For most families it seems like deciding on a nanny salary can be just as tough as selecting the right nanny in the first place! While there are hundreds of pages on the internet giving recommendations on what factors to consider when paying a nanny, the question “how much to pay” still pops up more frequently than any other on message boards. Part of the problem is that there is no one answer for how much a nanny salary should be. Of course it will depend on what tasks the nanny is asked to take on, the amount of hours the nanny will work, the number of children, the amount of experience the nanny has and a slew of other variables and factors. Instead of trying to do the math on this impossible equation, many families are turning to the professionals and asking for assistance from a nanny agency.

Especially with the weakened condition of the economy, finances around the house can be a touchy subject. Working with a nanny agency helps families know exactly how much they should be budgeting in for childcare each week, month and year. Before approaching an agency, all families should begin by looking at their full annual budget. The family should then decide how much of this budget, what percent, can be realistically devoted to childcare. Taking the time to figure out how much the family can afford per month, per week, and per day will help to understand, realistically, how many hours and what kinds of childcare options the family has to choose from. Going to a nanny agency with this information already in hand can help your family find the perfect nanny match quickly and easily.

Another important step to take before heading to an agency is listing the specifics of your nanny needs. Use a plus column and a minus column, monetarily speaking, to delineate which characteristics will ‘up’ your nanny costs, and which will help drop it. For example, multiple children is a factor that will go in the plus column, as it is common practice to charge around 10% more per child from the expected salary for a nanny. Also, hiring a very experienced nanny should go in the plus column as an added expense. If you expect the nanny to do a lot of driving, add either providing a vehicle or paying for travel expenses in the plus column. Factors that go in the minus column include offering room and board, not requiring the nanny to perform domestic chores like cooking or housekeeping, and even the current economy. Look to the average salaries for starting and experienced teachers or daycare providers in your area for a good indication of where your childcare provider’s salary should lie.

Say, as an example, a family decides that it can pay around $500 per week for a nanny, but this only amounts to $10 per hour for the 10 hours the family needs childcare each weekday, spanning from when the children awake to when both parents are home at night. If this is slightly below the average nanny salary for a professional nanny in the area, the family will have to consider what variables it can work with. For example, the family may offer the nanny room and board, plus use of a vehicle, in exchange for accepting the lower salary, and may even be able to drop the weekly pay to $300, depending on the cost of living in the area. Consider all that your family has to offer before heading out to the agency. It’s likely that if you think you’re a great family and employer, prospective nannies will think so too! Happy nannies are far more likely to be flexible when it comes to the delicate salary issue.

Before you go about applying your sleuthing skills and surveillance system to spying on your spouse, or somebody else for that matter, you have to educate yourself on the legal implications. You certainly want to avoid serving sentence!

Here are the basic things you need to know about using surveillance gears like micro video cameras vis-a-vis objective expectation of privacy.

Definition

In layman’s terms, the term “objective expectation of privacy” pertains to a reasonable expectation that what you do or say will not be seen or heard by another person. At present, it is recognized by informal societal rules and formal legal laws.

This is a very important consideration in installing micro video cameras for surveillance purposes. At any time the person under surveillance can expect reasonable expectation of privacy, you have to stop taking covert photos and videos. Otherwise, you are just wasting your time.

Criteria When Not to Expect

There are four criteria in determining reasonable expectation of privacy. First, general legal principles state that reasonable expectation of privacy is not present when the behaviors and the communications under scrutiny were deliberately and consciously open to public view. Thus, the use of micro video cameras mounted on toy helicopters as surveillance equipment can still be legal even if the person under surveillance is hiding in a cabin deep in the woods.

Second, vantage point pertains to the place where you will take videos. Reasonable expectation of privacy is not present when a place exists from which anybody can see or hear the events. This is the plain view principle. Thus, if you carry micro video cameras in a public place where people can see or hear the person you are following, then that person is not protected by reasonable expectation of privacy.

Third, certain buildings and pieces of land do not afford anybody reasonable expectation of privacy. If there are micro video cameras in automobile thoroughfares and national forests, then these are perfectly legal. However, public phone booths, rock concerts, sports arenas, and public restrooms are off-limits to surveillance equipment. If you are in these places, turn off your surveillance gears lest you violate the law.

Fourth, technological innovations continue to push the boundaries of situations and places where reasonable expectation of privacy can be allowed. Indeed, micro video cameras and the rest of surveillance gears benefiting from nanotechnology have created vantage points where there were previously none and situations calling for adjustments in our understanding of the Fourth Amendment. Ask your lawyer for specific rulings.

Places

Your residence is a place where you can expect objective expectation of privacy; however, beware since garbage cans outside your home cannot be covered by the principle. Public places designed to guarantee privacy such as private portions of a jail and public phone booths, among others mentioned above, are also off-limits to surveillance.

However, monitoring your house and installing nanny cams in common areas around the house is not a violation of the Fourth Amendment if you installed them yourself. Just be careful that you do not use these covert cameras to spy on your nanny’s toilet habits and bedroom activities!

If you are determined to spy on somebody, then the best advice is to consult a lawyer or a private detective about your plans. You have to avoid situations that will result in your violation of the law, the principle of reasonable expectation of privacy just a small part of it. Or better yet, just hire the private investigator and save yourself the time and effort!

Nanny Cameras For Home

If you watch the news on TV, then you are no stranger to news stories that detail stories of children being abused by their childcare provider. Or perhaps the child might have been ignored while the babysitter had company over without your permission. This is a great reason why parents are warned to get a nanny camera for themselves. Nanny cameras for home are hidden cameras that are used to record what is going on in the home, especially when your child is being left alone with the nanny. These nanny cameras for home are very useful for several purposes:

1. They can record if your child is being abused or mishandled. In the past, if a child has scratches, scars, or was mishandled in anyway, there was no way to prove it to the authorities. This is because young children often scratch themselves, or cause harm to themselves in the course of play, or by accident. Toddlers and babies have no way of telling the parent exactly what is going on. Or, a child’s imagination can work overtime, and if they don’t like their nanny, unfortunately they could make up a bad report to get the nanny fired. However, with nanny cameras for home, you will be able to set up cameras in all the rooms of your home so that you can watch it, and see exactly what is going on between the nanny, and your child.

2. They can record if your nanny or babysitter has had guest in your home while you are gone: This is a common problem when you task people to watch your children, or even house sit for you. You won’t know that there has been someone in your home, until you notice that your belongings are missing. Or, you might notice things are out of place. Or, you might notice smoke smells in the home, when you know that you won’t smoke. With a hidden nanny cam, you won’t have to worry about your nanny or babysitter telling you a lie. You can watch the video for yourself, and see exactly what is going on.

3. They can be used in court: Many parents and homeowners have had the frustration of having to prove themselves in court when unfortunate incidents take place. When you have nanny cameras for home installed, it’s no longer your word against anyone. You can give a copy of the recording to the lawyers, and when the evidence is on the camera, they will be able to take the appropriate steps to deal with the situation.

You can either buy nanny cameras for home that are visible, or you can buy models that are hidden. You can even buy models that are designed like spy cams. These are a type of nanny cam in the shape of a pen, a lamp, or some other object that won’t draw attention. Yet, the object will be filming everything that is going on in the room. You might feel weird taping someone’s activities. But in today’s world, it might be a great idea to buy nanny cameras for the home, especially if you are using a new nanny.

A baby is born with certain reflexes to protect them during the first few weeks. These reflexes will disappear after a few weeks and be replaced with voluntary movement during baby’s development.

Doctors will check these reflexes to ensure his central nervous system is working correctly.

Walking Reflex
If you hold baby in an upright position with his feet touching the floor, his legs will seem to be trying to walk. This reflex will last for about 3-4 weeks, and he won’t actually walk until he is around 12 months.

Crawling Reflex
Place baby on his stomach and he will take up a crawling position with his bottom in the air and his legs bent. This lasts for about two months when he will then be able to lie flat.

Search Reflex
Touch baby’s cheek with your finger or breast and he will turn towards the source and open his mouth in search of food. This reflex will last for about 12 weeks.

Grasp Reflex
Place your finger in the palm of baby’s hand and he will grasp it. This involuntary movement will persist for about 3 months.

Sucking Reflex
Put your (clean) finger in baby’s mouth and he will **** on it. This reflex ensures he will be able to feed.

Diving Reflex
If baby is placed in water – either during a water birth or in a swimming pool – his throat will close so that he does not swallow the water. This means that baby will not drown if born in water, and he will also be a natural swimmer. This reflex will last for about 2 months, or longer if you take him swimming.

Babinski’s Reflex
Stroke the sole of baby’s foot and his big toe will curl up and the other toes will spread out. This lasts for about two years.

The truth is, that sometimes we feel it is much simpler just letting your child get away with something than fighting a battle you are anyway going to lose. They just make you give up by pleading, screaming, begging and crying that you just don’t have the heart or patience any more to go through with your point. However, you must not lose your will or your strength at such times. Its at these times that disciplinary action is necessary so that your child learns acceptable and positive behavior. Bad behavior should not be made negotiable and there shouldn’t be any scope for exceptions in terms of punishment for misbehavior and bad deeds.

Hopefully, before the occurrence of any misdeeds, you would have discussed and explained to your child the consequences of inappropriate behavior and misdeeds. They should understand clearly what action will be taken for bad behavior. Be clear, concise and consistent in explaining these so that when it comes to implementation, you can follow through easily. Children tend to test the limits and boundaries that are set for them and it is easy to let them bend the rule when your patience wanes. But you must be firm and fair and without loosing your ground explain that this was the consequence discussed and so it shall be. But do not forget to discuss the issue with the child and work out a better solution if the question of one arises. But you need to constantly consider your child’s age and maturity and accordingly work out disciplinary action. Sometimes as a child grows, so should the way we approach them.

It is necessary that your spouse as well any other caregiver, are in agreement with you and follow through with the same consistency and clarity when it comes to punishments. If you decide to make some changes in this area, make sure that all the other adults involved are informed so that the follow through always remains clear and consistent.
