What You Should Write Down For Your Babysitter

No matter how much you brief somebody, or emphasize a point, things are easiest to remember when they are written down. The same goes for your babysitter. You may be going on and on about important details before the visit, but she is always likely to forget some of it. To ensure that she doesn’t, make a list. Here are some of the things that would be good to put on that list.

Numbers

Include your contact numbers, and one or more alternative in case she isn’t able to reach the first one. Also include contact numbers of a neighbor or trusted family friend who lives nearby in case she needs immediate assistance. Emergency numbers for the fire and police department and hospital are also essential.

Schedule

If you are the kind of family that adheres to a sort of schedule, write it down for the babysitter. This can include dinnertime, playtime, what time your children are to do their homework, brush their teeth, bathe, and take medications or vitamins, if any. Don’t forget to include their bedtime.

House Rules

Every house has its rules, and the babysitter and the kids are expected to abide by them. You cannot, however, expect a first-time babysitter to remember all of them without a list to remind her. Remember that she came from a different family, and possibly, a very different family culture with its own set of rules. If you do not make it clear what your rules are, she is apt to break them unwittingly.

Other Special Considerations

Write down any other special considerations peculiar to your family. You might want to include your children’s names, the password for your wireless internet connection, names of medicines or vitamins that your children take, the delivery number for your children’s favorite pizza parlor.

Start making this list before the babysitter arrives. It is likely you will remember other things as you go along. Save a soft copy of it if possible, for future babysitters.

Now depending on distance, a personal visit is highly recommended. You may have thoughts about how dreadful the venue may be for your relative. Allay those fears and doubts by taking a tour of a possible facility. See the dining room and kitchen faculties, see the games room and bedrooms. Meet the staff and see all the faculties which are on offer. You will feel better and be better able to make the right choice. Remember to consider several facilities before making your choice.

Money is certainly an issue with a residential treatment facility. They are not cheap. It’s full board for the troubled residents, plus academic studies and therapy. Often the therapists are available around the clock. All of these professionals cost and so the expense of a stay can be quite high. There are various ways to meet the cost. Insurance policies specifically for this type of treatment are an ideal solution. Financial arrangements from the facility where you pay a deposit and the balance over a period of time is another alternative. Finally you could seek sponsorship from a government agency or other benevolent source. If this happens, you can try changing the channel. We have a phone like this, but it really has not been a problem for us. I do not talk on the phone very much. I can always use my cell if the baby is sleeping. Having the video monitor is much more important to me. I know my baby is safe and sound where ever I am.

Nannies For Hire – How Much Should You Pay Your Nanny?

Are you thinking of getting nannies for hire? Here’s a quick rundown on how much you will be paying them and what makes the difference in nanny salaries. If employment is obtained through a nanny agency, there are fees that the agency charges. This topic does not include those fees and will dwell only on the average salaries of a nanny.

The pay of nannies depends on several matters. Key factors are place, qualifications and experience. Cost-of-living expenses such as food, utility, health and car insurance and paid vacations are factored in when calculating the pay for live-in nannies. A beginner live-in nanny can be paid a salary range of $250 to $400 per week while a trained live-in nanny can get from $350 to $10000 per week.

Geographical locations account for varying rates in nanny salaries. In major metro areas where the cost of living is high, nannies for hire are competitive and thus higher, upwards to $18-20/hour. Rural areas tend to have comparatively lower wages for the same reasons: cost of living is cheaper and competition is not as steep; thus a rate of $9 to $12 per hour is average. Overtime premium for work over forty hours per week is 150 percent the regular hourly rate for live-out nannies.

The educational level counts, too. A four-year college degree may mean an increase of 20 percent from the base pay while a Master’s Degree could mean a forty percent increase. For a high school graduate, you can give her a minimum of $400 gross per week.

Experience is a big factor in determining your nanny’s salary. An experience of less than three years of continuous referred employment is considered a beginner and a typical weekly pay for this is not more than $200 gross for live-in. An experience of 200 hours of documented infant care plus CPR training will cost you a maximum of $1000 per week.

If you’ve never hired a babysitter before, one of the things a practical parent may worry about is payment. Fortunately, babysitters aren’t too expensive. They usually range from about four to twelve dollars per hour, depending on a few factors:

Factors that Affect a Babysitter’s Salary

-Their amount of previous experience. Obviously, those with more experience will ask for a higher rate.

-Any training they’ve had that is relevant to babysitting, such as CPR, first aid, a -babysitting workshop, or child care.

-The age of your children. Some ages require a lot of supervision, while others only require minimal supervision. Infants generally require the most supervision because they cannot be let out of sight.

-Additional tasks you assign her that are outside the usual scope of babysitting. These can be the care of pets, tutoring the child, or keeping the house tidy.

-Room and board, food, and other benefits you are offering. The more benefits you offer, the less money you can expect to her.

-The number of hours she will be babysitting. If she is staying overnight or on a holiday, it is to be expected that she will get an overnight bonus.

-The babysitter’s age often matters. Most teenagers charge much less than an adult sitter.

When you are interviewing the babysitter, one of the important questions is her salary expectation. Compare your own expectations. If she has a standard rate, or if she comes from an agency, you may be expected to stand by it. You may also negotiate in most cases, if she is a freelancer. Here, you can bring up the factors that may affect payment. Agree upon how you are to pay her- whether it will be a set rate for the entire month or hourly.

When you have agreed on a certain salary, ask her if she prefers cash or credit.

Lighter strollers are great for family vacations and trips. Although lightweight strollers are generally slightly more highly priced than other strollers, they added control may be worth your money. If you use the car on a daily basis with your baby, you may want to look into the car seat/stroller combo packages that may be able to save you a great deal of money.

Make sure that you any choice you make is sturdy and reliable. This is your baby, and the most important thing is that you are confident you are doing everything in your power to keep them safe. If that means a few extra dollars, they are well spent. Keep your eyes open for strollers with removable, machine washable seat covers for easy cleaning. After all, you’ll surely have a lot of messes when your newborn starts riding along in his stroller!
