It is not outlandish for a parent to give a babysitter permission to spank. The babysitter has to be mature and trustworthy–but you really don’t want someone watching your kids who is not mature and trustworthy. I have given a couple of babysitters permission to spank but they never had to do it.

Just as tomcat said, if a babysitter smacked ethier of my daughters without my consent, they would find themselves over my knee getting a taste of the same treatment!!

I don’t think there is ever a reason for a baby sitter to spank a child in their care. If the child is being unruly then they should be sent to their room for the evening by their sitter.

First of all I would NEVER give a babysitter or anyone else permission to spank my child. That is something a parent should do if they choose to use it in their home. You can’t trust someone else won’t be overboard or abusive. I would never allow a sitter to discipline my child in any form, spanking or otherwise, in my absence. If they have problems they can let me or my husband know and we’ll handle it.

Secondly, if a sitter or caregiver ever laid a hand on my child that way they had better pray that their lawyer was better than mine because there would be some major repercussions for it.

A sitter is there to care for things the child needs in the parents absence, to make sure they are safe from harm in the parents absence. Anyone who watches my child had better darn well treat him like he’s royalty in my absence, plain and simple.
