Around 11,000 babies are born daily in the United States. Each and every one of them is at risk of child abuse. Lest you think that your child will not be one of them, remember that child abuse also happens outside the protective shelter of your home. It can happen in schools, in malls, in day care centers, in offices, and even in a venue as sacred as a church itself.

Child Abuse Defined

To make any allegations of child abuse stick, the age of the abused must be firmly established to be less than 18 years. Usually, the age is usually determined at the time of the commission of the crime, even if the abused is of age at the time of trial. If your hidden spy cams have dates features, then you can better establish date of commission of the crime and the exact age of the child.

That being said, child abuse is the commission of physical, sexual, and psychological maltreatment of a child by an adult. It is also the omission of acts to look after the welfare of a child. In both cases, the child is exposed to actual and possible physical and emotional harm.

Perpetrators (or Perverts)

Generally speaking, parents, nannies and babysitters, teachers, and anybody living and working around or with children can be child abusers. This is not to say that you must adopt a suspicious attitude towards everybody living and working around your child.

It is thus advisable to position hidden spy cams in areas where possible and suspected child abuse can happen in the home – the child’s bedroom, general living areas, and kitchen. Ask your lawyer for legal privacy issues first.

You can adopt a proactive approach to your child’s protection in places outside the home, especially in school. You can inquire from the school administrator regarding the presence of hidden spy cams in strategic places. Often, the presence of spy cams deters malicious intent.

You have to ask, however, if these hidden spy cams do not intrude upon your child’s privacy. Admittedly, balancing child protection and respect for child privacy can be a hard act, but the benefits will be well worth it.

Negative Effects

Victims of child abuse can emerge from the horrible experience either as better persons or as bitter individuals, depending on the help you can give them and their resilience.

Unless you talk to the victims themselves, you cannot differentiate victims from non-victims simply because most of them do not exhibit outward behavioral signs. Small children simply do not have the language capacity to fully describe their experiences, while older children can be very reluctant about discussing them. This makes the installation of hidden spy cams more than necessary around your children.

Thus, the negative effects are usually emotional and psychological in nature. Usually, victims are prone to anxiety, depression, limbic irritability, and dissociation. Indeed, physical scars can be surgically removed and can fade, but emotional scars can be harder to detect and to treat.

Prevention Strategies

Aside from installing hidden spy cams to monitor your child, especially in the home, you can take many approaches to preventing child abuse. You can actively participate in community programs that seek child abuse prevention, ask your school to implement a skills-based curriculum that will educate your children about child abuse and how they can avoid it, and allow yourself and your nannies a break from stress.

Indeed, child abuse is a horrible crime upon humanity. It takes each and every one of us to pour our talents and our souls into protecting the future of our species.

In 1950 while I was a senior in Good Old Franklin High in Rochester NY, our honors English class received a book report assignment. It was a shock. We were to read and comment on the novel Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell. In his writings, Orwell contributed many words to the English vocabulary. In Nineteen Eighty Four, the term “Big Brother Is Watching You” became the very symbolism of a giant super state watching endlessly over the prole or the little guy.

Over fifty years have passed since I did that book report. The year 1984 has come and gone. The Cold War is no longer. We do not have super states like Oceania. George Orwell could not in his wildest essays ever dreamed up a creation like the internet. But Orwell’s creation is very evident and is with every one of us, no matter what country we live in. Here is an insight into everything we have ever wanted to know about hidden surveillance cameras

Today, hidden surveillance cameras are more common around the world than most of us realize. They can be found in banks, bus stops, department stores,7-11s, fast food restaurants, homes, and ATM machines. They are on almost every continent. These cameras were initially fed into video recording devices. Now they are monitored by real life security personnel and are channeled through the internet in order to deter crimes and rapidly identify offenders. The chances are fairly certain that if you’ve been in any gambling casino in the modern world that you have been carefully scrutinized on surveillance cameras As for government, if you have been in any office of federal, state, or local government, a hidden surveillance camera has captured your image.

Surveillance cameras are so small they do not take up a lot of space. When in place, they are not obvious. They are quite affordable when compared to other security methods. Surveillance cameras are effective in small ‘mom and pop’ type stores and restaurants. However, they are not a crime deterrent. They can only be used as evidence after the fact. They can provide valuable evidence to law enforcement, but they cannot stop the crime from happening.

To deter crimes, surveillance cameras must be used in conjunction with a law enforcement unit or a manned security patrol. In stores, cameras are mounted in “chrome domes” in the ceiling or else may sit behind store decorations. Do not be shocked if one of Santa Claus’s reindeer might be housing a surveillance camera. After all, the Christmas season sees shop lifting at peak levels.

Surveillance cameras may make you the unwitting star of the latest and greatest porno flick. Pornographic webmasters have installed webcams in every conceivable place where they can photograph people that think they have privacy. No hiding place is even close. They have set up webcams in rest rooms, locker rooms, dressing rooms, and most of all, motel rooms. Not only is Big Brother watching you, but the rest of the internet world is watching you as well. A long time favorite TV show used the expresson, “Smile ..You’re on Candid Camera ! How true.

There are however, a few drawbacks you should know about when considering a small, hidden, surveillance camera as part of a home or business security plan. Be aware that these cameras offer a very narrow or limited field of view. If these cameras are being used to identify perpetrators of a crime,a defense attorney in a court of law could easily establish reasonable doubt unless the defendant is well within the camera’s field of vision. Also, these webcams are very small and do not necessarily offer the best quality and highest resolution when it comes to photographs.

If you are hoping to catch employees, nannies, and housekeepers in the act of stealing from you or abusing their authorities and privileges, then a hidden surveillance camera is an excellent choice. The same holds true for customers who would steal as well. These cameras can quite often be valuable tools in identifying those who transgress against you. However, the hidden nature of surveillance cameras really prevents them from being an effective crime deterrent and this should be carefully considered before relying on them as a sole means of defense or security for your home and/or business.

Here is another expression that George Orwell may not have thought about. It is, “Only The Attorneys Win.” Surveillance cameras must furnish the evidence to obtain a conviction beyond a reasonable doubt. It is too easy for even a novice defense attorney to have a case thrown out of court based on surveillance camera evidence. The surveillance cameras mounted on light poles to catch you driving aggressively or running a red light or speeding may be susceptible to challenge.

The bottom line is simple enough. Get a good attorney. He or she just might be clever enough to outwit Big Brother.

A background check can be the greatest help that anyone can have, most specifically, when measuring the integrity of a certain person. Nowadays, we can observe that several kinds of danger are out there and when we wrongly trust a certain person then we could be the next victim. There are different kinds of crimes that do not only involved murder but it also includes identity theft, fraud, and sexual assaults. Most of the victims are unsuspecting that made them very vulnerable for the attack of the criminals. Criminals always find the opportunity and they are patient enough to wait till the victim become vulnerable. But since we already know a criminal’s mind, we will not allow them to harm us or our family.

We will do everything to have the best protection for us and our family. All the safety precautions and crime prevention are for us to learn and apply. We have gadgets available and we have the police officers and emergency numbers whenever we are attacked. But prevention is still better than cure. In order to at least avoid the criminals, we have to know firsthand who the criminals are. This doesn’t mean that we have to check on every person in our neighborhood but we have to perform a background check on people we are dealing with and people we are about to trust for some reasons.

Owners of company perform background check to their business associates and company workers. Owners of property for rent check on the background of anyone who will use their property. Households check for the integrity of their nanny, babysitter, or caregiver. Parents check on their children’s daycare providers and teachers. An individual make check on his or her date or fiancé to make sure that telling the truth about his or herself. These are only few of the background check done everyday and there are still more reasons that will give us the need to check on someone’s background.

If you will notice on the examples, anyone can actually perform these checks on background. Unlike before when private investigators are the only one who can perform a comprehensive investigation, now it is different. The accessibility of the public documents used in these investigations is now accessible on the Internet. There are also services that provide checks on people’s background and they can surely offer it for a low cost, far too cheaper from what private investigators charge.

Should I Use Pepper Spray?

Yes you should! Your life may depend on it. With the increase in crime today, pepper spray, stun guns, tasers and personal alarms are becoming increasingly popular to thwart off a would-be assailant. It is estimated that at least 15,000,000 Americans now carry personal defense sprays, the majority of which are OC pepper sprays.

Law abiding citizens are realizing that they have to depend on devices like these to protect themselves and their families. There are around 40 manufacturers of pepper spray, who offer various sizes, formulations and spray types.

Pepper sprays normally come in aerosol type containers, some no larger than a tube of lipstick. Some are small enough to attach to a key chain. Some are disguised as a pager or baton. Most of these sprays can be fired several times and have a range between 8 and 20 feet, depending on model and size.

Remember, all activations will reduce the contents of the canister; smaller capacity models will therefore need to be replaced every 9-12 months if these testing procedures are adhered to. Always check manufacturers testing and replacement recommendations.

If you have to use your pepper spray in self-defense, make sure that you have some distance between you and your attacker if possible. You don’t want the spray to affect you. Aim the spray at the eyes and ****** region of the attacker, then release a 1 to 2 second burst of spray. After you have done this move away, but watch the attacker carefully as you do so. By watching the reactions of your attacker you will be able to tell if a further burst of spray is required. Remember spray and move, spray and move. Once the attacker has been incapacitated, seek help and call the police.

Most pepper sprays have a shelf life of 3-4 years although some expire after two years. The expiry date should be marked on the canister. Any use of the spray beyond the expiry date is HIGHLY unadvisable. Your life may depend on it working properly. Although the spray will work indefinitely, it will loose its potency over time.

Sprays should be tested right after purchase and then every 90 days. Fire the canister in half-second bursts. Testing must always be done outside. Make sure that the wind is blowing from behind you.

Pepper spray is legal to carry in most states. There are however, some states that have restrictions on pepper spray. Please check with your local and state law enforcement officials for restrictions and legality in your area.

How To Hire The Perfect Dog Walker

I have a problem. I work all day and my dog Kettle sits cooped up inside all day. Do you know of any way to get my dog out of the house while I’m at work?

There is a simple solution to your problem. You can actually hire a dog walker to be your dog walking replacement while you are at work. Sometimes, a dog walker is more then just a necessity because many dogs that have limited dog-walking time become irritable. Dogs need to have daily exercise and human connection through dog walking. You may have even noticed your dog even acting out by chewing up your couch and favorite pair of heels when you are at work. In some instances, a dog in need of consistent dog walking will show aggression. This lack of exercise has let excess energy build up. Dog walking during the day is also necessary for many dogs because they simply can’t go a long duration without going the bathroom. You may be at work for several hours and this can be too long for dogs to go without relieving themselves and/or having a snack.

There are many things to consider when you choose a dog walker. Your dog is a member of your family so you need to go through many of the same considerations that you would when hiring a babysitter for your children. When hiring a babysitter for your children you normally look to family and friends for references. Do the same when you are looking for a dog walker. You can seek out references from friends that have dog walkers, your veterinarian, and dog groomer. They may know of individual dog walkers or dog walking services.

Make sure you find out if your dog walker has dog walking experience. Make sure that they also have a business license. Find this information and investigate it thoroughly. The last thing you want to do is leave your dog in the hands of someone that is unprofessional or may harm your dog. Feeling comfortable with a dog walker’s references is also necessary because you will need to give them a key to your home so they can pick up your pooch. They will enter your home for daily dog walking, so you must trust them like you would trust a babysitter.

Make sure you assess the services your dog walker has to offer. Will they provide special assistance to your dog especially if it is an older dog that may be blind or has arthritis? What types of care services will your dog walker provide in addition to dog walking? For example, will they also provide water and feed your dog? Will they then cleanup any dog waste? You need to understand the scope of services your dog walker is willing to provide. There are few factors to think about with regards to the actual dog walking. Will the dog walker walk your dog solo or with a group of dogs? A group of dogs may satisfy your needs, but this limits the amount of personal attention your dog can receive. You might have to pay more for a solo walk, but it could be worth the additional cost to keep your doggie happy.

Let’s face it, spy gadgets are just cool. Maybe it’s the influence of movie characters like James Bond or even Batman, but the latest technological wonders have always had us salivating for more. And with technology being hyper miniaturized and more affordable, it seems that having spy gadgets is pretty commonplace. One need not to look further than cell phones with camera and video recording capabilities. Almost every kid has one of these! Now that’s a scary thought.

Expanding more on the movie theme, the famous quote, “With great power comes great responsibility” was attributed to the Spiderman mythology. We can extrapolate this lesson to spy technology. So before you go out to play with your latest spy gizmo or present your child with one, remember the lesson to use it properly – or, remember what NOT to use it for.

Does it even need to be said not to place a spy camera in bathrooms, bedrooms and dressing rooms? These are the areas that people expect to have privacy so please respect that. Furthermore, it’s just plain wrong not to mention that it’s against the law.

Also, don’t even think about using a spy camera in casinos to gain advantage on the house or other opponents. The truth of the matter is, they probably have more cameras on you. To make it clear, just don’t use a spy camera to cheat in any manner for whatever occasion.

Let’s also not forget that it’s a bad idea to take a spy camera into a movie theater for illegal recording purposes. Not only can you face a fine if you get caught but you can also jail time.

All that being said, when deciding to use a spy camera, just use your good judgment. Spy cameras can be very useful and are vital to the police and private detectives in their undercover work. However, law enforcement can’t be everywhere and that’s why it’s great that the general public has access to spy technology. As in most cases, it’s the amateur videographer that has the camera ready when catching a crime in progress. Thanks to hidden nanny cams and other types of home surveillance, countless abusive nannies and babysitters have been caught for child abuse or the hired help has been caught for stealing.

When used correctly, hidden spy cameras are great for fighting and protecting against crime. All it takes is a little remembering that with great spy technology, comes great responsibility.

Wireless Security Camera Technology

Wireless security camera technology typically involves a battery-operated camera. It does not store recorded images in its internal memory. What it does, instead, is transmit signals to a receiving device that may be located as far as up to 500 meters away. Remote monitoring can then be done by hooking up the receiver to a television. At present, there is a wide choice of models available for wireless security cameras. So, you have an option between a battery-operated and an AC-powered one.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Wireless Security Camera

Wireless security cameras have gained popularity in home use as a means for monitoring caregivers. These cameras, also known as nanny cams, are placed in discreet locations around the house. They record the interaction between the caregiver and the child, usually without the caregiver’s knowledge. The purpose of the recording is to catch any signs of maltreatment in the part the nanny, especially while the child’s parents are away from the home.

Wireless security cameras installed in stores, public places, and crime-prone neighborhoods have been very effective in identifying robbers, catching speeding drivers, and significantly reducing the rate of crime in certain areas.

Wireless Security Camera of the Future

Software developers are now hard at work to come up with security models that are more than just passive recorders of goings-on in their line of focus. These developers promise a newly evolved security camera that can actually stop crimes before they occur.

The wireless security camera of the future will be able to:

1. Identify faces.

A wireless security camera can quickly match key points in a person’s face and compare it with the information in a database of recorded mug shots or photographs of individuals associated with criminal activities. This is very useful in screening people entering a country.

2. Detect concealed weapon under an individual’s cloak or clothing.

The premise for this technology is that people who are concealing some form of firearms will walk differently compared to people who are unencumbered.

3. Estimate an individual’s height and weight.

Again, this is a feature that will come in handy in case a person may be hiding firearms or a bomb beneath his or her clothing.

4. Detect unattended packages or luggage.

Most bombs are disguised as luggage. It is known modus operandi for terrorists to leave suitcases or other similar luggage in busy public transport terminals. A type of wireless security camera is now being developed to identify such unattended packages in any public area. These wireless security cameras will be designed to alert authorities who can then secure the area.

No Compromises to Safety

Although there is still much controversy surrounding the ethics of surveillance systems, the scales are still tipped in favor of putting civilians’ safety first. Some states in the United States reached a compromise with critics of wireless security cameras by decreeing that surveillance systems installed in public areas should be prominently displayed and visible to all passersby.
