I’m looking to find a babysitter, one for occasions when my husband and I want to go out without the baby. I know most of them will have their own hourly wage already designated but if they don’t, I want to know what is standard to charge them. I also want to know if someone might be charging too much.

Minimum wage per hour might be good.

It depends on the area you live and the age of the babysitter. The younger the babysitter the less you will have to charge because they usually are too young to find a job. If you want someone over the age of 16 you will probably need to pay at least minimum wage possible a bit more to make it worth their while.

You pay a babysitter, you don’t charge them.

I babysit a 5 year old and 8 year old and i get about 8 dollars an hour, but you are only babysitting one child, but babies are much harder to take care of so I suggest about 4-5 dollars an hour, but that is just me. Most people charge about 3-4, so you should charge whatever you feel is necessary!

I am a babysitter in the Richmond VA area… and I charge $10/hr…. but it depends on where you live and what the going rate is for that area. Call some friends of yours and see what they pay their babysitters!!
