Would you tell your babysitter that you are monitoring home from work?

We are about to hire a babysitter, now we are still not sure if it would be better to tell her that we are monitoring the activities on line and that we’ll have a webcam connected all the time she’s at home with our little girl.

Yes, I think that people have the right to know that they are being videotaped.

Well i wouldnt because you have to see what this babysitter is really like with your baby…If you already know this person then you should trust her…
But if i certainly was taking on a person to mind my baby i would do what your doing… only if i didnt know this person very well…
I hope this helps….. xxx

If you tell her then she will always keep it in mind and they’ll be no problems. If you don’t then you can see when she beats your kid and then you can fire her. I’d go for telling.

I wouldn’t tell her. What you see on the tape will be very telling as to what kind of person she is. If she knows about the cameras, and has a bad habit or temper, she will just take it somewhere away from the cameras.

It’s definitely not right for you to film her without her knowledge. That’s just creepy.
Don’t tell her where the cameras are, necessarily. Just that they’re there. Most likely, the girl has some sort of bad habit that she’d rather not have televised. For instance, if her underwear is uncomfortable and needs adjusting.

Yes you should tell her- Maybe you don’t have to be specific like saying there is one in the baby’s room, one in the kitchen ect. but you should just tell her in a matter of fact way ex: Ok, so i just want you to know that we have put up cameras so we can see (name of kid) whenever we want to. Its comforting for me to be able to see him/her while I’m at work and makes the day go by quicker just seeing him/her play.
Also, lets be honest- we all do things that are embarrassing (picking nose, farting, burping, pulling clothes out of crevices) that are not harmful to your child but just down right embarrassing. She will be able to monitor those things as well.

It would be the right idea to let them know BUT since you don’t know them well enough, its best to keep it a secret only because they could take the child and do wrong purposefully out of sight of the cam. Defeating having the cam in the first place. If you know the person and trust them, the cam could also be a tool for them to let you, the parent, know exactly how your kid acts when you’re away. Many parents defend their little angels, in denial that they are monsters.

Tell her

A person has the right to know if he/she is being watched/filmed. That is paramount here.
If you’re so worried about the safety of your kid, then don’t hire a sitter. Stay home or use a day-care facility.
