think its too soon, and I’d be looking for another nanny just in case.

I would look for another nanny, she agreed on the hourly fare when she started ,didn´t she? it has only been 3 months!!! and maybe it is just me, but isn´t 20 dollars per hour a lot???here in Europe nobody pays more than 5 euros
