Some babysitters look into online games as a new alternative from the usual babysitting games that they play with the children they babysit. This will give them an opportunity to let the kids be preoccupied for a period of time so that they can do the extra tasks that parents require them to do.

For babysitters who will be introducing online games to toddlers, finding a game in the internet is not difficult. However, choosing the right website, applying time restrictions and teaching the toddler on how to use the mouse and keyboard can be the challenging part.

The internet has a wealth of educational games that would help the toddler learn new skills that regular babysitting games cannot provide. The babysitter, though, has to be careful about suspicious video games and inappropriate graphics. Here are some tips to help the babysitter when using online games for toddlers:

1. Babysitter has to check the sites before letting the toddler play with the games. The website chosen has to be easy to navigate and has less advertisement.

2. The games have to be age-appropriate for toddlers. Babysitter must also consider the toddler’s brain development and also the skill of using the mouse when choosing a game.

3. Supervise and interact with the child. Give information about what’s going on in the screen.

4. Babysitter must limit the time that the toddler spends on the computer. Some toddlers have attention span of less than 10 minutes but others find online games addictive.

5. Vary the games to develop different skills. Puzzles and memory game promotes problem-solving skills while catching moving pictures works on the hand-and-eye coordination.

Online games can be very beneficial to babysitters and toddlers but it must be moderated always. Babysitters must vary the activities when dealing with a toddler and not just rely solely on online games. Babysitting games and activities such as hide-and-seek, tag, storytelling and exploring the outdoors are still valuable to the development of toddler’s physical attributes, social interaction and imagination.

Are you sick of struggling to find a babysitter when you need one? Do you want to be able to find the babysitter that will work for you fast and easy? There are a few ways you can find babysitters and if you are looking for a babysitter, then you need to read on. Here are the top ways to get the sitter you need.

First, you can use sites like Craigslist to find a sitter for tonight, this weekend, or even for full time. There are, however some downfalls to this. If you try to just hire a babysitter right off Craigslist without checking them out much, you might not get someone that will work well for you. Plus there is an issue of safety since you will not really know the person you are hiring.

Second, you can place an ad for your babysitter on Craigslist or on other free classified ad sites. This can get you a ton of responses, but there are some serious downfalls here as well. You have to understand that you will be sifting through all kinds of responses to figure out who you want to interview, then you have to interview them. This can be very time consuming and it will not be as easy to find a babysitter for short notice.

Last, you can use a service online that has already done a background check on the babysitter and has a profile for you to look at. This is great because you can look and see what other people they have worked for are saying about them. There if feedback to help you out and with the background check you will know you are getting someone that will take good care of your children.

No matter how much you brief somebody, or emphasize a point, things are easiest to remember when they are written down. The same goes for your babysitter. You may be going on and on about important details before the visit, but she is always likely to forget some of it. To ensure that she doesn’t, make a list. Here are some of the things that would be good to put on that list.

Numbers

Include your contact numbers, and one or more alternative in case she isn’t able to reach the first one. Also include contact numbers of a neighbor or trusted family friend who lives nearby in case she needs immediate assistance. Emergency numbers for the fire and police department and hospital are also essential.

Schedule

If you are the kind of family that adheres to a sort of schedule, write it down for the babysitter. This can include dinnertime, playtime, what time your children are to do their homework, brush their teeth, bathe, and take medications or vitamins, if any. Don’t forget to include their bedtime.

House Rules

Every house has its rules, and the babysitter and the kids are expected to abide by them. You cannot, however, expect a first-time babysitter to remember all of them without a list to remind her. Remember that she came from a different family, and possibly, a very different family culture with its own set of rules. If you do not make it clear what your rules are, she is apt to break them unwittingly.

Other Special Considerations

Write down any other special considerations peculiar to your family. You might want to include your children’s names, the password for your wireless internet connection, names of medicines or vitamins that your children take, the delivery number for your children’s favorite pizza parlor.

Start making this list before the babysitter arrives. It is likely you will remember other things as you go along. Save a soft copy of it if possible, for future babysitters.

So you have a troubled family member and wish to consider a residential treatment facility. What should you do?

- Find out exactly what is wrong with your relation
- Consider several facilities
- Work out your finances

It sounds simple but if you diligently follow these three steps, the chances are you and your troubled loved one will make the right decision. The end result of course is that a life or two may be changed for good forever. Let’s take each step one at a time.

Knowing precisely the nature of the problem for the would-be resident is vital. You cannot select the right venue unless you know in detail what is troubling your family member. Seeking professional help from medical and educational professionals is the best way to make an assessment. The symptoms may be obvious but it’s the cause of those symptoms which must be discovered. Is it depression, ADHD, dyslexia or drugs which are at the root of the behavior? Or something else perhaps? Once you know the cause you can then set about selecting the right facility.

And by select I mean thoroughly investigate. All reputable facilities welcome interest from prospective clients. They will have a web site and brochure and be willing to communicate freely by phone or email and answer any questions. They will usually welcome personal inspections. Now depending on distance, a personal visit is highly recommended. You may have thoughts about how dreadful the venue may be for your relative. Allay those fears and doubts by taking a tour of a possible facility. See the dining room and kitchen faculties, see the games room and bedrooms. Meet the staff and see all the faculties which are on offer. You will feel better and be better able to make the right choice. Remember to consider several facilities before making your choice.

Money is certainly an issue with a residential treatment facility. They are not cheap. It’s full board for the troubled residents, plus academic studies and therapy. Often the therapists are available around the clock. All of these professionals cost and so the expense of a stay can be quite high. There are various ways to meet the cost. Insurance policies specifically for this type of treatment are an ideal solution. Financial arrangements from the facility where you pay a deposit and the balance over a period of time is another alternative. Finally you could seek sponsorship from a government agency or other benevolent source. But whatever you do, don’t take your eye off the financial ball because it is an important part of the whole event.

Treatment centers often have a basis for their existence. It might be a faith-based center, a New Age venue or something more social or more like a clinic. Again you need to match the needs of the would-be resident with the program and ambiance of the facility. Visit them, find out how they operate and what they offer and make a sensible choice for the benefit of all concerned.

Are you wondering if the Summer infant day and night hand-held color video monitor is the right monitor for you and your baby? Is a video monitor really better than a sound monitor or even one with lights and sound? This review will give you an honest look at this monitor from a very protective mom’s perspective…mine.

When you lay your baby down for a nap, you know you are going to keep going back to check on her. That is what any concerned parent would do. This is especially true when they are newborns. However, I can tell you from experience, something always seems to happen: the door squeaks, your fingernails scrape the door or you actually walk into the room because you want to see if she is breathing OK. Any of these things is likely to wake her up, and that is definitely not what you want.

The Summer infant day and night hand-held color video monitor is a virtual, hand-held peace of mind. You no longer have to check on your baby by peaking in or going into his room. All you have to do is look and/or listen with this monitor. You can see your sweet sleeping baby on the color video screen. It has a nighttime setting as well that is black and white. You do not even have to get up four times a night while he is sleeping just to check on him. You can do it right at your bedside and be comforted that he is fine.

The sound and picture clarity is impeccable. Of course, there are different settings you can choose for sound and picture. There are also two channels to make sure you get a clear frequency. It has an amazing range of 350 feet so you can even see your baby while you are outside working in the flower beds or playing with your other children. The monitor is lightweight and portable so it is easy to carry around.

The vast range of the Summer infant day and night hand-held color video monitor relies on the 900mhz frequency. The drawback to this is if you have other electronics in your home that are also 900mhz. There can be interference if they are in use at the same time. If this happens, you can try changing the channel. We have a phone like this, but it really has not been a problem for us. I do not talk on the phone very much. I can always use my cell if the baby is sleeping. Having the video monitor is much more important to me. I know my baby is safe and sound where ever I am.

From one mom to another (or to a dad) I would highly recommend this monitor. There are several places online that you can find them. However, you still want to get a great deal.

Are you thinking of getting nannies for hire? Here’s a quick rundown on how much you will be paying them and what makes the difference in nanny salaries. If employment is obtained through a nanny agency, there are fees that the agency charges. This topic does not include those fees and will dwell only on the average salaries of a nanny.

The pay of nannies depends on several matters. Key factors are place, qualifications and experience. Cost-of-living expenses such as food, utility, health and car insurance and paid vacations are factored in when calculating the pay for live-in nannies. A beginner live-in nanny can be paid a salary range of $250 to $400 per week while a trained live-in nanny can get from $350 to $10000 per week.

Geographical locations account for varying rates in nanny salaries. In major metro areas where the cost of living is high, nannies for hire are competitive and thus higher, upwards to $18-20/hour. Rural areas tend to have comparatively lower wages for the same reasons: cost of living is cheaper and competition is not as steep; thus a rate of $9 to $12 per hour is average. Overtime premium for work over forty hours per week is 150 percent the regular hourly rate for live-out nannies.

The educational level counts, too. A four-year college degree may mean an increase of 20 percent from the base pay while a Master’s Degree could mean a forty percent increase. For a high school graduate, you can give her a minimum of $400 gross per week.

Experience is a big factor in determining your nanny’s salary. An experience of less than three years of continuous referred employment is considered a beginner and a typical weekly pay for this is not more than $200 gross for live-in. An experience of 200 hours of documented infant care plus CPR training will cost you a maximum of $1000 per week.

If you have to leave your children to go out or go to work, nannies for hire are available. These prevailing market prices will guide you to making your choice.

When it comes to the nanny interview, parents might not be able to figure out why they feel as though they are in the hot seat. But as the interview time draws closer, it will be a lot more apparent. Nannies are, after all, either sent by a nanny agency or you have selected the nanny from an online nanny service, to provide childcare service, and what it really comes down to is choosing the best nanny to care for your child.

What this means in regards to an interview with a prospective nanny is if you know the best questions to ask. Like any other interview you might conduct, it is crucial to come to it with an understanding of what you want to figure out. And when it comes to nanny questions, it is crucial to know what you are looking for. This is the best way, after all, to determine if someone is a good fit or not for your children. And since you may have already made the decision that a childcare center doesn’t fit your needs or requirements, or you want them to have something extra, it is best to be prepared with suitable nanny interview questions.

One of the first things and most vital things you can ask person sent from a nanny agency or chosen by you from online nanny candidtates, is if they are intending on working part-time or full-time. Also, if you are relying on a nanny to help you get to work, you want a nanny who is going to be able to be a reliable and consistent part of your child’s life. This means being available long-term, not just for a couple of months. So asking whether or not this nanny has long-term intentions is for the well-being of your child and your job. After all, children rely on things that are reliable and dependable, so if you want to invest in nanny care, it makes more sense to ensure that the nanny care will be available for more than a couple of months.

The next crucial step when interviewing from a nanny agency or online service is making sure that they are on the same page as you when it comes to child-rearing techniques. This is not to say that everyone should follow your same thought process when it comes to educating and disciplining children. Rather, you want to make sure that you are going to find a person who is on a similar wavelength as you as to not confuse your child. One of the most detrimental things for any child, regardless of they are an infant or in the seventh grade, is making sure that they have consistency. So finding a nanny whose beliefs echo yours can be a real win.

When conducting an interview with anyone from a nanny agency, it is also crucial to talk about their past experiences. Whether they depict their former nanny jobs in positive or negative light, the point is more if they are doing their very best and dedicated to their work. After all, you don’t want someone with your children with beliefs that are contrary to yours. It is important that you and any nanny from a nanny agency are on the same page as far as your children’s well being is concerned.

Pretend play is essential to the development of a child’s imagination. Play kitchens are perfect for promoting pretend play. Before striking out to choose the perfect toy kitchen for your little girl or boy you must realize there are a number of things to consider.

Where do you want the kitchen to go in your home? Any parent knows that it doesn’t take long for a child’s toys to overwhelm the house. Each night after bedtime you end up down in the living room wedging every little stuffed animal, car, animal, and block into a toy box as you attempt to reclaim a little space for yourself. A play kitchen can’t be put away like this. Once you know where you want the kitchen to go you can consider things like color, decor and size.

How big is your child? This is a key consideration when purchasing a play kitchen. If you have a toddler and buy a large play kitchen imagine how sad it would be if you unveil it to them only to find out they can’t even reach the counters yet. If you have a young child a good kitchen to consider is the kidkraft pastel kitchen. It is smaller scale than many and is perfect for young children. If you have an older child you will probably want to consider larger more interactive choice.

How long do you want it to last? Do you want the kitchen to get you through the year or last a few years. Children as young as walking and as old as 7-8 frequently play with toy kitchens. This is a large age range. Is the kitchen you are going to get intended to cover that entire time frame? Is it better to choose a kitchen with fewer features at a lower price that is sized better for your child at the time of purchase knowing it will only last them a year or two? After they outgrow the one you can donate or sell the smaller one and move on to something larger.

These are but a few questions one should consider when deciding on the perfect play kitchen for their little one.

How to Pay Your Babysitter

If you’ve never hired a babysitter before, one of the things a practical parent may worry about is payment. Fortunately, babysitters aren’t too expensive. They usually range from about four to twelve dollars per hour, depending on a few factors:

Factors that Affect a Babysitter’s Salary

-Their amount of previous experience. Obviously, those with more experience will ask for a higher rate.

-Any training they’ve had that is relevant to babysitting, such as CPR, first aid, a -babysitting workshop, or child care.

-The age of your children. Some ages require a lot of supervision, while others only require minimal supervision. Infants generally require the most supervision because they cannot be let out of sight.

-Additional tasks you assign her that are outside the usual scope of babysitting. These can be the care of pets, tutoring the child, or keeping the house tidy.

-Room and board, food, and other benefits you are offering. The more benefits you offer, the less money you can expect to her.

-The number of hours she will be babysitting. If she is staying overnight or on a holiday, it is to be expected that she will get an overnight bonus.

-The babysitter’s age often matters. Most teenagers charge much less than an adult sitter.

When you are interviewing the babysitter, one of the important questions is her salary expectation. Compare your own expectations. If she has a standard rate, or if she comes from an agency, you may be expected to stand by it. You may also negotiate in most cases, if she is a freelancer. Here, you can bring up the factors that may affect payment. Agree upon how you are to pay her- whether it will be a set rate for the entire month or hourly.

When you have agreed on a certain salary, ask her if she prefers cash or credit.

Choosing Your Baby Stroller

One of the biggest decisions for new parents is choosing a baby stroller for their newborn baby. There are many different stroller types available on the market today, and this makes it hard to choose which is right for your baby. Make sure that the stroller you choose is easy to move and maneuver, and comfortable for both you and your baby.

The carriage stroller is the most popular first choice for most parents. It is fairly basic, and is often smaller, for the first months of your babies life. An umbrella stroller is the second most popular choice of strollers out there today. Keep in mind that as your child gets older, you may want a tray and other features to be attached to your stroller to make daily life easier. If you carry a large amount of different objects around (bottles, binky’s, formula, etc) it may be a good idea to look for a stroller with a large amount of side pockets and straps.

Lighter strollers are great for family vacations and trips. Although lightweight strollers are generally slightly more highly priced than other strollers, they added control may be worth your money. If you use the car on a daily basis with your baby, you may want to look into the car seat/stroller combo packages that may be able to save you a great deal of money.

Make sure that you any choice you make is sturdy and reliable. This is your baby, and the most important thing is that you are confident you are doing everything in your power to keep them safe. If that means a few extra dollars, they are well spent. Keep your eyes open for strollers with removable, machine washable seat covers for easy cleaning. After all, you’ll surely have a lot of messes when your newborn starts riding along in his stroller!
