Baby cries uncontrollably when you are about to leave; When baby is about four months old they start discerning between family members and strangers and some suffer anxiety towards people they do not know. They also suffer anxiety when the parent is about to leave but this settles down as they grow older or get used to the stranger. Since you can decode your the cry of your child, you can tell if they are crying out of fear or if it is just a normal cry. Make a point of returning home unexpectedly and see what goes on after you have gone.

No bonding yet; If baby and nanny have not bonded yet even after a prolonged period of time and baby dislikes the nanny and gets upset by the simple sight of her, it is a sign of trouble. It is important for baby and nanny to have the right chemistry to make it work.

If it is impossible for you and your help to work as a team; Your relationship with your help is very important since you can tell how efficient she is. Beware of a nanny who does not talk; she might be keeping ill feelings towards you which will in turn affect the way she treats your child. For instance, if she chooses not want to follow your instructions especially on hygiene issues or being critical of how you raise your child, although you should welcome constructive suggestions, is not a good sign.

When your help invites people to your place; Your place is her work place and should be handled with etiquette just like another official place. The problem of bringing people to your house when you are away especially fellow nannies and boyfriends is that she will neglect the work that is supposed to be done. In addition, she should respect your privacy.

If your help does not keep schedules; If she does not live in your house, then she should be able to arrive a few minutes before her call time. A good caregiver should also keep time with feeding, sleeping and bathing times and if this is not the case then she is unreliable.

Choosing the Right Baby Carrier

The first thing to check in a baby carrier is its buckling mechanism. Check whether the fastenings that go around both the adult as well as the child are strong and ensure that they will not slip under any condition. The head insert or baby pillow that is provided with the carrier should be such that it will not suffocate the child whichever way he falls asleep.

While checking the buckling mechanism of baby slings it is important to ensure that babies can be strapped in it with face forward as well as face backward. It is best if buckles and straps are such that they can be clicked or slung with one hand since one hand will be needed to hold the child. There are baby slings that can be adjusted to hold the baby at the front, or at the back, or on the hips. If more than one adult, with different preferences, are likely to use the baby carrier, it is best to go in for those that have such flexible wearing options.

Babies held in baby slings are bound to remain warmer than babies kept in a crib or bassinet. First of all, they get some extra body warmth from the parent. Secondly, if the carrying adult is walking under the sun, as in the case of hiking, there would be the additional atmospheric warmth. So, it is important for parents to choose the type of baby carrier that is made of materials and pattern that would allow plenty of air circulation inside it. It is also important to keep the child hydrated well when it remains inside the sling for long periods.

Users can also decide the color choice of their baby carrier based upon the climate of the place where it will be used. For warmer climes it is better to go in for baby slings of lighter colors whereas for colder climes dark colors will be more suitable. Whether the climate is warm or cold, it is best to have a sling that has an airy pattern. Extra protection in winter can be given by addenda like a weather cover that can be wrapped around the baby.

Based upon the childs habits and the parents convenience, parents can also avail of extras like ******* pads, and diaper bags and front pouches which are available with the Ergo baby carrier. A ******* pad will have Velcro joints and can be fixed around the strap of the sling and babies who have a chewing habit will be very happy to have them handy. Other extras like bags and pouches are for parents who would prefer to minimize additional luggage.

Baby slings should be machine washable. There is none as adept as babies for dirtying things and it might be necessary to wash a baby carriage more often than you prefer to. So it will be best if the whole thing is washable in a machine. The material should also be one that dries fast and it should ideally be dryer-safe as well.

Every aspect of hiring a nanny involves outlining what you require. For instance, they should: Respect family decisions and provide services for them. Promote the development of the child in all aspects emotionally, physically, intellectually and socially. Hold true to high standards of professional conduct with the children and families. Continue their education to provide the latest resources and skills for the child.

The role of a nanny is multi-faceted, including being an educator, a nutritionist, an activity coordinator, a researcher, a friend, and much more. They do more than any babysitter could provide as their job is not to keep the child out of trouble for a few hours.

When looking for a nanny, keep in mind that there is no official seal of approval for hiring a nanny. It is recommended that you check on the experience and educational backgrounds of prospective nannies. Many colleges offer specialized child care education and there are a number of institutes as well.

Ask yourself these questions: What makes the prospective nanny qualified to raise your child? What skills do they possess that make them capable of handling this huge responsibility? Do you have relatives, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. that employ a nanny?

If you know of anyone currently employing a nanny, be sure to inquire with them as to how they found them. For instance, was it through an agency or by word-of-mouth? Meet with prospective nannies and monitor their behavior with your child and your child’s behavior with the nanny. And remember – a background check is essential.

Professional nannies are usually between the ages of 18 and 50, and may hold some advanced degree in early childhood development. There are a number of national and international professional associations representing nannies and nanny agencies. Both students and professional nannies will benefit from reading books on nannies. There are many advantages to using an Agency for both parents and Nannies if the Agency is of a high standard and reputable. When using a nanny agency, you must find out exactly what type of screening process they use to hire nannies. Working with an agency is a good option for nannies. If you’ve avoided using an agency altogether, it’ll be up to you to screen the nannies. You could also use the internet and connect with an agency that specializes in placing nannies.

Nannies are full-time caregivers that either live in your home or travel daily to your family. Many nannies are happy to work part-time. But since nannies are in very short supply, and it also cuts down on the paperwork, many employers also pay the nanny’s portion of that tax. In most cases, professional nannies are not responsible for general housekeeping. Nannies are mostly female and traditionally, the nanny was a servant of the house, who used to report directly to the lady of the house.
