Looking for some added security? Spy cameras may offer you just that! Perhaps you suspect some dangerous or illegal activity near your home. Perhaps you wonder what your housekeeper does all day in your house alone. Perhaps you are concerned with how the babysitter treats the children. Perhaps you just need the peace of mind knowing you can check up on things when you desire. A spy camera will give you that peace of mind.

Another common name for these cameras is nanny camera, or nanny cam, for short. This is a video camera hidden inside a common household object. This allows you to monitor your house while you are away. You can check up on the kids or monitor the activities of a nanny or housekeeper.

You can purchase nanny cameras that appear to be common household items. Nanny cams can be highly sophisticated. They can automatically switch from a very high resolution to low light recording when needed. You can also find them with night vision recording capability. You can find the basic nanny cam for around $400, but they can get very expensive if you want the more sophisticated features.

It is amazing how many types of surveillance cameras are available today. The Internet is loaded with a hundreds of sites selling spy equipment. Before purchasing from one of the Internet retailers, it is smart to check them out first. Look for any negative reviews about product quality and customer service. Send them an e-mail inquiring about a product and check out their answer and their response time

You can buy wired or wireless cameras. Wireless models will cost more, but offer more possibilities in placement. Wireless spy cameras can be disguised as everyday household items such as plants, lamps, smoke alarms and phones.

Wired cameras are less expansive than wireless ones. They are usually easy to set up and place. They can be disguised as clocks, VCRs, or other electric devices. These are very difficult to spot so you will not have to worry about detection.

Pinhole cameras are another type of spy cam. These are great when you need something small to do your monitoring. These microscopic cameras can be set into small ordinary household objects such as a tissue box. Some pinhole cameras are as small as a quarter. Pinhole cameras can be purchased already installed in the household item, or you can buy one and install it yourself.

Another type of spy cam is the body worn camera. As the name would suggest, this camera is worn someplace on your person. It can also be something you hold. Cigarette lighter cams, wristwatch cams, and cigarette lighter cameras are the most common type of body worn cameras. You can also find tie cams on the market with a microscopic camera hidden in the tie. One of my favorites is the pen camera. A tiny camera and DVD records with the click of the pen.

If you want the ultimate in security, spy cameras offer you the best of today’s modern technology. Determine the reasons you need the camera and the price range that fits your budget and begin your search. From the simplest technology to highly sophisticated microscopic cameras straight out of a James Bond movie, you have many choices.
