In today’s world, finding a nanny for your child can be quite a challenge. In fact the task often feels near impossible for some parents. Where have all the good nannies gone? Answer: They’re probably already taken! But don’t let that deter you as there are still some good Nannies out there and there are a number of things you can do to snag one, before someone else does.

#1 – Let Everyone Know You Are Looking

This may seem obvious but you wouldn’t believe the number of parents that fail to do this. Let everyone know, especially other parents, that you are looking for a good nanny. The more people you talk to, the more people will be on the lookout for you and the greater chance they might refer you to one.

#2 – Use the Community Centers and Libraries

If you have a community center or library nearby, take a trip there and see whether they have any local bulletin boards where you can view “Nanny Available” ads or even place your own “Nanny Wanted” ads completely free. The best part of doing this is that the nannies listed or responding to your ads will more than likely be local to you where you live.

#3 – Go to the Park

Why the park? Because that’s where all the nannies are! Taking your child to the park is a great way to meet nannies and since nannies typically have a large circle of friends who are also nannies you’ll find that once you start talking to some of them, they will very often know of a nanny friend who’s looking for a position. Visiting the park during weekdays is best for this as that is when nannies are most likely to be there.

#4 – Go to the Web

The internet has a number of resources you can use to find a Nanny. When considering the internet, most people might automatically think of classified ad sites such as Craigslist. Though these can be effective, even better resources are Nanny Search sites. Nanny Search sites are websites where available nannies post their profile for parents to view. The profile may include details regarding their age, where they live, their child care experience, and even their salary expectations. If a parent is interested in a nanny, they simply contact them via e-mail or phone. Though the majority of these nanny sites are free only to nannies, there are a select few that are free to everyone; both nannies and parents.

#5 – Use an Agency

Lastly, if you can afford it, an effective way to find a nanny is to use an agency. There are numerous agencies out there to choose from. When searching for an agency, pay close attention to their number of years in business and ask for references from other parents who have used them in the past.

Whichever method you use to find a nanny, once you find one it’s very important to ensure you interview them, perform background checks, and most importantly use your intuition; if something doesn’t feel right, it usually means something isn’t right. Finding a good nanny can be a real challenge but utilizing these five tips will make it an achievable one.

How to Get Babysitting Jobs

Unfortunately, thanks to all of the perverts, the scammers and the predators out there, posting an ad on the internet-even offering yourself up as a babysitter-is kind of a dangerous thing to do. Of course, so is posting an ad for yourself in the paper, on a community center bulletin board… when did the world get so dangerous?

The simple truth is that you can still post ads for babysitting jobs online and offer up your babysitting services through bulletin boards and web portals and job hunting sites. The trick is to be careful-especially if you are under age. Always have a parent go with you to meet your potential babysitter job clients before the actual job is to take place.

Your clients will be impressed that you are thorough and, if the situation is scary or not what you thought it would be, you have a parent there to protect you. Another good idea is to arrange to have more than one meeting with the client before accepting the job: one to meet the parents and one to meet the kids. This gives you and the family more time to get to know each other in a friendly and safe environment so that the parents will not feel as if they are being forced to leave their children in the hands of a stranger. Of course, there are other ways to get babysitting jobs than simply posting ads for yourself and hoping that a babysitter job is the result. Be pro active!

Try to find a job that lets you work with kids on a regular basis: volunteer in the children’s room at the library or at a community center. Community funded child care programs are always looking for help and they do thorough background checks-which will put parents’ minds at ease when they see the centers on your resume. You might also volunteer at an after school or before school program. These can help you get in touch with parents who have evening babysitting jobs to offer.

Another good resource is to make contact with the teachers at your local elementary schools and colleges. Talk to the teachers and ask if they might mind recommending you for a potential babysitter job or two to help you get your name out there and among the parents. Finally – as much as you might not want to-you might try letting your parents spread the word that you are looking for babysitting jobs. Perhaps they have a friend or coworker who needs a babysitter!

Finding a babysitter job for yourself takes time and effort and, frankly, can be a little scary. There is more to it than simply announcing that you have decided to become a babysitter and hoping that people will call you. In today’s society even babysitters need to market themselves, especially if they want to get any babysitting jobs!

There are some places to post a babysitter needed ad, but make sure you choose the right ones to make your search more efficient. Every parent knows how difficult it is to find a babysitter who can be trusted. You should remember to advertise exactly what you’re looking for in a babysitter.

Online sources are probably your best bet when it comes to putting up a babysitter needed ad. There are numerous websites that offer free classifieds advertising for both parents looking for babysitters and babysitters looking for someone to hire them. But how do you know which sites have the most clients and babysitter applicants? In this case you should look for a site that is reputable and well known in your area. Get some references from family, friends, colleagues and neighbors.

You might want to go straight for an online babysitting agency. Once you’ve found a reputable babysitting agency, review its services, options and features. It’s best to go with an agency that offers free tutorials for parents looking for a babysitter. Scan over babysitter available ads and check if any of them look promising. If not, post your own ad. Avoid posting any personal details, rather, simply include experience requirements, how often you’ll need a babysitter and the age of your child or children. You may put up any other relevant requirements, such as if you’ll hire only non-smokers and if you need a babysitter who can cook or offer some tutoring for your kids.

There are many other alternatives you have. You could post a babysitter needed ad in schools and colleges. These places usually have bulletin boards where anyone can post advertisements for free.
