A nanny cam can have several uses in your home. You can use it to watch the babysitter when you’re not home. If you have a babysitter that you don’t know that well, you can use the nanny camera to make sure he or she is doing their job.

The camera can also be used to keep an eye on elderly parents who might have Alzheimer’s, disabled or bedridden. You can immediately see if they need help of some kind when you have the camera in their room or throughout the house.

The nanny cam can be hidden inside everyday items like a clock radio, potted plant, wall clock or a stuffed animal. This is helpful because the babysitter won’t know they’re being watched while on the job. There are wired and wireless versions. The wireless versions are better because you can move the cameras anywhere in the house easily without dealing with cables. The transmission signal range is much better with the wireless cameras.

You’ll also want to get a cam that records on DVR instead of a VHS tape. DVR (digital video recorder) records the video image in high resolution. This protects the image from degradation over a longer period of time. You can also search for a specific video clip easier on a DVR than with a VHS tape.

Hidden nanny cameras can cost several hundred dollars if you get the kind that has a DVR built-in and is self-recording. The camera will start recording when it detects motion in the room. The price might be worth it if you think it will do a better job than a regular camera that uses a VCR to record video. You also have to start the recording yourself with the cheaper cameras. The choice is up to you.

Do your homework before buying one. If you can’t find any good deals locally, go on the internet and try to find an online retailer that can give you a better price.
