I have no clue how much to pay a babysitter. Any suggestions?
We are in a middle class kind of area.
and the babysitter would be like college student or older.

Depends on what time it is, what day of the week it is and what she’s been getting previously. If you’re trusting her with your kids, I’m guessing she’s babysat kids around that age before so just be upfront with her and ask her what she’d like.
I’m in high school but I’ve babysat kids from around 7 months up to 6 years just recently and I’ve worked at a child daycare place. My friends and I get at least 5 dollars per hour and sometimes more if it’s on the weekends or very late at night. The parents usually ask me what I get paid before I babysit so I tell them that and they negotiate. Sometimes I don’t get paid after a night of babysitting but they pay me more the next time. Maybe college students would want more.

In my area of CA, scheduled nannies get paid about 18-19 per hour…that includes light cleaning and some food preparation.
As for a babysitter for, say, a night while you and your husband went to a movie, I’d suggest 13-15 per hour…15 month olds are a bit hard to watch as they are wiggle-worms and busy-bodies and newborns tend to require more focus to figure out what they will need.

Because both the children are so young I would ask, as the babysitter, between 10-15 an hour, i babysit a 4 and 8 year old and get paid 8 an hour. I also live in northeast United states, bridgewater MA to be exact.

I pay $7 an hour for babysitter for a 7 year old and 4 year old. I’d pay a bit more than that for tiny babies, like $8 or $9.
