Are you a California parent who is interested in hiring a nanny? If you are, you will need to find a California nanny to use. When it comes to hiring the services of a California nanny, you will not want to just choose just any nanny. Instead, you will want to take the time to find the perfect nanny. When doing this, there are a number of important factors that need to be taken into consideration.

One of the most important factors that need to be examined, when hiring a California nanny, is the nanny’s reputation. In your search for a California nanny, you may come across nannies who are just getting started in the business. While it is more than possible to hire a new nanny, you may want to think about hiring a California nanny that does not only have some experience, but has a good reputation. This will not necessarily guarantee you better results, but it may help to give you peace of mind in knowing that your children are being well cared for.

Since the reputation of a California nanny is important and should be taken into consideration, when looking to hire a professional nanny, you will need to do a little bit of research. When applying for your nanny job, all California nannies should provide you with a resume or at least fill out a job application. That resume or job application should outline their past clients, if they have been a nanny before. You will want to contact all of the families that each California nanny you are interviewing has worked for before. Be sure to get as much information as you can from the family or families in question.

In addition to having a good reputation, in terms of work experience, you may also want to think about hiring a California nanny that has undergone the proper amount of training. When it comes to nanny training, you will find different types of training. For instance, there are schools or training courses that are designed just for nannies. There are also courses that focus more on traditional babysitting than being a nanny. Many nannies also take first aid courses. As with hiring a California nanny that has good reputation, hiring a nanny that has undergone the proper amount of training is also likely to give you comfort and peace of mind.

Cost is another factor that you will want to take into consideration, when looking to hire a California nanny. While cost is important, it shouldn’t be the deciding factor. Yes, you will want to make sure that you find a California nanny that you can afford, but you will also want to make sure that your child or children are well taken care of. Since you are entrusting the safety and wellbeing of your child or children to the California nanny that you hire, it is important that you hire a nanny that is reliable and one that comes highly rated and recommended, no matter what they charge.

Babysitter Games For Kids

Babysitting is a job that requires endless energy. Either you keep the kids occupied or they keep you on your toes. Keeping them occupied is not so simple, however. Kids lose interest in a toy or an activity sooner than you think. Moreover, boredom makes kids whiny and irritable. Babysitter games come in handy here. There are plenty of such babysitter games and activities, which are interactive, educative, and fun.

If you are taking care of more than one child, the following group activities can be organized.

o Red Light, Green Light: Traffic rules can be taught early through this babysitter game. One child stands with arms outstretched and gives red and green light signals which have to be followed by the rest standing at the other end. Children are required to run on a green signal and freeze on a red signal.

o Duck Duck Goose: The kids are made to sit in a circle. One child walks around tapping each one’s head saying duck or goose. On “goose,” the child tapped (goose) must run after the tapper around the circle and reach his seat before the tapper; else, the kid will have to sit in the middle of the circle.

o Hide and Seek: One child searches the rest who hide within a defined area. The kid found first searches the rest and the game continues until all the children are found.

o Treasure Hunt: A popular babysitter game for kids above the age of three, it involves hunting for a treasure (any object) in a defined area. The child who finds it first wins. You can make it even more interesting by giving clues.

There are some babysitter games which can be played in groups or even with a single child.

o Simon Says: In this game, “Simon” gives instructions and everyone follows. Whoever fails to follows the commands is ousted and the most accurate player wins.

o Paper Bag Guess: Familiar objects in the house are collected in a bag and the children take turns feeling the object and guessing what is it.

o Silly Faces: Funny faces make kids laugh no end. Ask the kids to stand in front of the mirror and let them make scary, happy, sad, and crazy faces.

o Food Creations: Lunch time can be playtime also. Use fruits and other healthy foods to create interesting shapes and lifelike characters. You can make the kids eat by amusing them at the same time. Involving older kids can be even more enjoyable.

Hiring a babysitter often becomes essential at times, especially if you have to attend to an important task outside the house. However, many parents are not entirely comfortable with the idea of leaving their child in the hands of a complete stranger. It is important that the babysitter you hire should be capable enough of handling different possible situations in your absence.

Think twice before you just hire the girl down the road to watch your kids. There are some advantages to having a really good babysitter. Here are the top five advantages to hiring a good sitter.

1. Your Kids Will Have More Fun. If the teenager down the road spends 90% of the time at your home text messaging her boyfriend and the other 10% watching T.V, how much fun is that for your kids? A good babysitter will play with the kids, take walks, play games and really entertain them. (I don’t even think mine has ever tried to turn on the T.V.)

2. Complimentary Care. Kids benefit from being exposed to different experiences. Some play sports or read books with the kids. My babysitter is more creative and helps them do arts and crafts that I would never think of doing!

3. A Clean House Ever come home to a house cleaner than you left it? A good babysitter may not only clean up after your kids, but also spruce up things a bit once the kids are all in bed.

4. Safety. A good babysitter is responsible. If something happens to your child when you are gone, you need to know that this person will know exactly what to do.

5. You Will Be More Willing To Go Out. When you are nervous about a sitter, you won’t ever want to go out or you will hire one only when absolutely necessary. But if the kids have a good time, the house isn’t destroyed, and you feel your kids are safe, you will be more willing to go out and have a good time…and happy parents make better parents any day.

Hiring a nanny for your family is a delicate and intimate task which, when done right, can be extremely rewarding. However, when parents neglect important information the process can become a nightmare that haunts every member of the family, especially the children involved.

It is important in today’s world to be detailed about hiring a nanny. Too often families leave out important issues like background screening, and rely instead on the pleasant smile and demeanor of a woman who shows up on time for an interview. Who was the pleasant individual? Who told you what an excellent employee she is? Was she a friend of a friend’s nanny? Or someone the nanny’s friend is employed with? We’ve seen it all and families must remain vigilant and aware of the danger these trends hold.

It is important that a thorough background check is performed on a potential nanny. A national criminal background check, sex predator check, DMV check and social security verification should be obtained.

Furthermore, it is equally important not to gather that information from online databases that often do not update their records frequently enough. The norm with families is to interview a nanny and offer them a start date, often within days of the initial interview. This could lead to problems that might have been avoided. If times permits, it is advisable to offer the candidates with whom you feel satisfied at least a two day trial period; during this time you can observe their interaction with your children as well as look for all the qualities that are important to you as a family.

An employee checklist must be created to ensure that the nanny’s job description is explicit. It will come in handy during evaluation periods as well as the times you might hear, “That’s not my job.”

Stereotypes continue to be proven false with regards to which ethnic groups make the best nannies. Regardless of whether the nanny came from a small Caribbean island, the countryside of Brazil or a large city in Europe, what matters is that the nanny could be an addition to your family, and bring with her values that promote an environment of growth for your children.

I am often asked, “How do I get my nanny to stay with my family?” and often enough I am lost for words. What I know to be true is that all individuals regardless of economic status, cultural background, or gender, thrive when respect and care are shown towards them. Kind words such as “You are performing well.” or “The kids enjoyed the day at the museum with you.” make a nanny feel appreciated.

Lastly, remember that your home is like a stage and that the kids are your audience eager to emulate what they see, which could be the good, the bad and the ugly.

Having a nanny cam is becoming a common way for people to feel better about the care of their children. Many parents are choosing to install a nanny cam in their home to be able to see what is going on when the nanny is taking care of the children. While some people feel that it is not a good idea, others feel it is important. Many parents feel that they need to know that their children are being well cared for, and if they are able to monitor the nanny, they will know that the care is what they want.

If you have a new nanny, or if you have concerns about your nanny and need to feel better about knowing what is going on with the care of your children, you can find nanny cams that are easy to use and will help you feel better about the care that your children are getting. You can find nanny cams online or in the stores, and when you are going to be choosing one, you want to find one that is small enough to place somewhere out of the viewing range. You can find ones that are small enough to fit almost anywhere in the room so that they are not detected.

You can also find nanny cams that have different features that allow them to scan different parts of the room to be sure that you are able to see your children if they move around in the room. You can also find the equipment that you need to install the camera easily into any room that you want, and be able to hook it up to your computer to see what is going on with it. Once you find the nanny camera that you want to use, you can easily install it anywhere in the room where it is not going to be detected by the children or the nanny. This could be behind something on the wall, or on a shelf.

Most of the nanny cams that are available are very small, so that no one will be able to see them and only the parents know where they are. If you have been concerned about the care of your children, and need to make sure that they are receiving the care that they need, you can find that a nanny can is a great way to monitor the care that they receive from the nanny, and help you to feel better knowing that your children are safe and being taken care of properly. You can find nanny cams online at affordable prices.

Many parents are in the process of hiring new babysitters as the new school year begins. Sometimes finding the right person for your family can be more difficult than you might think, but sitters with the right qualities can be a real asset to your family.

If you are in search of a new babysitter or nanny for your children, here are some qualities that every great babysitter should have:

Dependability and Responsibility: Dependability is a must. After all, they are responsible for the children’s health, safety and welfare while you are away.

Overall good health: A babysitter may be great with the kids, but if your sitter is sick all the time, you may have to find a last-minute replacement too often.

A Love of Kids: The best babysitters just really love children. Kids usually know whether someone likes them or is just doing a job. Ask them to spend some time with your children while you are home. That way you can see the interaction yourself.

Maturity: Babysitters need act calmly in an emergency. They have to maintain authority and discipline to gain the respect of your children.

Knowledge about children: Your babysitter should have at least a little understanding of the basic techniques of feeding, dressing, diapering, and playing with younger and older children.

Adaptability: It’s your house with your family’s usual patterns and routines. Your babysitter should adapt to your routines, not try to change them.

If you find a nanny or sitter with these qualities, it will make life so much easier for you and so much more fun for your kids!

The phrase “nanny cam” has become one and the same with hidden cameras. These cameras offer very little real preventative security for homes but can be a very practical tool for identifying sneak theives, pilfers and abusers within the home when used properly. These DVR cameras are appropriately named however for their function as a means of keeping an eye on those who are keeping their eyes on your children or the elderly are priceless.

The ability to watch over nannies and caretakers is one of the best reasons to make this sort of investment. One thing you should remember when selecting your camera is that in some states it is not legal to record speech without the knowledge of the person in question. You should consult with the laws in your state before making the purchase (the retailer where you purchase your nanny cam should be able to inform you of this legality).

These DVR hidden cameras do have a security purpose that is often overlooked by the rather secretive nature of them and that purpose would be to keep a watchful eye on your children even when you cannot be in the room with them. Children can be monitored from a distance allowing them to build important problem solving and self-entertaining skills while allowing you the peace of mind that comes with knowing what is going on.

Another thing to remember when installing a nanny cam in your home is that not only will it record the nanny and your children but it can also be used in order to record the housekeeper and keep an eye out for potential theft that is taking place. It is heartbreaking that we live in a world in which we should be suspicious of everyone and yet that is exactly the way our world has become. A nanny cam can make your family feel much safer and better protected just because there is always someone watching over them. In the horrible event that something goes wrong there will at least be a video record of what has happened.

Homes without children also greatly benefit from the use of nanny cams in order to identify potential thieves that provide in home services. By placing DVR hidden cameras around the home much of the theft can be easily identified and quickly handled.

Once again the laws of the state should be followed. At this point in time video surveillance is allowable without informing those being recorded in all 50 states. If you are attempting to implement tighter security efforts in your home, you may want to consider the benefit of adding a nanny cam to your security arsenal.

Who Makes A Great Nanny?

One thing you should realize is that there are countless agencies and organizations that provide non profit services for those who are hiring nannies as well as nannies themselves. These organizations are a treasure trove of information and details. One of them is the International Nanny Association. Here are their standard qualifications for a nanny.

o The individual must be at least 18 years of age.

o The individual must have at least a high school education or have the equivalent.

o The nanny must be in good health themselves. This including having all necessary immunizations for the area they are serving and have a negative TB test done.

Beyond this, though, there are other things you must consider. For example, does the age of a nanny matter? For most people, the age of a nanny is a consideration. But, it differs from one person to the next.

You may be looking for someone that will be able to provide you with physical interaction with your child. You may want someone that can keep up with the three young children you have.

Or, you may be looking for someone that has a great deal of experience and has a more “set in stone” outlook on rearing children.

Either of these examples, extreme as they are, is a fine qualification. It is up to you to decide what the ideal age or other qualifications that your nanny should have. In fact, a nanny can be anyone you wish, over 18 that you feel has the right qualifications you set forth.

Later, we will touch on the benefits of hiring a mannie, or a male nanny. This too should be something that you take into consideration.

One Rule That Can’t Be Surpassed

Most of the qualifications of a nanny center on your actual preferences for a nanny. There is one rule, though, that should always be considered.

A nanny should always have a genuine interest and love in children. They should respect children and truly enjoy being around them. A nanny that considers this a job is not someone to hire. Rather, hire a nanny that considers this to be their career and even their calling. The difference will come forth in their dedication.

3 Types of Nannies

Nannies can be broken down into three basic types of people. Of course there are exceptions to every rule, but you should consider where your preferences are in these basic types.

o Younger: Nannies in this group are often single, young and are looking to work as a nanny for the next couple of years, perhaps to pay for college or their future training. Some are taking a break from work or school, while others want to serve as a nanny part time. They may not be getting the personal rewards from their current employment. The benefit in these nannies are that they are more energetic, eager, active and often open to working with all types of people.

o Older and Experienced. This group of nannies is generally older people that are experienced in raising children of their own. Some are people that have raised their children and wish to help others do the same. In this case, there are countless differences in the education, skills and background of the individuals.

o Experts. In the final group of nannies you will find people that consider themselves professionals, experts and even child care specialists. Here, you have people that are looking to make being a nanny a full time career. They generally have gone through educational programs and may have an early childhood education or even an elementary education degree. They may have a training certificate in nanny specialized fields. Many will have years of experience working as a nanny, while others are just starting out.

How do you select? Determine what it is that appeals to you. Education, experience, long term dedication, energy and more are things that you should consider here. How important are these features to you?

Whatever you do, don’t make the mistake of not considering people from all of these situations as your nanny. Each offers something unique that may fit with what you are looking for better.

What about A Manny?

What is a manny? A manny is simply a male nanny. Today, these are becoming more and more popular. Traditionally a nanny has always been a woman. Yet, there is more and more demand for a male role model within the home.

Is a manny the right choice for you? If you are completely uninterested in whether the person that you bring into your home is male or female, the only considerations that you have are that of the previous qualifications that you’ve set forth. Yet, there is no doubt that for many this is something of concern.

A manny is a good choice in a number of situations. Assuming that you can trust anyone that you bring into your home because you’ve done the necessary research on them, you can begin working on determining the right fit for you. A manny may work well in a home that has several boys that may or may not need a male role model. Some women feel that having a man in the home is a good thing for boys as it helps them to have someone to relate to.

This can be especially true as boys begin to get older and need to make decisions that they would feel more comfortable talking to a male about.

Yet, a manny is still a good choice for any home that requires a male role model. If you feel more comfortable having a man take care of your child, then by all means it will work for you.

Men can be just as compassionate, nurturing and considerate as women can be. Often, men are looked at as being more fun and engaging to children over what women are. Nevertheless, they are just as educated, just as experienced and more often are the ideal person to handle those situations that boys don’t want to work with.

If you have a girl, don’t be afraid to bring in a manny. In this case, especially when the child may not have a male role model, she’ll appreciate all of the same things that the boys would.

Whether you select a manny or a nanny is up to you. At least give them the same considerations as you would a nanny as you may find that a male nanny is a better fit for you and your family.
