You’re thinking of putting up a babysitter wanted sign. You may think from then on that everything will move on smoothly. The truth is that looking for a sitter and hiring one can be stressful and time consuming. It is even more so if you do not know where to start. Here’s what you should do when you need to hire a sitter.

Start the Search

Begin somewhere. There are a couple of sources that could offer you some good babysitter prospects. You could ask for a recommendation from your friends or neighbors. You could also contact newspaper ad posters or post an ad of your own.

An Agency – Another option would be to look for a babysitter in an agency or in a sitter service. These days, agencies and services are easier to access because of the internet. Some online services are now quite cheap and very efficient in providing you with good help.

Find Out How Much

The cost is an important consideration. Once you find some prospects, you have to find out how much they are worth. Determining a sitter’s rate is not as easy as consulting the average rates in your area. The rate of your sitter would have to depend on the specific situation. You would, for example, definitely have to pay a high rate for sitters with a lot of experience. Higher rates can also be given to those who are expected to work late, watch over a lot of children and perform tasks other than child minding.

Research on Background

Your efforts don’t end when you take down the babysitter wanted sign. As soon as you find a babysitter, you have to make sure that she is absolutely the right person for the job. You have to be extra sure because you are putting the lives and safety of your kids on her hands. It would therefore be best if you interviewed your sitter extensively first. Ask her for details of her experience and if she is used to handling kids with the same ages as yours. Dig into her references too.

Chat with Your Sitter

House and Sitting Rules – If your sitter checks out okay, then you have to discuss house and sitting rules. This is important because you want your sitter’s rules to be consistent with yours. You would also want to make the experience of minding your kids as easy for your sitter as possible. The best way to do this is to give her in advance the set of house rules that you would want her to follow when minding your kids. This will give her clear guidelines to follow pertaining to bed time, meal time and dealing with bad behavior.

Find Out If Kids and Sitters Match

It would be a good idea to have a first session trial. Have your sitter mind your kids for a few hours. After the initial session, ask both your sitter and your kids how everything went. It would be best to speak to them separately so that both parties would be comfortable telling you honestly about the experience.

Educational toys are extremely popular in modern day technology, but are people making mistakes and buying the wrong ones? There are a few common factors to take into consideration when you are thinking about buying toddler learning toys for your little one.

One of the most important things to do is make sure that your child is actually interested in the toy. Does it attract their attention? Take them to the toy store with you and let them look around. If they only play with the toy for less than a minute they most likely are not interested in it. If your child did not come to the store with you-it could have cost you.

When my Son was around eighteen months old I thought I found the perfect toy for Christmas. It was a musically bench with music, lights, and bright colors-plus it was not cheap! Christmas morning he played with it for about 5 seconds, and then he played with the box it came in for about an hour. Needless to say that was a very expensive box.

Stick with toddler learning toys that are simple. Kids relate to different senses in this early age with toys, which are shape, texture, and colors. Complex toys could frustrate and could end up sitting in the toy box for a very long time.

Age appropriate toys are crucial for toddler learning toys and age restrictions should always be followed. Toys for an eight old should not be given to toddlers. These toys are complex and most likely have small parts in them so this will present a choking hazard. Guidelines are on most of the toys packaging and usually say, “Not recommended for children under 3.”

So if you just stick to a few simple guidelines which are: age appropriate toys, toys that are not too complex-simple, and toys that your child is interested in, then you should be able to find the right toy. This will pay off down the road because your child will be able to learn off of the right toy that you provided for them.

Do You Have the Right Blanket?

Cold weather, hot weather, chilly weather, it does not matter. Something to keep you warm is all that is needed to make your time at home more comfortable.

The winter months in cold states can leave a chill in your bones. If your home is not well insulated or you are turning down the thermostat to save some money, there will be a chill in the air. What better way to relax than underneath a blanket that will keep you warm.

The fall months may not require the heat to be turned on. There will still be a cool breeze. If you are like me and refuse to turn the heat on when another blanket will do the job, you will want a blanket that is soft, light weight and warm.

The summer months get really hot in some parts of the country. This is when people turn on the air conditioning. The cooler you can get the home, apartment or condo when it is hot out, the better you can sleep. At least that is the way it works for some people. Being chilly when it is hot out and climbing underneath the covers and getting warm will let you sleep for hours upon hours. You will want a blanket that is not heavy and will provide the insulation to use your body heat to keep you warm.

Blankets are great for all of the above seasons. All of the seasons really. You must know what kind of blanket to use. You will want one that is light, warm, soft and will hold the heat generated by your body. This keeping you warm. It will also allow you to save a few dollars in the winter to.

Pick the right blanket for lazy days and comfort time when that will let you sleep for a long time. Especially on your days off.

We all know how important it is to be clear when we leave instructions for our babysitter, but not everyone realizes that it is just as important to ask the right questions. You should make a list of questions for babysitter before you actually interview them.

Try not to be too invasive with your questions for babysitter. However, if it is something that could directly affect your child or you should ask the question. Basically, you will need to ask questions that are important to you. Here are some sample questions to help you get your mind headed in the right direction.

- How many years have you been babysitting?

- Do you have any health conditions that could pose a problem while you are sitting?

- Do you have reliable transportation?

- Do you have a valid driver’s license?

- Is your insurance on your vehicle current?

- Do you have any experience with special needs children?

- Do you have a current driving record or would you be willing to provide one?

- Will you pass a criminal background check?

- Have you ever been involved in a child protective service or similar organization?

- What are your religious practices?

- Would you be willing to leave your religious beliefs at the door and not imprint them on the children?

- Are you CPR certified?

- How do you feel about doing minor household chores such as dishes, picking up toys throughout the day and occasionally preparing a meal?

- If there is an emergency and there will be a delay, will there be a problem with you staying later than scheduled?

- Do you have children of your own?

- What type of disciplinary practices do you utilize?

- How would you handle a temper tantrum in a store or public place?

These might not be the questions you would ask, however this should get you headed in the right direction. You will know what questions you need to ask and which ones could be held off for the second interview.

Basically, you are trying to get a feel for how that person will treat your child in your absence. Your questions for babysitter should be specific to you, your child and your needs. If the sitter is not going to be driving your child anywhere, there is no reason to ask about insurance, license and driving record.

A home surveillance security system can range from the basic nanny cam hidden inside a stuffed animal or a wall clock to a more comprehensive system with cameras, sensors and digital video recorders. Your surveillance system should be designed based on your level of comfort and desired need.

The small nanny cam or wall clock devices help to monitor others whom may not be treating your property or your children properly while you are gone. These type of systems provide peace of mind or in some cases, proof that there is something going on. Tiny cameras hidden in a stuffed animal or other common device can record small bits of time and without cords or wires. They can sit anywhere and because they have motion sensors built in, can turn on only when people are in the room.

The more sophisticated variety allows you to monitor all external entrances to your home for potential intruders and undesirables. Using motion detectors, infrared sensors and more sophisticated cameras these systems can transmit wireless images to a central digital recorder anywhere in the home. Once installed, the system gives you the ability to record all areas of your home to ensure maximum viewing capability for quick response if needed.

In summary, a home surveillance security system can be as small as a teddy bear or as complex as a multi-camera based setup. In either case, you can use 21st century technology to help you protect your family and property to have peace of mind.

Your Special Child and a Nanny Cam

Every child is special. But in modern usage, a special child pertains to a child with behavioral, developmental, learning, physical and mental disabilities. They might have mild developmental disabilities or debilitating mental illnesses; dyslexia or schizophrenia; food allergies or cancers. The list is endless.

With your nanny cam, which you thought can only be applied for spying on your nanny, can be used to help you cope with your special child.

Initial Diagnosis

You can use your nanny cam to assist a doctor to come up with an initial diagnosis. For example, you can videotape your child’s seemingly autistic behaviors like self-inflicted pain during tantrums.

When the doctor wants more documentation of everyday activities, you can edit situations that warrant a closer look for diagnostic purposes. You can even use the nanny cam footages to convince the government that professional help should be provided to your child.

Progress Monitoring

Children act differently when a camera is visibly present and special children are no exception. Your cleverly concealed nanny cam can help you monitor your child’s progress by providing for detailed documentation, without subjecting your child to self-consciousness.

In a sense, you are making video progress reports. This way, you need not overstretch yourself about explaining the progress (or the lack thereof) to professional therapists and doctors. Also, you will have videos of your child for posterity’s sake.

Treatments Formulation

Your nanny cam footages can provide medical and therapeutic providers a tool to formulate treatment strategies. Often, your child will undergo changes in treatment approaches depending on his or her responses. Your videos can assist towards this end through video progress reports, as stated above.

Teaching your Nanny

Often, your special needs child requires extensive medical stays and visits, more tender care, and more understanding than your normal children. This is a very important issue that should be thoroughly discussed with your nanny and with other childcare providers.

You have to personally train your nanny about your child’s special needs. You cannot leave it to the medical specialists and the therapists to educate your nanny; it is already asking too much of these professionals and you might be charged extra, too!

Your cleverly concealed nanny cam should be turned on 24/7 when your special child is in his nanny’s care. If possible, get a spy camera that allows you to receive videos through your laptop and cell phone. Though nothing beats being beside your child, being informed about what happens when you are not with him comes a close second.

Teaching Your Kids

Do not underestimate the power of sibling love. You have to teach your other children to love their special brother or sister, to help him or her as best as they can, and to understand his or her special needs.

You can show them how to care for their special sibling. This does not mean that you have to give them chores towards actually caring for the physical and financial needs. A simple hug, sharing of food, playtime and a smile can do wonders for everybody.

Indeed, your special child brings special things with him. It is up to you to discover and revel in his uniqueness.

Yes….Hidden Cameras Are Beginning To Be Used More Frequently Worldwide. They are becoming a money-making new business and are beginning to be used more frequently worldwide. These hidden cameras are not only being used for safety or close watch purposes but are also used for other means.

A hidden camera or spy camera is essentially a small camera that can be hidden and is very hard to see or trace. Nanny cam technology varies from model to model. There are a number of nanny cams on the market that are as small as a battery, as other cameras can be hidden inside a pen.

Spy shops sell a wide selection of hidden cameras that can be used in any way the customer sees fit. Hidden camera gear can cost from a couple hundred dollars to thousands of dollars for state of the art technology that includes a monitor and other accessories.

Unfortunately, a lot of problems arise as hidden cameras are used greater than before. Numerous people value their privacy and do not like the thought that others can use small hidden cameras to watch, and transmit their every move. Other people view hidden cameras as part of the work place environment.

Today, nanny cam use is widespread, protection companies, limo services, confidential detectives, and anxious parents who want to watch their babysitter are few of the many industries that use them. Various owners use these surveillance cameras to keep an eye on their workers and make certain that they are doing their work properly.

Did you read the story of the drama teacher who used a hidden cell phone camera to take videos of girls changing clothes in a dressing room at a middle school? The authorities did catch him and a judge sentenced him to 9 years in state prison for sex abuse of a minor and child pornography.

Four of his victims told the judge that the violations they suffered have made them wary and mistrustful. A 12 year old stated that she now looks for cameras everywhere she goes.

After the four girls spoke out in court, then a parent of each of the girls spoke to the Judge and told of their daughters’ falling grades, counseling sessions and health problems which was attributed to their stress.

One of the girls broke down in tears. Her father told the judge that the teacher stole her innocence away. Because of what the teacher did to her, the father said his daughter took down all posters from performances that she had been involved in with that teacher. He further stated that his daughter could not sleep some nights because she thought the teacher was still watching her.

All the parents said their daughters were traumatized by what had happened to them. They isolated themselves for fear their identities as the teachers victims would be found out. One of the fathers stated that because of whispers in the hallway, a good day at school suddenly turned sour.

Investigators said that the drama teacher used a cell phone to videotape girls dressing in a room set up for costume changes. A hidden camera was positioned in a way that made it clear that the drama teacher was attempting to capture images of the girls genitalia.

The father of one 12-year-old girl said, “A glimmer of light in all this is that he is going away. The girls, they are here. He did not take their strength. They have their courage.” “These girls are going to move forward.”

As you can see….spy cameras in the wrong hands can cause a life changing experience.

Surveillance equipment are great when used correctly. It is a fact that millions of people are using nanny cams to check on their babysitters, surveillance cameras are used to keep an eye on our homes and businesses.

Surveillance cameras do catch theft, abuse and infidelity. There is no other method that can give you the proof or evidence that a surveillance camera can. Many crimes have been solved because of spy equipment. Even it the camera is hidden illegally, when found the camera will turn on the culprit and the proof of illegal use will be on tape.

Spy Gadgets Are the New Nannies

When you are younger and do not have any kids, it is difficult to imagine what parents fret about when it comes to keeping an eye on the safety of their children. Now with worldwide news available the worry-factor has increased based on the fact that child-snatches, serious abuse of infants and such-like receives major coverage. It really is not surprising then that parents are increasingly turning to spy gadgets to monitor their children and their safety.

Spy Gadgets are generally ready-made solutions for a specific purpose. The phrase ‘Nanny-Cam’ has been used in the USA for many years and it refers to a specific type of spy gadget – namely the covert spy camera. Nanny-cams have been used for many years in the form of wireless spy cameras or hard-wired camera solutions, but technology has now produced simpler and more powerful spy gadgets. Excellent examples of these are bedside Clock/Alarms with built-in 3G Camera and recording capability. These fantastic spy devices allow discreet video calling enabling parents to see in real-time what is going on in their home and if anything untoward is witnessed, they can activate recording onto SD Card in the Clock Camera. Another device of this type is another clock/alarm with built-in high quality camera and recording facility. This advanced spy device can take up to a 32GB SD Card allowing up to 64 hours of recording on motion activation

Other commonly used spy equipment are wireless cameras. These are usually hidden in a child’s teddy bear or built into the fabric of a room and have remote receiving and recording facility elsewhere in the house. Some receivers can even be connected to the family computer by USB where recording takes place and remote monitoring is possible.

It seems obvious that the market and technology would respond by providing spy equipment solutions, but what is surprising is the sophistication of the latest spy gadgets that seem to have been built for purpose. So, if you need a spy camera system at home the latest spy gadgets have provided the answer.

With crime rising and troublesome folks playing a major role in everyday life, its wise to have some sort of surveillance for your home, such as a wireless pinhole camera. Sometimes you may suspect that your spouse is cheating on you, or you’re being stalked and harassed. There may even be times when you are concerned about babysitters or nannies caring for your children. Well, here are some valuable pointers on installing up a wireless pinhole camera to help help you feel more secure. Security of yourself and loved ones are top priority. It has nothing to do with paranoia. Try to place wireless pinhole cameras in places that are legal. If you are not sure, check with your local PD to clarify any questions that may arise, especially when concerning permits. All suggestions are meant to be used within the limits of the law.

Today’s market offer an array of wireless pinhole cameras, ranging from cheap to excessively expensive. The more money you are willing to spend, the more features you will acquire and be able to use at your discretion. However, for primary purposes, a simple wireless pinhole camera and an AC adapter should do the trick. Sure, you can buy a teddy bear nanny cam, wall clock, or lamp with a camera hidden inside of it (which can be costly), but purchasing a mini wireless pinhole camera alone will cost you less money and you can place wherever you prefer.

Within my current home situation, I have wired my home to avoid invasions due my home is wired against intrusion due to people peeping through my windows and invading my privacy. To rectify the problem, I contacted my local law enforcement agency and sought their opinions. In return, they told me that it was legal to set up a wireless pinhole camera. Therefore, I logged onto eBay and learned about wireless pinhole cameras and other surveillance systems. With my current budget in mind, it was important that I find a wireless pinhole camera that was not too expensive. I found a wireless pinhole camera kit for only $40 bucks.

The wireless pinhole camera kit was mailed to me which included a receiver, two AC adapters, a cable and the tiny little wireless pinhole camera. Assembly was really easy! All I had to do was plug the adapter into the camera and another adapter into the receiver. Then, of course, plug each adapter into the wall outlet. Easy as pie! The kit included a battery hookup for wireless use, but some prefer the adapters. However, the challenging part was figuring out how to make the camera and receiver communicate and sync with my television. In the end, it was easier that I first imagined.

My surveillance receiver is color coded with video input plugs, which includes one yellow white input. I simply plugged the cables into the corresponding colors and hooked the other ends into the back of television with the matching colors. There is a knob on the side of the receiver to help adjust the picture to fit your needs. You may ask yourself “How can I find the picture” due to only seeing TV programs.

You have to find the “Video Source” button on your primary remote control. It may not look the same on all of them. Ultimately, this button controls your ability to switch your TV to DVD or VCR, etc.. There maybe different frequencies on your television so hit you “Video Source” button repeatedly until you find the correct channel. When you see a picture on the screen of a little plugged in camera (make sure the camera is connected and on) you’ve found the right one. If the screen goes blank (keep changing the frequency on the receiver until you find the right one). Then, on the wireless pinhole camera, just change the adjustable knob to until you achieve the desired picture quality.

It can become tricky trying to adjust the pinhole camera but monitoring interference will not be a problem of nay sort. Ask a friend to come over and help you so that you can take turns going back and forth adjusting the picture quality. If you want to secure the camera in place try using heavy duty double sided tape.

Using a wireless pinhole camera may not be for all but a heck of an idea for those who have victimized, vandalized, or harassed. Don’t let the offenders get the best of you or your loved ones. Now you have proof and it wasn’t too expensive or pricey. Just simply install following one step at a time and viola, your safe and secure. Now, who said you are technically challenged?
