Choosing the Best Educational Toys

Educational toys enable children to learn as they play. Educational toys help a child acquire new skills and improve their current ones all the while having fun. Educational toys are great at this – in encouraging learning in a fun environment. Educational toys are not only fun but practical. Of course, there are important factors that a parent needs to consider in getting the best educational toys for their children:

1. Consider the child’s age when choosing educational toys. There are educational toys in the market available for all age groups. Check the labels of toys for age appropriateness. Electronic toys, breakable toys, and those with minute parts are definitely not for infants. Consider safety fore mostly. The best for smaller kids are ones that activate the senses and are good for motor skills – toys producing, sounds, turning buttons, push and pull, filling and emptying, bobbing bath toys, squishy toys, clay or shapes. A one year old would probably only throw number or letter blocks without recognizing the idea of numbers. So not too complicated; neither should you underestimate a preschooler with toys meant only for younger kids. Maybe you should challenge them with more books (picture books and pop-ups are so much fun) or chalk boards, flash cards, toy clocks and globes, and puzzles.

2. Also consider a child’s interest. A child could be interested more in sports than in music or art for example. Observe if he likes to bang things more than scribble. Try to get an idea of your child’s “field” before buying educational toys.

3. Let your child’s imagination work. Children’s play is often centered on their little worlds, and getting their minds working creatively greatly stimulates and develops their minds. The more the toy encourages creative thinking and make-believe, the better. Toys that are good at this are building blocks, arts and crafts, coloring books, stuffed animals, doll set, action figures, cars, and science and discovery toys like binoculars, archeology tools, veterinarian kits, habitats, and the likes.

4. Watch-and-learn toys are magnificent. Toys that are imitative of adults’ activities always get a child’s attention. The average cooking play set goes a long way in a child’s learning. So does sports toys like ping pong play or dad’s favorite shooting hoops basketball and profession toys like doctor’s kit.

5. Educational toys should be fun. The best way for a child to learn is probably by having fun. Whatever that interests your child stimulates his brain to get ready for learning. Educational toys serve this purpose. It is important for educational toys to be entertaining to foster brain activity stimulation. It has been scientifically proven that this brain stimulation through activating interest in a child help develop thought and reflex patterns and a good hand-eye coordination. Plus, fun is an important factor in choosing an educational toy since the child won’t even notice that lessons are being taught while he is playing. And lastly, fun is great way to get a child’s attention and focus in the first place. Thus, educational toys should be fun in the best way they could be.

Exposure to educational toys in the early formative years of learning, during times of perception with awe and surprise, when a child’s brain acts like a quick sponge absorbing great new experiences playing a huge part in a child’s capacity for learning in the later stages of his life. It is then responsibility of every parent to provide educational toys for their child to get them a head start in early development helping them explore the world around them. Grab some of these tips and watch your child maximize his abilities.

Today, many mothers are receiving the assistance they require when they hire a nanny with online nanny services. Being a working mom, you need to keep your employment and you need to stay healthy to maintain your peace of mind so that you can be there for your family. A nanny can help make your life less stressful by helping with childcare and household tasks.

Advantages of Hiring a Nanny

Keep your kids entertained: Nannies can bring your kids outside to play, go to play dates, the park, and the library. When you hire a nanny, she can offer your kids creative ideas and activities, trips, outings, and more.

Household chores: This can include laundry, picking up after the kids, and standard housekeeping/tidiness.

Meals: A nanny can cook fresh meals for your kids! Letting your children to stay home with a babysitter or nanny provides a lot of one-on-one attention and provides more freedom for you as the mother. Rather than rushing to pick your child up from daycare and get dinner on the table, you can return home to a child that has already been fed and bathed.

Health: Having a child in daycare can expose him/her to more colds and/or other sicknesses and viruses that come with being in the presence of a lot of kids. Nanny Services may help you keep your children healthier.

Chores: many working mothers take advantage of the nanny’s time with the children to free up their own time to run some errands without the children. This way, many things can get done more quickly.

Babysitting: Another advantage of a nanny is that he or she already knows your children well. When you hire a nanny, she or he can work an extra day of the week if needed and this is many time much simpler than finding a baby sitter whom the kids may not be familiar with. Nanny Services can therefore be advantageous in many ways.

Before you Hire a Nanny

Before you hire a nanny you need to have a good idea of what you are looking for in the ideal candidate and in the ideal nanny services. You will want to include these items in your caregiver contract, also called a work agreement, in the hiring process.

Are you looking for full time or part time care? Would you prefer a live in or live out nanny? What chores and tasks will you require of your nanny services? Will the caregiver provide just childcare or will she also provide housekeeping support?

How much can you afford to pay your nanny? Are you willing to hire a nanny and provide vacation time and other benefits including sick days?

What experience and qualities are you looking for in a nanny? Think about whether you would be ok to compromise education for someone that is loving and nurturing for instance. A nanny service can help you hire a nanny that meets your detailed requirements.

What sort of skills, knowledge and experience are you looking for? Should your nanny be CPR certified and have an early childhood education background?

Also, you should look at the perfect candidate’s life circumstances. Interviewing is critical when you hire a nanny. Ask her if she does have children, how old are they, is he/she single or married and settled down in the neighborhood.

Knowing these points before you hire a nanny should help you narrow down your nanny search to find the best candidate a lot faster.

As a parent with a young child, about to finish maternity leave, how do you go about finding appropriate childcare. There are many solutions to this problem. Firstly you can find a child minder who lives either en route to your workplace, or whom lives locally to make it convenient for drop offs and pick ups to and from work. Another solution would be to find a reputable nursery to allow your child to benefit from the company of many other children of a similar age as he or she grows and develops. As my children grew up, I tried both of these childcare solutions and found that although each had its own drawbacks or merits, overall they both provided equally acceptable solutions to my childcare dilemma. If I were push to choose between the two, I would favour the child minder route, but this is because my wife and I were luck enough to find an excellent child minder that went out of her way to make our working life as easy as possible.

A different approach could be to employ a nanny. Nannies can be full-time, part-time, live in or live out and the duties of each nanny vary according to your requirements which will be specified at the start of the working relationship in a document called the terms and conditions of employment. However, finding a nanny that meets your requirements is far easier than it sounds. One approach is to approach a nanny agency. The nanny agency will be able to provide you with a selection of nannies at short notice. The downside is that you will probably pay a premium price to the agency for your new nanny.

Another way to search for a nanny is to use nanny job boards on the internet to advertise your position and find your own nanny. True, you will have to go through a laborious interview process, but if your advert proves successful, you will find that this is a more cost-effective route.

A baby’s on the way! And like the well prepared parents you are, choosing equipment for your child’s room and decorating it will occupy you for days on end. It is imperative though, that throughout this exciting activity, you plan well ahead of time and consider what should make its place in your child’s room.

If we all had money to burn we could buy everything in sight for our little one. But even then, more is not necessarily better. So choosing your equipment wisely will be best for both your budget and for your child. Here are a few tips to help you choose the right furnishings for a baby room.

1) Crib

The crib is probably the most important part of a baby’s room. This is where your child will spend much of his or her time unattended. It therefore has to be safe, sturdy, and convenient. Make sure the crib bars are sturdy and do not present a hazard to your child. Crib bars are usually built 2 and 3/8 inches apart. This prevents your child from sticking his or her head and body into the gaps and getting stuck. Good cribs do not have to be expensive. They only have to be functional, sturdy and safe. Check for breaks or large gaps. Also make sure that the mattress you install here is a little bit smaller than the crib space itself. Also check with the store if the crib is waterproof.

Also avoid cribs that have sharp edges as infants usually are prone to hitting parts of their body against cribs. If your crib has padding, then that would greatly reduce the chance for injuries.

2) Toys

You will have to choose toys carefully, especially when you consider the fact that some toys can do more harm than good. Some toys will pose a choking hazard to your infant. Some overexcited parents fill up their rooms with cute toys and games. Your baby, however will not have much use for these toys as of yet, so it would be better to go slow when adding toys and stuff to your baby’s room. For starters a mobile and a rattle would do fine for babies starting to crawl. Also make sure that these toys are safe, and non-toxic, since babies will generally want to put anything that fits (and even those that don’t) into their mouths. So you will want your toys to be non-toxic and non-choking. It is generally better to skip toys until they are a little older.

3) D

Many families don’t even consider hiring a Nanny because of the cost involved. Nannies are considered to be a very costly childcare option and are therefore disregarded by many families. However what many families don’t know is that a Nanny is a much more affordable option than they ever realised. In fact for families with more than one child, especially with children under school age, a Nanny can be one of the most cost effective options available.

Fees for day nurseries and childminders continue to grow and having to pay for more than one child to go to a childminder or a nursery can be extremely expensive. A Nanny is paid a set salary which is not dependent on the number of children that they are caring for; therefore the hourly or daily rate than you end up paying can be less than the combined rate you would pay to a childminder or nursery for more than one child. In addition to this families who are entitled to tax credits to help towards the cost of childcare can now claim tax credits against the cost of a Nanny as long as that Nanny is registered with Ofsted.

Once they have overcome the stumbling block of price, most families can easily appreciate the benefits of choosing a Nanny as their childcare choice. A Nanny can offer families the level of flexibility that no other childcare option can offer. Nurseries and childminders often only work set hours which can make life for working parents a real challenge. Having a Nanny can ease the worry involved in getting through rush hour traffic to make sure you are home in time for the nursery closing.

In addition to the flexibility, many parents like the thought of their children being cared for in their own home. As well as their own toys and home comforts, parents can also work with their Nanny to ensure that their child is getting the childcare that they want for them. Experienced Nannies will be very keen to work with the family to provide consistency for the children as well as in developing a structured routine. Parents can decide what meals they want their Nanny to prepare for their children, what activities they would like them to complete and what visits and outings they would like to take them on. Additionally most Nannies will be very keen to build links with other Nannies and families in the local area to give the children they care for plenty of opportunity to interact with other children.

There are many ways to find the ideal Nanny for your family but you must make sure that you properly screen your Nanny to ensure that they are safe for you to leave your children with. Ofsted completes this process for Childminders and within Nurseries, the Nursery manager would complete this process. If you are employing a Nanny you are responsible for ensuring that this process is completed.

If you decide to find your Nanny through a Nanny agency they will complete this process for you, however many of them will charge very hefty fees so make sure that you look around and find the best agency offering the best quality at the best prices. If you decide to find your Nanny yourself, there are plenty of sites online which will help you to do this. However there is no screening involved so you will need to complete these checks yourself. You will find some agencies that will offer a screening only service if you have found your Nanny yourself which may be an option that you want to explore.

Whatever the approach you decide to take, don’t rule out a Nanny. It could be the best, most cost effective flexible childcare decision you’ve ever made.

What to Look for in a Nanny

Having a baby could be the best thing that has ever happened to you and your partner. The United Nations conventions for human rights has declared that all children born within or outside a marriage should be and will be guaranteed the same equal benefits and there will be no discrimination on that front. People try getting pregnant after they have married; some marry because they have gotten pregnant while some women especially decide to go through with motherhood all by themselves without a male or father counterpart. These are very courageous decisions to make especially single mothers and working ladies. There is absolutely no doubt about the joys that babies bring to the houses and lives of people. However some things are better said than done and nobody can truly, wholly and surely say and know how difficult the job of a mother and care giver is until and unless they get down into it themselves. We cannot take a clue from watching somebody go through with child rearing. One will always understand how different and difficult it is from what they had imagined it to be once they have had their children.

While having a baby is, without a doubt a great thing, it does not mean that life for the parents stalls there. Unfortunately childhood definitely puts a greater strain on the woman or mother in this case than on the father or man. It is always an advantage if you have your parents or family living with you but in most cases people tend to live in nuclear families. At such times it is a very good idea to hire or employ a nanny.

After maternity leave has elapsed, working women may require returning to their old jobs. At such times it is still impossible for the woman to leave her child without having someone she can blindly rely on. This void is filled up with by a nanny.

Before you employ the nanny you must consider a few points to ensure that your child will remain in safe hands and only develop for the better.you may be able to put an advertisement in the news paper and will be surprised to see how many individuals respond to the advertisement. Always hold a personal interview before you narrow down on your choice of nanny. Do not settle for the first one to approach you.

Always see that the nanny has basic educational criteria that have been fulfilled by the person. They must be fluent in the language you intend for your baby to pick up as the first language. Then make sure the candidate is responsible. You cannot rely on an irresponsible individual with your child. Make sure they arrive on time and leave on time and do the designated work sincerely. Make sure that they do not have any ***** norms and principles which disagree with yours. Make sure the nanny is a good person, who speaks the truth and has more virtues than vices. They should be able to take care of babies and be experienced in that field.

You must deliberate and arbitrate with your partner on many occasions about the candidates short listed to make sure that you’ll are both in agreement with the choice you care about to make.

While trying to predetermine what to compensate your nanny, you need to take into fact how many youngsters you have, the hours you will request your nanny to carry out, and the job responsibilities, training, and education. Another consideration in deciding the pay of your nanny is whether this will be a live-in or live-out role. If this will be a live-in position, sometimes suggesting a delightful living situation could bring your expenses down a bit.

The salaries of nannies today varies widely, but you may anticipate to pay anywhere among $9-$15/hr in more suburban regions and around $15-$20/hr in outstanding urban cities. Take into account that a nanny employed on a full time basis presumes to be compensated even if the household does not request their aid over the holidays, family vacations, ect. Your nanny relies on her salary to care for herself and their family just like any other occupation.

You have requested that the nanny preengage reserved times for your family in which the nanny is not able to find other work. If you do not plan on paying your nanny for those days you do not need them, make sure this news is clear preexisting to them working for your family in that it is not an unexpected surprise.

Because a nanny is a staff member, a lot of families select to compensate for their nanny’s health coverage as well. One way this usually works is your nanny will elect their personal plan and your family can determine what portion of it you will reimburse her for. If you determine not to pay for any of their health coverage, you may pay a marginally larger hourly salary to compensate for their expense. Employers for the most part do not pay for vision or dental coverage plans, but you can suggest to compensate for a customary eye checkup or teeth cleaning if your family would like. Aside from health insurance, and other benefits nannies today ask for and get are the following:
Compensated Holidays Compensate for Time Off (usually 2-3 weeks) PTO is possibly spent for vacation, sick or private time. Cell Phones or partial repayment of monthly cell phone bill Possible reimbursement for child development courses and CPR/First Aid Certifications Work vehicle or repayment for wear and mileage

Bear in mind it is additionally essential to assess your nanny on a routine basis and extend raises. Even a meager raise just once a year can make your nanny feel acknowledged and continue to strive to do their best!

Remember how you wished your baby would learn there is more
to life than crying, feeding and sleeping? Your wishes are
coming true. Your baby’s third month will see her become
much more interactive. So much so with some babies, that
parents secretly sigh, “Why doesn’t she ever sleep?” Wonder
what to expect in the third month?

Good night baby

Worried that your baby is still not sleeping through the
night? Most three month-old babies need at least one feed in
the middle of the night. You can try to shorten those night-
time feedings by making sure baby’s getting enough day long
and cutting down the amount baby gets at night.

Co-sleeping is convenient for those nighttime feeds. But
research has consistently shown that parents and babies both
sleep less. The reason? Your baby’s restlessness might
prompt you to wake and feed him when he probably would have
drifted off to sleep by himself.

More active and more interactive too

Exhausted after a long day of work? Trust baby’s genuine
smiles to cheer you. Your baby now probably recognizes her
parents, whom she rewards with smiles, and sometimes even ah-
goos and laughter. Talk to your baby whenever you are around
her to hone her language skills. She loves it when you
imitate her sounds.

Your baby can now perhaps raise her chest, supported by her
arms, when she lies on her stomach. She can focus on objects
and reach for them. A three-month old baby occasionally
might able to roll over one way.

When you visit your doctor for baby’s shots, it is a great
idea to prepare a list of questions to ask. Babies reach
developmental milestones at different ages, so desist the
temptation to compare your baby with another.

Feeding on demand

Parenting on schedule is definitely easier on you than
parenting on demand. But scheduling a baby must not be taken
to an extreme. Denying a baby a feed because it is not time
yet can diminish milk supply and lower weight gain.
Parenting against your philosophy is never effective. As
always, follow your instinct and baby’s cues to set a
successful yet flexible schedule.

Stimulating books, games and toys for baby

Every toy you buy for your three month-old baby does not
have to bring out his Einstein factor. A mixture of fun and
learning works best. Attractive colors, funny sounds,
mobiles and rattles interest him. It is never too early to
read to baby even though all he seems to want is to grab the
book and chew on it.

Preventing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome

You can significantly reduce the risk of SIDS or cot death
by putting baby to sleep on her back, using a firm mattress,
and preventing overheating. It might be a good idea to learn
infant CPR techniques if you are worried about SIDS.

Choosing a babysitter

It is a good idea to let baby get used to other people
besides mom and dad. Even if you are not going back to work,
an occasional night out will work wonders for your
relationship with your spouse. There are several child-care
alternatives you can choose from. Whatever you choose, watch
out for any changes or signs of discomfort in your baby.
Your baby’s disposition is the best indicator of the quality
of childcare he is getting.

In baby’s third month, her horizons are slowly expanding.
Entertain your baby and get entertained in return. You are
just beginning to reap the rewards of parenting.

When you have a baby, it is imperative to make sure that he is entertained and at the same time comfortable. In order to achieve this, you need to have a baby swing. These products have different functions to the baby as well as the mother.

When you are looking to purchase a swing, there are factors that you should consider so you get the best possible product for both you and your baby. The main factor to look for is if it is certified or not. This is because a certified swing is a guarantee that it is safe for kid use. Without this certification, it is advised that you should avoid it.

What makes this product worth is the material used which are used to enhance the safety of the child. Due to this, you have to assess the frame of this product and ensure that it is sturdy. A high quality frame will make the swing study and keep the swing from toppling over and possibly hurting your young child. On the other hand, you also need to look at the place where you want to put your baby swing. The place should be spacious enough and if not, you might have to opt for a portable swing which has a smaller footprint for confined spaces, these swings are also easily moved and stored in other areas.

For the safety of the child, you need to go for a swing that has some safety restraints like harness and seat belt. Swings are either equipped with a 3 point or 5 point harness. If your child is very mobile at this young age, you should look for a 5 point harness in a swing for his or her safety. The model has to be appropriate for the age of the baby and that if your child is an infant, then it should entail a reclining position. You should also choose a product that is well padded on the seat. This will help in keeping the child comfortable for longer periods of time. This is because it will be able to provided sufficient support for your new young one.

When choosing a swing also keep in mind your daily activities. If your usually busy with little free time, try looking for a swing that is battery operated instead of a wind-up model. This will help in freeing up your hands so you will be able to accomplish more during the day when your baby is awake. You also need to look for other additional features like a music player or volume controls. There are those that play the music automatically while there are those that only play the music after they have been switched on. This can help the child when he or she wants to swing quietly. In addition there are those that have built-in mobiles that hang above. These are also recommended for they will enhance the playing time of the child.

Worth noting is that baby swings are available in different styles and colors. This makes it possible to select on one that will cater to the needs of your child in terms of color and style. And lastly, you need to consider the price. These products have different price points based on the manufacturer and features of the swing.

This wonderful piece of spy or surveillance equipment gets its name from the fact that it was originally designed and created so that people could keep an eye on in-home workers, specifically the nanny. Whether they’re referred to as hidden nanny cams or nanny camera or a hidden spy cam, they are essentially the same thing.

They’re an incredibly easy to hide camera and DVR that can catch suspects in the act.

Basically, what happens is this: a manufacturer begins with an everyday object. Maybe it’s a boombox, a wall clock, a desk speaker, even an EXIT sign. Then, they add a very small pinhole camera into the unit in such a way that unless you really go looking for it, you will not see it. Finally, the manufacturer adds a small DVR or some form of memory stick to record the video onto. What’s crazy is that, since the original unit is a fully functional item, it remains as such. What I mean is that the boombox still works; the wall clock still works; the speaker still works; and, yes, the EXIT sign still works. So, anyone checking it out will not know that it’s not only just the item they think it is.

Hidden nanny cams are used regularly to catch an abusive nanny, a cheating spouse, and even a stealing child. They’re also used in the office environment to catch thieving employees and more. They get placed where you’d expect to see them. The wall clock camera gets placed on the wall in the dining room where it can keep an eye on the nanny who is supposed to be nurturing the child. The EXIT sign gets placed near the exit door. Then, they’re positioned in such a way that they can see the desired area well. A couple of test recordings later and they’re ready. They really don’t take more than a couple of minutes to set up.

If you go looking for hidden nanny cams, you’ll see how many different models there are. We only touched on a few in this discussion, so far. But, know that there are more than 20 different models. There are even some that are built into sunglasses. So, someone could be watching you and recording you at the same time. Some look like keychain remotes, writing pens, alarm motion sensors, and so much more. You might be surprised to know that someone may already have some footage of you. Hope you weren’t doing anything you weren’t supposed to.
