With so many different kinds of spy cameras and micro spy nanny cams to choose from, it can be a bit daunting to actually distinguish one nanny cam from another. So, in the service of public interest and safety, here’s a simple list that you can follow of all the various types of spy cameras which are on the market today.
Hidden Spy Nanny Cams

These are the most common types of spy cameras the people are usually looking for. Usually disguised like a simple everyday household or office item like a pen holder or a desktop calculator, hidden spy nanny cams usually have the camera lens (and sometimes the receiving device as well) built right into the item itself. Nobody will ever figure out that there’s an advanced nanny cam in the room watching and monitoring every move that’s taking place.
Internet IP Spy Nanny Cams

Internet IP spy nanny cams hook up to any computer – either desktop or laptop – and can transmit video images directly to your computer screen. What makes these types of nanny cameras so effective is that people can enjoy and experience peace of mind no matter where they are and no matter what they’re doing. In fact, there are internet IP spy nanny cams that are so powerful, they can transmit video surveillance to any computer – no matter where it is in the world.
Self-Contained Spy Cams

Much like hidden spy nanny cams, self-contained spy cams are nanny cameras which are contained or kept inside other objects. However, what makes self-contained spy cams so beneficial is that, for the most part, they do not require a VHS or other video recording device separate from the camera itself. Everything that’s needed for safe and reliable camera operation and recording is built directly into the unit itself – giving you a high-tech camera that blends into any home or office locale.
Wireless Spy Cams

With more and more electronic items becoming wireless, it was only a matter of time before spy cameras took their rightful place in the wireless parade. Wireless spy cams are incredibly easy to set-up and use, thus mitigating the overriding factor as to why people avoid purchasing wireless spy cams in the first place. And because wireless spy cams don’t have any wires, cords or cables to worry about, you can rest assured knowing that they’ll always be hiding in plain sight and always be on guard without anyone ever detecting them.
Micro Spy Nanny Cams

The smallest of the small, micro spy nanny cams takes big camera technology and puts it inside the smallest possible disguise. Usually, the lens of a micro spy nanny cam is no bigger than a pinhole, and the camera itself is but only a few millimeters across in size. However, these tiny spy cameras pack a big punch, as they usually possess an incredible viewing area that catches everything that’s taking place.
Body Worn Spy Nanny Cams

For covert recording and surveillance in a public or outdoor setting, nothing compares to the quality and reliability that body worn spy nanny cams can provide. These are cameras that you can take with you for all your spying needs, but they aren’t bulky and they won’t compromise your mission or your objective. Whether the camera is hidden in a stick of gum, or in an everyday looking pair of sunglasses, body worn spy nanny cams take your spying activities to the street.
CCTV & Bullet Spy Nanny Cams

For maximum protection and security for the home or office, many people turn towards CCTV & bullet spy nanny cams. These are tough, strong and durable nanny cameras that work in any weather or environmental condition. Full-color cameras which are capable of recording both during the day or night, CCTV & bullet spy nanny cams are perfect for those looking for the ultimate in home or office safety.

A nanny camera can be another set of eyes for you in keeping tabs on your kids when you’re not there. It is almost like having a babysitter for the babysitter or nanny. You can improve your home security with a nanny camera too, not just by keeping on eye on the babysitter; but if you have it positioned properly, you can watch the front door and catch burglars on video should they enter your house.

So a nanny camera can do a lot more than just keep an eye on the babysitter. If you suspect that you have an unfaithful spouse, a nanny camera can catch him. If things are disappearing around your house and you suspect someone is stealing from you, a nanny camera is good way to catch them with their hand in the cookie jar.

There are many hidden spy cameras to choose from that have different capabilities. Here are three of the best nanny cameras for you to consider for your home security.

1. The spy clock DVR with projection display. It is an alarm clock radio with AM/FM and a motion activated spy camera. The time projection display features nine LEDs for bright illumination. The DVR has multiple recording modes including manual, alarm, motion detection and continue. All video is date time stamped. Video is recorded on up to a 32 GB ST card that is not included. All functions can be done by remote control.

2. One of the most popular is the Tissue Spy Camera DVR. This low lux night vision camera can record in almost complete darkness. It uses a Sony CCD wide-angle 104 degree 2.5 mm mini lens. You can use up to a 32 GB SD card to record video. It uses motion activation which allows you to only record when there is activity. The 4 GB SD card that comes with the camera can record up to 24 hours of color video.

3. Another very popular hidden spy camera is the infrared motion alarm spy camera DVR. It is a working motion sensor alarm that can detect even the most miniscule movements. In addition, it is a fully functioning DVR that can record video. The remote control functions work up to 100 feet away. It has multi-alarm triggering, remote control operation and a wall mounting unit.

These are three of the best spy cameras for use as a nanny camera. The reason they are so effective is because no one would ever suspect that they are being recorded which makes them effective in other settings like office or business use as well.

Are hidden nanny cameras legal?

This is an important issue particularly to parents who are considering using a nanny service for the first time. Employing nannies are now becoming a necessity as often in a family, both parents are working. Because of this, understanding nanny camera laws is of great importance.

Nanny cameras are often necessary to keep an eye on the person tasked to look after your children. A nanny’s true behavior is usually found out in the first month or two. If you want to know if your nanny smokes in the presence of your kids, installing a spy cam is the best solution. A hidden camera can also let you know if your hired sitter spends enough time with your child, pays enough attention to the child or if she is abusing the child physically or emotionally.

Generally, it is legal to videotape nannies even without their permission or knowledge but using spy cams with audio can and will have legal consequences. Audio taping people without their permission or knowledge falls under ‘wiretapping’ and ‘eavesdropping’ which are punishable by law. However, the laws governing the use of devices that can record voice vary from state to state so it is best to check with your local laws to confirm.

Everyone have certain expectations of privacy in private places like in bathrooms, bedrooms, locker rooms and in their own homes but we should not expect to have privacy in the homes of other people. Proponents of nanny cameras, parents and indeed the court have all agreed that setting up nanny cameras in people’s own homes to monitor sitters is NOT an invasion of privacy.

Videotapes made by a nanny camera installed in a home can be admitted and used in court as evidence in a lawsuit filed against a nanny. This is especially true in states where the local law does not say anything about protecting the nanny’s privacy in the home of her employers because the court will automatically interpret this as the Constitution’s inability to protect the nanny’s privacy in another person’s house.

Videotaping a nanny with a hidden camera that does not include audio does not violate the Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Control Act. And besides, parents who install nanny cams in their homes are consenting to their child being taped. Although the issue about audiotaping a nanny without her consent splits the states, many do agree that it is perfectly legal to videotape a nanny without her knowledge as long as there is no sound.

So there you go, according to nanny camera laws in the United States, using hidden nanny cameras are legal as long as you are careful not to set up nanny cameras that also capture or record audio.

Hidden nanny cameras are no super spy secrets. Everybody knows about these gadgets, including the target, the nannies. The challenge lies in hiding these cleverly. Want to try these tips?

How to Catch Ogre Nannies

Like your boss, you want your nanny to be productive and not waste time snoozing or using the phone for personal calls. In your case, you also want to be sure that your nanny is not shaking the baby or kicking the kids around. But nannies know about the hidden nanny cameras and the ogre-types know where to kick, shake, rattle, and roll.

It is a nuisance that ads for nanny cams also advise where you can hide the tiny gadgets. But you can pull a fast one by being more creative with your hidden nanny cameras. Yes, it’s true that it’s against the law not to inform that nanny that you have electronic spies in the house. But if you are not living in California or Massachusetts, you do not have to give the nanny a nanny cam map.

Hiding the Nanny Cameras

So where else can you can you hide the nanny cameras? Every conceivable place has been thought up by great spy minds. Even helpless furry teddy has been enlisted to keep an eye on the nanny! Here are some novel ideas where to keep your nanny cameras hidden:

* Obviously, the nanny knows there are hidden nanny cameras in the nursery. She will behave there, even without a spy camera. But it is better to be sure to hide one there. Have you thought about placing a framed picture near the head side of the crib or the baby’s bed? You can see the nanny’s face if she is smiling or scaring the baby with an ugly scowl.

* The kitchen is another popular area, but where can you set up the hidden nanny cameras without being redundant? Think about a wide sweep and a close up to check how the nanny prepares food for the children. Hide the camera in a mirror lamp on the counter where food is usually prepared, and on the ceiling install a smoke detector clone, which is in reality, a camera.

* The bath is an accident-prone area. Install the camera on the wall where a view of every move can be captured. Do not place the camera where movements can be obscured. Your nanny may not be able to explain the bump on your baby’s head, but the camera will tell all.

* Use the pinhole camera in the living room. This is where nannies spend their time watching TV. Check if she is watching adult movies instead of letting the kids watch their favorite cartoon show. Children are impressionable and pick up what they see and hear. Be alert to this.

* If you have watched YouTube videos showing nanny brutality, most of them show the nanny’s back and the baby cannot be seen. You could not see if the nanny was pinching or squeezing the baby. Avoid this oversight, place hidden nanny cameras on both walls.

If you’ve caught the nanny being abusive on tape, fire her on the spot. Don’t wait until more harm will happen to the children.

Nanny Cameras

My spouse and I had some slight worries regarding how our nanny was caring for our one year old daughter. But, she seemed to be very gentle and caring to our child. Our nanny had outstanding recommendations and we also made a civil background check before we hired her.

We purchased three DVR Air Freshener Color Hidden Cameras. We picked it from the many choices of Security Camera Systems in the market. It is great because nobody knows that our air freshener has a color camera, small DVR and an SD card that records what our camera is seeing.

We just plug the device into a wall socket to activate it. We can watch the recordings by using an RCA cable included in the package and connect it to our television or we just put in our SD card into our computer.

One day, one of our security camera systems installed in the kitchen, clearly captured that she was reaching a plastic sachet with white stuff from her underwear and putting the stuff in my baby’s cereals. The nanny fed the cereals to our child and then placed a little more in his feeding bottle.

We were stunned! We brought our child to her pediatrician and she had urine and blood tests. When we finally got the test results, we were informed that my baby was given sedatives.

So, we contacted the police and a few of them saw the video caught by our camera. The nanny was taken into custody and charged the following day.

The police officer said it would be difficult to confirm the case if there was no video. Everything she did was there. We are thankful to our Security Camera Systems! Without them we would not have known of our nanny sedating our child. Franck A Kellee helped me with all of my surveillance and hidden camera needs.

A nanny cam allows you to see exactly what is going on in your home with your child while you are not home and ensures that your child is safe and cared for in a way that you approve of.

If you are one of the many parents that turn to a nanny to care for their children, chances are you have though about a nanny cam but may have dismissed the thought because they seem like an expensive undertaking. The truth is that a nanny cam that will allow you to see exactly how your child is being cared for and will provide you with priceless peace of mind can cost as little as one hundred dollars. Installation is also easy and most people can even install nanny cameras entirely by themselves from picking the location to setting up the transmitter and monitoring device.

If you are considering a nanny camera to protect your child, there are a few factors to consider before making your purchase. You do not have to spend a fortune or have your nanny camera professionally installed, but there are still many features that you may or may not need. Before you purchase your nanny camera think about if you want your nanny cam hidden, how you want to watch the video feed, where you want to place your nanny cam, and how many cameras you will need.

Many parents use nanny cameras that are hidden because then they get to see what a nanny is like when they think no one is watching. There are many types of nanny cams that are designed to be hidden and come in a variety of appearances such as radios, clocks, smoke detectors, plants and even toys. Small cameras can also easily be concealed even without being embedded in other objects.

When you buy a nanny camera you must also think about how you want to watch the video feed. Most cameras allow you to use a recording device that allows you to transmit the video to a recorded for later viewing as well as transmitting to a computer or TV so that you can view the video in real time. Whichever method you prefer make sure the nanny camera you choose is compatible with your preferred viewing method.

You will also want to decide if you want a wired or wireless camera. A wireless camera can be put in a variety of different places and is more discreet. Wired cameras will also work with a regular electrical outlet but a wireless camera relies on batteries that must be changed or recharged periodically.

Can Hidden/Nanny Cams be legally used in your home?

Currently, it is legal in all states to make a video-only recording of anything happening in your home, at any time, without informing anyone. Because the camera is hidden has no effect on this concept. As long as your camera is video only (no sound is being recorded), then you can do whatever you want with it, in your own home.

It is illegal to record someone’s voice without their permission in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Washington State. If you live in any of these states, be sure the hidden camera/nanny camera DOES NOT record sound before buying one.

Can Hidden/Nanny Cams be legally used in the workplace?

This depends on your employer’s intentions. The main issues are where the employer wants to put the cameras and why. Employers must have a reasonable, legitimate business reason for wanting to monitor employees by camera, such as for security reasons or to prevent theft. Some states have made certain areas of the workplace off-limits to cameras, such as restrooms.

A very important thing to know about cameras in your workplace is that your employer is required to let you know that they are there.

NOTE: Since laws change from state to state at any time, it is advisable to check your state laws before purchasing a nanny cam.
