That-BAM!-girl! asked:

I haven’t because money tight at home and it’s expensive and there’s eight families on my street with kids, no one else babysitting, but they will not hire me. I’m qualified in first aid, Heimlich… I’m super great with kids, I have family references. Why?
I am experienced in CPR, police came to school to show us and we try, and watched three videoes to clarify.

My appearance is 8 out of ten, I’m less than my weight is supposed to be, but it’s only cause I’m in a lot of sports.

I already went around the block, made flyers and everything. Nothing
I am to be in high school in the fall.

Babysitting Tips

ExternalDestinyHope asked:

American Red Cross offers a class in babysitting, FYI (: That will help you gain knowledge and experience before babysitting! It teaches you about changing babies, CPR on children, etc! I hope this video helps people out there!! Babysitting is a lot of work, but it’s fun to play with the children!!

Your Number 1 Job As a New Mother

There are a lot of things you have to do after bringing home a new baby. You need to feed the baby at regular intervals throughout the day and night which requires a great sacrifice of sleep. There is also the responsibility of basic care and keeping the baby safe from all forms of danger. Yet, there is one job that every new mother has to put above all others: bonding with the new baby.

Bonding is the number one job of every new mother. Some may put safety above bonding, but this isn’t necessarily the right order. Safety is more of a given while bonding is an essential that not every mother takes seriously.

When It Doesn’t Come Natural

For most new mothers, bonding just comes naturally. They can’t stop themselves from staring at their new baby and inspecting every tiny part of the baby’s body. They love rubbing the ultra soft baby skin and putting their nose down to the baby’s head and inhaling deeply. These are things that most new mothers just do naturally, but for some bonding can be a very difficult thing that they have to put real effort and work into.

There may be a general lack of motherly instinct for some new parents or there may be depression or other emotional issues that stand in the way of normal parent/child bonding. These cases are not very common, but when they do occur it can bring great shame and embarrassment on the mother. They may try to hide the fact that they are struggling to feel that close bond with their baby.

It is important for new mothers to tell someone that they are struggling to bond with the baby. There may be things that can be done to improve the problem before the baby suffers from the lack of bonding. It is best to have a confinement nanny on hand as they can recognize when bonding is a struggle and step in to help without shaming or embarrassing the new mother.

In some cases, fear of harming the baby or not being able to keep the baby safe can interfere with bonding. In this case, it is best to have a confinement nanny on hand to help. The nanny can give the mother reassurance that the baby is safe and make sure that all of the baby’s needs are tended to. A nanny gives great security and peace of mind for very anxious or paranoid new mothers.

The Importance of Bonding

Whether bonding with your new baby comes naturally or you have to work at it a bit harder, it is important to make this your number one priority during the confinement period. This bond will build up trust between you and the baby so they lean on you for support and love as they grow. It will also make the baby feel very secure and cared for so they are able to grow mentally and physically in a healthy manner.

Babies who do not bond well with their parents as infants often grow up to struggle with trust, intimacy, and personal boundaries. They may either crave attention and love to a dangerous degree or they may not be able to handle close emotional attachments. This stems from the lack of emotional care and trust as infants.

Selecting a Good Care Giver

Care givers are very responsible for a house. In a family of busy schedules, planners and organizers filling the tables, it is the care giver or the house keeper who takes care of the house and fills it with love, care and affection. Housekeepers in Jersey or in any part of the world will have to do the same thing, providing care and support – but in a different context. The job is very delicate and it has to be handled with care. It also gives us an alarm that the selection of these people requires better strategies and evaluation patterns.

An interview

This requires a different set of activities. There will be many interviews to be faced. There should be an interview for all the people in the family with the one who is applying for the job. The series of interviews must show the caregiver the overall picture of your house and your culture; this will help the nanny to get involved very quickly once she is into the job. Pick a nanny who is positive.

Experiences

They also mean experiences as a care giver or a mother or a sister. Also consider her family details, the way in which she was brought up, her previous experiences and glimpses of past life. Ensure that she clarifies herself before getting into the job. She will be the most experienced one. That is a check point.

Be diplomatic in choosing, because this means a lot to you. Be very open and sound in expressing your ideas. Ask your children or elders whether she will form the best nanny of the house.

4 Tips For Finding a Host Family

The process of finding a suitable host family for an au pair is just as daunting as the host family finding someone they can trust to look after their children. As an au pair, you are likely to be a long way from home so finding a compatible host family where you will be happy is very important. Here are four handy tips for what to look for in a host family.

Tip 1 – The Children

It’s important to consider how many children you feel you can effectively look after. For some au pairs, looking after one child is enough whilst other au pairs like living in a larger household and looking after more than one child at a time. It’s also important to consider what age children you would most like to look after. After all, you will be spending a lot of time with the children so you need to ensure you will be able to both satisfy their needs and allow them to have fun, whilst also enjoying yourself.

Tip 2 – What is Expected of You

All host families have a slightly different idea about what role they want their au pair to take. In some cases, you will be expected just to look after the children, whilst in other cases you may be required to undertake cooking, cleaning and even shopping on behalf of the family. It’s important to ensure that your role and various tasks it encompasses are agreed in advance of travelling and that they are contained in a contract.

Tip 3 – Pocket money

There is no set amount of pocket money that a family may give you and they can choose to pay you in cash or directly into your bank account. Generally in the UK, pocket money varies between £70 and £90 for a 25 hour working week. However this varies between region and depends a lot on the roles involved and the number of hours you are expected to work. It is also important to ensure that any pocket money is agreed in advance of travelling and that it is written into the contract.

Tip 4 – Other Benefits

As well as pocket money, au pairs can also receive other benefits from the host family. The most common is to receive a contribution towards any college fees in order for you to improve your English skills. Another common benefit is to have access to a car whilst you are working for the family, and usually the running costs of this are also covered. In some cases, the car can only be used when transporting the children, but in other cases, au pairs can use the car for personal purposes too. As with everything else, ensure your contract covers any extra benefits.

It is very common for a confinement lady to hire a confinement nanny prior to delivering her baby, but there are some women now questioning whether this is really necessary. Do you have to hire a confinement nanny as a confinement lady, or is it possible to survive this period of your life without that extra help?

For starters, it is important to point out that a confinement nanny is much more than a bit of extra help. They bring a lot more into the home than just a couple of extra hands to do daily chores and cook meals. You aren’t hiring a maid, but a professional who knows all about the confinement period.

What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You

No matter how many babies she has had, a confinement lady never knows it all. There are a million different things that can happen after you have a baby and you never know what or when these things are going to occur. She could have five very healthy pregnancies and experience almost the same things in confinement each time. Then suddenly the sixth baby has health problems, is colicky, or otherwise throws her a loop and proves much more difficult to handle.

Convincing yourself that you know it all and do not need a confinement nanny is always a big mistake. As soon as you do this something will come up that you don’t know how to handle and you will be on your own. A professional confinement nanny will always know what to do and therefore they are a complete necessity for every confinement lady.

What you don’t know about confinement can hurt you and there is always something you don’t know!

Just Get Your Rest

If nothing else, a confinement nanny is essential to ensure that the lady gets enough sleep to feel good and take care of her baby. If there is no one else in the home to take care of the baby so the new mother can get some rest, then a confinement nanny is someone who can take professional care of the baby so sleep can be obtained on a routine basis.

While the confinement lady is sleeping, a confinement nanny will also do some of the household chores and other tasks that would otherwise fall on the shoulders of a sleep deprived, overly exhausted confinement lady. Even if a nanny does nothing else but basic chores and babysitting so the confinement lady can get some sleep, she will be more than worth her fee.

So, the answer to the question is yes. Every confinement lady does need a confinement nanny, regardless of how many times she has gone through confinement. Every baby is different and every pregnancy ends in a different way. There is no guarantee that things will all go smoothly or that everything will be just the same as they were in previous confinement periods.

You need a nanny to ensure the health of your baby and your own body. There is a lot at stake here and you should never take risks in this department. Bring in your confinement nanny prior to becoming a confinement lady and you will have a happy, healthy baby and adequate rest. With a nanny you can have it all.

Some will claim that the first two or three years of parenting can be the most demanding and difficult time out of all the stages; others will claim that the teenage years are by far the more difficult to deal with. Both are right in that all families are different and have their own unique problems. Some families will find the teenage years the easier as their children become more mature, while others encounter nothing but problems. It all depends on how the parents raise their children and how close their family unit is. The first few years of parenting are enjoyable for most, without doubt, but it can also be a trying time, especially for people who are on their first child and are going through it for the first time.

How much trouble can a baby under three years be? They can be no trouble, but then they can seem like a lot of trouble. It all depends on the mood, the circumstance and whether the baby was planned for or not. All of these can have an impact on whether the child is seen as an added complication or not. Whatever the circumstance, most made the choice at some point to have the child and few regret it. For about the first three years of its life, the child is completely dependent on its parents and requires a lot of attention, especially from the mother because she is often the primary caregiver. It can be both exhausting and rewarding. It can be exhausting in that the child has no regular sleep or eating patterns, can sometimes seem like it is always crying and finding a babysitter for the first few weeks is not in question as it needs its mother the most at that time. Seeing the child grow and develop; taking its first few steps, saying its first word and becoming a little more independent can make it all worth it for the parents.

People thinking about becoming parents will often focus more on the good things about it and forget about considering the fact that it can be a strain on the marital relationship, especially if they are not prepared for it. A couple has to ensure they are ready to take on the responsibility before making the decision, because not being ready could lead to many complications in the near and far future. This is why it is often recommended that parents who are seriously considering a child should consider online therapy. An online therapist and an online counselor are available for anyone who is looking for answers, suggestions and advice. The online therapist can discuss the reality of parenting with the couple and can make it all clear in an impartial way so that the parents are aware of the choice they are considering.

Communication through online counseling in regards to parenting can help in that the online therapist can help the couple decide whether or not they are really prepared to become parents; some will be ready, but others might not be ready. When having a child, it is always better for the parents and their relationship to be prepared for the added responsibility and extreme change to their life. One must also remember the possible child in this. Whether a couple is ready or not will have a direct impact on how the child is raised, as well as how they develop mentally.

Choosing a Baby Formula

You might find yourself in a stage where you will consider giving the baby bottle milk. This may be your first choice for some reasons or you may need to change from breastfeeding to bottle after a while. Whatever the case, chances are that you have many questions on bottle feeding.

There are three main types of formulas right now in the market. Ready to use formulas, concentrated and powdered. All types have advantages and disadvantages and you should choose according to your babies needs and habits. Let’s start with the newest kind which is the ready to use formulas. This type of milk is already made and all you have to do is open the can and serve it. It is very convenient and fast. You don’t have to prepare the milk, you don’t have to measure anything. All you have to do is carry the can and have the meal ready in a second. It is also very convenient for premature babies because it is sterile and you can be sure that you’re developing baby will be safe. The main problem with ready to use formulas is that the cost is very high. It costs approximately 25% more a meal.

Another choice is concentrate formula. This product is ready but requires mixing with water so that you can feed your baby. This means that you will have to have access to clean water all the time and everywhere you go. If you visit someone on the field or travel a lot, make sure you have everything you need. If your house uses a well, make sure the water is clean enough for babies. The other thing to pay attention to is the dosages. Make sure you have read and understood the instructions on the package so that you learn to prepare the meal correctly.

Your other choice is the powdered formula. This type of milk is powdered milk that comes in a can box that makes it very easy to carry with you. Powdered milk is the least expensive from the three and has many advantages that make it the most popular choice. It has a long shelf life so you don’t have to worry about using it all in a specific time. It is not expensive and you can take it with you as it occupies little space. The main advantage here is that you can make as much milk as you need. These means that you can prepare a whole meal or just a quarter. If you use breast milk and only need some supplement, powdered milk will help you a lot. Otherwise you might be wasting much product. The main disadvantage on the other hand is that at first you will need some time to prepare the meal. But you will get faster once you understand the dosages.

Other things you can consider are the milk the product uses, cow milk, soy milk for allergic infants and more. There are also formulas that contain extra nutrients and iron combined with calories ideal for pre mature babies. So chose the product that covers your needs.
