Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

Always mention the specific gift in your thank you letter, note, or card – unless it’s a specific dollar amount.

Hand-write the notes and/or have someone else help you write them.

Give your baby shower host a special thank-you – candy, a fruit-basket, a gift picture-frame, or any small nice thing that will show your appreciation.

Do your best to send every thank you card with your special baby thank you wording, within two a week time frame. If you miss the two-week deadline, remember that you’re still better late, than never!

How Well Does A Newborn See

If you just had a baby or know someone that has had a baby recently, you may be wondering what the newborn can see. This article is a summary of how well the average baby sees things. I hope this article can provide many people with answers to their questions about newborn vision.

When a baby is born, their eyes are like and unfocused camera, and is very blurry. Most babies start out with 20/400 vision. It is amazing how quickly they start to adjust, after being in a dark place for 9 months. For years, mother’s have been told that newborns only see in black and white when they are born, but we now know that this is not the case. Newborns can see color right away if the colors are bright.

When the baby is about 7 days old, most are able to focus on things that are eight to twelve inches away from their face, such as when the mother is feeding the baby. By the time your baby is four to six weeks of age, they should be able to look into your eyes, and often start trying to copy your facial expressions.

When your newborn reaches approximately 3 months of age, their vision is somewhere close to 20/40, which is better than that of some adults. At this point the best things for them to look at are bright and bold colored things. You also better have the mobile up in the crib, because your baby can actually focus on it, and start to follow its path.

At about 4 months old your newborn should be able to easily see lighter colors such as pastels. Your baby will start staring at her hands, and try to grab things. Keep in mind that not all babies are alike, and these stages can occur earlier or later in their life, without cause for concern. By the time your baby reaches about 6 months of age, their vision should be 20/20, and may be able to look across the room.

Your babies eyesight should develop nicely on its own, but it is always a good idea to stimulate your babies eyes by changing their scenery from time to time. Talking to your baby at close range, and taking walks with your baby are two great ways to stimulate their vision.

Create Your Own Special Name

Every year, thousands upon thousands of new babies are born. The joyous moment makes parents world-wide wide eyed, cry, laugh, hug and kiss. For many new parents, however, the next step, sometimes a difficult step, is to choose that cute baby name that gives a newborn their identity for the rest of their life.

Some parents may have already chosen suitable baby girl names or baby boy names from a list that they have prepared beforehand, or have a name in mind based on the name of a special relative, mother, father, grandparent, or even a life long friend.

While there is nothing wrong with choosing a baby name that is more common like Bill, Bob or Jane or Betty, often parents want such a unique baby name that it is more unlikely to be heard that frequently. There are hundreds of ways to find these cute and unique baby names. You can search the internet for sites that list a host of names based on a variety of special or significant meaning, for example, Christian names, famous names or such. Or, you can go to your local book store and purchase a number of books with thousands of names.

When you want your bundle of joy to grow up knowing they are truly unique and special, you can also invent or create your own baby names. Once you have created this special name, it will be very easy to explain to your child in later years how you chose their name. For example, you can sit down with a blank sheet of paper, and write down all the names you like or have found. Then, you can start to combine names by breaking them into syllables and combine different syllables until you have found the right combination.

Choosing middle names for your new baby girl or boy can be accomplished in the same way. A special way I’ve found that works is to take the first and second name of the baby’s parents. You can then combine these names by using the syllable method, or you can reverse the names to come up with your own. For example, Robert and Ann can be combined to give you Roban, or Tanya and Robert can be combined to give you Robtan.

To develop your own cute and unique baby name may be one of the most wonderful gifts you can give to your child. This special name will always make them feel that they are a one of a kind individual, and will help give them the self-confidence to create their own special baby names for their own children in the future.
