When you are looking for the right babysitter, it is not enough that she is perfect in terms of salary, experience, and says all the right things. It is also important that she is a right fit for the kids. The only way to find this out is after her first babysitting visit with them.

Ask your children the most basic question: “Did you like the babysitter?” Older kids are more likely to answer with an indifferent, “She’s okay. Will do,” while younger kids may gush on and on about them if they really do like her. Ask them to elaborate. If all they have are complaints, or if they exhibit vehement dislike, it may be time to change your babysitter.

Ask them about what happened during the visit. Did they play any games? What sort of activities did they do together? If they give you a list of activities that are harmless or constructive, the babysitter is a good one. Them playing alone while the babysitter watched does not reflect brilliantly on the babysitter, but it is, at least, a good indication that the babysitter was paying attention and making sure that the child did not harm himself. But if they tell you that the babysitter was on the phone, watching TV, or not even in the room with them, that is a negative indicator. If you find out that they engaged them in harmful or dangerous activities, do not hire the babysitter again.

If you find a great deal of bumps, cuts, or bruises in your child that were not there before the babysitter came to visit, ask your child where they came from. Little accidents are not uncommon in children, especially those who tend to be a little overactive. But too many injuries indicate that a babysitter was negligent. If your children suddenly seem afraid when you ask that question, be suspicious of abuse.

Talking to your children after she leaves is a crucial part of the experience, and will allow you to evaluate if she is, indeed, the great babysitter she seems to be.

It would seem that digital cameras are everywhere these days. There built into our smart phones, our cell phones, our laptops, and even in places the kids nanny would never suspect. Surveillance cameras, mini cameras, and stop light intersection cameras are just a few of the places cameras are turning up. There are even impostor cameras making appearances. Yes it’s true, many of those security and surveillance cameras you see in public places are really just fakes. Installing high tech cameras in every corner of a mall or office building can be expensive. So, quite often organizations will install fake ones, just to give people the impression their being watched. It’s surprising how much better people will behave, when they think someone is watching them.

So obviously, there’s not shortage of digital cameras available for your hard earned dollars, but perhaps a little guidance would help you in getting the one best suited for your purposes. Here’s a few tips to help out.

Price is not always the best indicator of a quality camera. Make sure you know what features those extra dollars are paying for, of if their appropriate for you.

Megapixels are a specification that should be generally ignored. Anything over 5 megapixels is great for the average photographer.

Optical zoom is great – digital zoom is meaningless. Digital zoom can be replicated with your computer later.

SLR cameras have better long term value from an upgrade standpoint than compact digital cameras.

SLR cameras are fast, and compact cameras are slow.

There’s nothing wrong with buying last years model. Staying one step away from the bleeding edge of technology is a good thing.

If you don’t know what an image sensor is, it’s time your learned. It’s a far more important consideration than megapixels.

Last and most important, understand how, when, and where you plan on taking pictures. The more you thought you give to how you will use your camera, the better your chances of getting the best camera for you.

What kind of camera should be used for DVR surveillance systems? This is an important question that needs to be answered. Well, you should use cameras with pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) features. Here are a few reasons why.

Freedom And Field Of Vision

The best DVR security cameras should be able to monitor a wide area. That is why a PTZ security camera is perfect. It gives you the mobility that is so important in surveillance systems. You do not have to put to it in one corner of the room just to get a wider field of vision. With a PTZ camera, you can move the camera sideways and at angles. The ability to zoom in on intruders to really see how they look like will give power and potency to your home surveillance system.

Get Rid Of Wires

The best DVR security cameras should be wireless so that you will not have to worry about all the clutter. There are some wireless PTZ security cameras with powerful antennas that can transmit data over wide areas, so you can really hide them well because there are no wires that intruders can use to spot them. Having wireless DVR security cameras will also give you the freedom to change their positions. You might want to mount them somewhere else when you feel that intruders already have a clue where they are. The element of surprise is crucial to your surveillance system.

Battery-operated Cameras

Your surveillance system should have back-up power in case there is a outage. So it would be a good idea to go for a camera that will run on batteries when the power goes out. Some PTZ cameras are battery-operated. For your personal computer and DVR, you have to buy an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) device. Provide your DVR surveillance systems with extra juice so that your home will be secure all the time.

Positive Product Reviews

Good product reviews of PTZ cameras are scattered all over the web. This means that the camera is really good and well worth your money. If you read user testimonials, you will find that most DVR security cameras that are used in homes are PTZ cameras. However, some feel that the camera is too expensive. But there are affordable models that offer the same functionalities as the pricier ones. Do not worry, most reviews will always recommend a product that is effective and affordable at the same time. It is also a great idea to join online communities of like-minded individuals who share tips and information about DVR security systems.

There has been so much talk about the use of digital video recorders (DVRs) in home security systems. And the focus of the discussion has always been on the effectiveness and the dependability of the DVR device and the system that runs it. But the choice of what security camera to use is also an important topic. PTZ cameras does indeed make excellent DVR security cameras because of its mobility and freedom.

Choosing Baby Names for Twins

Choosing a baby name for your new born can be quite a stressful decision. With thousands upon thousands of names at your disposal, you may begin to feel a little over whelmed. Well, for twins, you can double the trouble! This article is aimed at helping soon to be moms and dads of twins to choose those perfect baby names.

Using anagrams for naming twins

One way of choosing baby names for twins is to take one name that you like and rearrange the letters to make another name. A few examples of this are:

Reva & Vera

Ira & Ria

Mary & Myra

If you are a fan of traditional baby names, then your choices are slightly limited with this option. But, if you don’t mind bending the rules a little, then you can play around with this idea forever.

Using synonyms for naming twins

Another idea for choosing baby names for twins is synonyms! A synonym is a word (or a baby name in our case) that has a similar or exact meaning of another word. So, you might want your twins to both have names that mean ‘flower’. An example of this would be:

Eve & Zoe

Yasmin & Lala

Dahlia & Daisy

Camellia & Heather

All of these names refer to flowers in general or to a particular flower, although they are all quite unique from one another. For example, Heather is an English name, whereas Camellia is a Latin name. If you would like to experiment with this idea some more, visit our baby names and meanings database.

Reversing names for twins

Choosing baby names for twins can sometimes be as easy as spelling a name you like, backwards! As you can imagine, this will only work for a small selection of names, but if you have the time to sit down with a pen, paper and some patients then you will eventually find some that you are fond of. An example of this would be:

Aiden & Nadia

Other tips for naming twins

Some other tips for naming twins are to use names beginning with the same letter, use names that rhyme, or even use names that have no connection between them what so ever. Sometimes parents get so wrapped up in trying to choose the perfect names for their twins that they forget the fact they have the option of choosing two names that have no connection at all. Regardless of what option you choose to name your twins, you should take the time to sit down and put some serious thought into your decision. Best of luck to you!

Flexible Schedule

Another huge benefit of being able to stay at home and work is you would instantly have a flexible schedule. You would have no boss constantly hovering over you, and you would be able to come and go as you pleased.

Stay Home With Your Children

The most important benefit of all is having the advantage of being at home for your children. This is the main reason for having the desire to work at home. Or, it should be anyway. If you have school-age children, you would also be there for them when they return home from school. This would also result in better quality time spent assisting with homework.

Save Money On Clothing/Uniforms

If you worked from home, you would avoid the cost of any special clothing…such as uniforms. There are many occupations that require you to wear a special uniform. You would have the option of staying in your pajamas all day if you desired, or just comfortable clothing in general.

A lot of places of employment require parking fees. That fee amount adds up fast everyday when figuring it up on a weekly or monthly basis. If you worked from home, your car would be safely parked in your garage or in front of your home.

No Commute/Traffic

Having the advantage of working from your home would relieve you from the daily commute of traffic driving back and forth to work. If you simply **** sitting in rush-hour traffic, then this particular benefit would be high up on your list.

Save Money On Lunches

When you work outside the home, you tend to spend more money on lunches. Think about it…for Example: A group of employees going out for lunch, or…ordering take out. If you worked at home, you would be more inclined to eat whatever is available at home.

Save Wear And Tear On Your Car

You would avoid a considerable amount of wear and tear on your vehicle if you were to stay at home and work. Consider the miles you drive everyday and the wear and tear on those tires. Daily commute would also result in more routine maintenance.

Be Your Own Boss

And last but certainly not least…you would be your own boss. You would have more control of how much income you would make. You would also be able to take as many days off as you desired. If you miss a day of work, you would have the option of making that time up at your convenience.

There you have it…the 10 key benefits of working from your home office and examples of dollars saved from doing it.

So, if you work outside the home…One question you may need to ask yourself. “How much am I REALLY EARNING from an outside job?” Just once, try figuring up all these expenses that go along with working outside the home. You probably would be shocked at the figures you come up with.

Companies also highly benefit financially by hiring telecommuters. There would be a considerable amount of reduction of office rental and real estate expenses…not to mention the cost of maintenance for computers and software.

The telecommuting field has proven to be extremely competitive as more and more individuals find that working from the comfort of their homes is really a possibility.

The day Susan invested in wireless hidden cameras for her home security, she found out she got more than she bargained for. Not only could she keep tabs on the babysitter with her nanny cams, but she could set up spy cams to record what was going on in her house when she wasn’t around and have a little fun with her family at the same time. Instead of a plain spy cam, Susan found that her new wireless hidden cameras were about to be the favorite part of her day.

Susan’s main priority was making sure that her kids were safe. Because her sons were 2 and 4, she could leave them with a babysitter and felt that her kids could handle the day better than they could when they were infants, but still needed someone to help them around the house and make sure they were safe. In leaving children with a babysitter, you trust them with the most precious parts of your life.

Because covert hidden cameras are finally so affordable, Susan could manage to have these high tech gadgets in her home. With the wireless hidden cameras she could also have them hidden in a variety of ways. Her alarm clock hidden camera could monitor her room. She could put the rest of the wireless hidden cameras in great hiding places and not have to mess with the wires and running them to recording devices. With the all-in-one cameras she could have playback on the device themselves or simply put the memory card into her computer.

Susan thought she had hit the jackpot with her home surveillance gadgets, and she truly did. The day she found her husband dancing and singing in the living room when he thought no one was looking, she truly found out why she loved these cameras so much. Luckily for Susan’s husband, his birthday was just around the corner. At his big surprise birthday party, Susan happily played the tape for all of their friends. Never in a million years did Susan think her nanny cams would be so much fun. In the end, her husband did too, but it took him a couple of minutes to appreciate it.

Once Susan’s husband realized all of the great new uses for these wireless hidden cameras, he realized that they could set up their spy cams to also provide protection over their home at night and when they were away. Susan and her husband quickly put their minds together and made one more trip to the spy shop in order to complete their surveillance system. In doing this, they realized the investment in these gadgets were truly worth the money. Also, Susan got to still go to the mall afterwards because their new surveillance system didn’t break their bank. In the end, everyone was happy; except for the kids who found that it was harder to blame the spilled milk on each other when mom and dad could check out the real story on the hidden cameras.

It is never easy to go on a nanny search. One thing that can make it easier would be the right interview set up. Often, this goes beyond asking the right questions. How should you interview a potential nanny?

Important Interview Questions

Interview questions differ per parent or family. A potential nanny may be asked numerous or very little questions. The kinds and number of questions that you ask will depend on you. Do remember though that there are just some questions that you shouldn’t miss to ask. These questions are uniformly asked by most, if not all families. These include questions about experience, relevant training, references and child caring practices. These basic questions will initially determine if your interviewee has suitable qualifications.

Supplementary Questions

You should ask more than just the necessary questions. Your interview should also consist of supplementary questions that are related to nanny work and your applicant. You can ask an applicant how she has solved past problems with kids, what she has learned in previous nanny work and why she wants to become a nanny. These questions will reveal a lot about your nanny’s inner traits. Here answers will give you an idea if you are comfortable with her values and beliefs. Be careful though. If you ask too many meticulous questions, you might just drive the good nannies away.

Interview Set-Up

Your nanny search shouldn’t just involve asking questions. You also have to make sure that the interview environment is appropriate. Have your interviewee sit in a comfortable area in your living room. Offer her a drink or some refreshments. This will help break the ice and put your interviewee at ease. This is important. A relaxed and comfortable applicant would be more likely to be conversational and open. You might be able to get hints of past experiences that you might want to know about.

Fee Discussion

One crucial point that deserves separate mention is the fee. This is something that some families tend to put little emphasis on. It is however a very important part of every interview session. After all, people are motivated to work because of compensation. Be sure to ask a potential nanny how much she would be willing to work for. If you do not agree with her rate, let her know how much you can afford. If she agrees to it, make sure she understands that the amount is all she can expect. Arriving at an understanding about fees will help ensure that you have a nanny who will complain and work grudgingly.

Trial Period

Ask an applicant if she would be willing to undergo a trial period with compensation. This would be a good way to see if your nanny and your kids get along well. Mentioning this during the interview is important because it will help your nanny understand that anything can happen after the trial period. She may or may not get the job depending on how things go.

Your nanny search doesn’t have to become a tremendous chore. You just need to organize the right interview session to find good potential nannies.

A Home Security Wireless Camera

Why do you need wireless security?

Security is something everybody needs to think about these days with crime forever on the rise. Everybody is a possible victim of crime, whether you have lots of things with a great monetary value or whether you are a church mouse, crime is not too picky. With the world economy having taken a turn in an unfavorable direction more and more individuals turn to crime as a means of making ends meet or to support their lifestyles. Crime can take the form of drug dealing, car break-ins, home break-ins and much, much more. As an individual, a parent and part of the community you need to do your best to protect yourself, your loved ones, your home and your belongings.

Protecting your family comes first and foremost but that does not mean that you need to neglect the protection of your valuables. There are always tips, advice and books on personal safety and there are hundreds of different home security systems available on the market. One of the most prevalent types, which is proving very effective, is wireless home security.

Wireless technology is no longer only for the use of large corporations and companies wishing to keep themselves free of crime. The technological development of the world in the last years has provided a means to bring wireless technology to the average homeowner as a way to keep your possessions safe and secure.

Is a wireless setup going to cost you an arm and a leg?
Wireless setups can range from affordable to insanely expensive. The trick is to set up a budget, without being a miser, and to stick to that budget. You also need to spend time looking round to see what is out there. The internet is a powerful shopping, browsing and informative tool that you need to utilize to your advantage.

Basic wireless setups should not put you too far out of pocket and because it is wireless it should not generate any installation costs. More elaborate systems containing more sensors and cameras and other extras will cost more but it is important to get the best that you can afford.

Why wireless cameras?
A home security wireless camera can prove to be a very useful thing indeed. For one thing these cameras are easier to hide and can be hidden much more effectively. This means that you will have the element of surprise as the perpetrator will have no idea they are being watched. Cameras can have many different uses from keeping a 24 hour eye on your home while you are away to baby monitoring and watching what the kids are doing when you are not around.

Home security camera systems come in many shapes, sizes and functionalities. This is why it is ultimately important to think carefully about what you want to keep under surveillance and for how long. Which camera you choose will depend solely on your need for it.

For instance a video record wireless camera that is going to be on long hours and needs to record a lot will need specific settings and capabilities. You would need a home security cam that uses an AC outlet for power and that transmits its feed to a central receiver so that the recordings can be for a longer time period. Cameras that need to be on only periodically and which are not going to be on for long hours can be battery operated and self recording. The batteries will cover the time for recording and the camera should have enough recording time for the hours required. Cameras that will be operating under very low light or dark conditions will require infra red capabilities to ensure clear vision and recording.

Whatever your needs there is a wireless security camera system set up for you and there is one to fit into your home budget as well. Shaving money off your home security system or not getting the best because you think that you are not at risk can leave you devastated in the end. There is an age old saying that an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure and in this case it rings loud and true.
