Children are invaluable and parents are willing to protect their welfare at all costs. Increased reports of nanny and childcare provider abuse has spurred an increase in the sales of nanny cams and related surveillance equipment. One international retail chain reports an increase of 25% over the past five years alone.
Cases like that of Stephanie Merrill, who carelessly handled and often endangered seven month old twins and was discovered only because of a diligent parent’s efforts to install a nanny cam only add fuel to the fire in terms of their increased popularity. According the Ruth Sheenan of the National Observer, there are many accounts where children have been harmed or even killed while in a childcare provider’s care and there has been absolutely no legal recourse – Child Fatality Task Force. Parents are desperate to find a way to feel confident about their children’s care and welfare during the workday. Nanny cams provide that peace of mind for many individuals, more and more literally everyday.
The decision to install a nanny cam presents two distinct and equally beneficial options for some in terms of implementation. You may choose to view your children’s caregiver and children without their knowledge and consent, allowing you to freely view the quality and content of their interactions at ease. In contrast, you may feel uncomfortable with the “covertness” of a nanny cam and prefer rather to notify your nanny of the existence of but not disclosing the locations of the surveillance devices. This action automatically presents a strong deterrent to any negative or neglectful activity that could endanger your children and provides you with the ability to look in on them throughout the day. Many Childcare Centers across the country are now providing a web cam link via the internet for families using this same premise with tremendous success and positive consumer feedback.
Nanny cams are the next “car seat” in terms of child protection. Responsible, concerned parents all over the country are beginning to recognize numerous benefits and true peace of mind by enlisting in-home video surveillance equipment.

Nanny Cams as they are popular known as are surveillance cameras installed on the interior of a home or office. Correctly named as it is used to keep a watch over the one who watches your children. These cameras don’t really set alarms off in case of a burglary but they monitor and video tape everything that goes on which is extremely good in providing ample proof for identification in the case of any misdeeds.
The cameras also have a security purpose that is often over looked or missed by parents, say a parent has come home tired but still needs to monitor the child, they can actually do so very easily with the camera while attending to their own chores. They can see their child who is another room in real time and continue doing their own activities while maintaining their peace of mind that the child is alright and can take care of themselves.
If you are using the camera in the house for monitoring your nanny then you should also keep aware of the laws in taping somebody, it is actually illegal in some states to have video equipment that also records the voice of the person without their permission. This is definitely a good investment if you have children at home and would like to monitor the nanny so before buying a camera ask a few questions and the retailer himself should be able to educate about the filming laws in your state.
A nanny cam is installed more for the peace of mind for the parent than anything else. In the sad case where the child or children are mistreated you can be sure that the culprit is on camera and cannot evade justice, it is really very disappointing to note that we live in a world where we cannot even trust the person taking care of our loved ones, the thing is, more often than not, even if your children are safe from being ill treated, your belongings on the other hand may go missing. Many a nanny has been busted being caught on camera for stealing things.
Who says that the nanny cam is restricted to monitoring nannies in the house alone, small business owners find this a very convenient device for keeping tabs on their employees and this definitely helps in reducing the theft especially if you own a grocery store where slipping in something or the other is common. Putting a nanny cam in the storage room can be a great advantage in apprehending thieves.
Before you use nanny cams, it is important to once again reinforce the value of knowing the laws of your state and abiding by them, you do not want to be in a situation where in the process of trying to protect your self and your family members you find yourself in a situation on the wrong side of the law.

Tips on How to Effectively Hide Your Nanny Cam
Author: adminJan 10
The point of using surveillance equipment such as nanny cams is to perform monitoring of activities surreptitiously. This product has been proven to be a very effective means to keep track of the nanny’s performance and to ensure the safety and security of children. But a nanny cam will only work to your advantage if you know how to use it. Here are tips on the best ways to hide a nanny cam:
Decide on what you want to monitor
Know exactly what it is about your nanny’s activities that you want to monitor. If you want to ensure that your child is not being mistreated, you might want to hide it in the child’s bedroom. If you want to monitor if the nanny is sticking to the required diet of the child, this gadget should be located in the kitchen. If you wish to know the type of recreation the nanny has with your child, a good place to hide a nanny cam is in the living room.
Hide the nanny cam in an object that will not be moved
Choose a place or an object that your nanny will have no reason to move or will find difficult to lift or adjust. An object or a location that is generally permanent will be a good choice, such as the TV or home media center, a large plastic flower pot in the corner or a decorative item such as a sculpture, a pot or a painting. That way, in case someone in the house decides to re-arrange anything, the view from this product is not changed or obstructed.
Avoid hiding the nanny cam in an object that will normally get the attention not just of the nanny but also your child. The cookie jar, for example, is off limits because there’s a good chance someone will come and check its contents. The same is true of the diaper drawer or the remote control container. A live plant pot might be a good hiding place, although someone might just come and pour water into it just to keep the plant healthy. That can easily damage this gadget.
Use a built-in nanny cam
A great way to hide a nanny cam is to keep it in plain sight. This product is built into common objects such as alarm clocks, wall clocks, books, small furniture, small sculptures and stuffed toys. This allows spy equipment to be integrated effortlessly with other everyday objects. As a result, something like a nanny cam is more likely to be ignored, allowing more ‘natural’ behavior on the part of the nanny.

Nanny cams will greatly help in ensuring your children’s safety. You can also efficiently monitor your babysitters and see if they are doing anything wrong to your kids or your possessions. Aside from your babysitters, you can even monitor your housekeepers or handyman while he works, while you attend to your own work. You will know if you are billed because of their lazy and inefficient wok habits or if they are doing their work efficiently. This also increases the security that you have on your home as it functions like your own personal eye around your house.
A few more uses that these cams can do are monitoring your babies. There are different nanny cams available on the market that is specially designed for monitoring babies. There are baby monitors that have audio capabilities and could play built-in tunes. They can also be easily accessed through computers or laptops around the house, just make sure that they are newest models and are hacker-proof.
You can also position them around the house to ensure your teenager’s safety. If you have liquor or gun cabinet around your house you can rig these cams close to them and see if anyone has come close or opened them. You can also rig a nanny cam to your children’s cars and there are a lot of models that have GPS tracking features that can record inside and outside of the car. This is an efficient way of monitoring your child’s driving habits.
If there is any missing food, strange footprints, missing mail and packages, or new but suspicious neighbors, you can rig these cams anywhere around your property and see who is behind these activities. You can monitor your wacky pets that might be stealing the food in the pantry, see who walks around in your tool shed, who gets the mail and packages meant for you and see if your new neighbors are really just that strange.
Choosing a nanny cam considers what you will use it for. As said, there are many different types of nanny cams available and there are a lot of features that each will have. But the more features a nanny cam will have the more expensive it will be so always consult your budget before you order any. You should also consider if they are stand along cameras that function on batteries, which can be best hidden strategically, or if you need all night cameras that function through an electric outlet. Lastly, consider how you will be able to access your nanny cam, if you want it to be accessible by phone, computer, or even both.

How to Choose the Right Nanny Camera for Your Home
Author: adminOct 2
Chances are you’ve heard about nanny cams or nanny cameras. They are usually in the media whenever parents get suspicious about their babysitter mistreating their child. But contrary to common beliefs, nanny cameras are much more than the “camera in the teddy bear” that is the commonly associated image when someone hears the term “nanny cam.”
Nanny cameras can come in all shapes and sizes, and are sophisticated equipment. There are more variations than even a basic TV set, so choosing the right nanny camera for your particular situation is important. After all, once you’ve decided to protect your home and your child, why waste money on something that doesn’t do what you need it to?
One of the first things you’ll need to decide when choosing a nanny cam for your home is whether you want to be able to view that video footage “live”, or if you simply want the camera to record internally, where you can then go and view the playback after the video has already been captured. “Live” nanny cameras transmit your video over the internet, to either another computer (like one at your work or vacation home), and some nanny cameras even stream directly to your smartphone, like the iPhone, Blackberry, or Android phones!
Once you’ve decided how you’d like to get your video, you need to decide whether you want a battery powered or AC outlet powered nanny camera. Depending on the type you choose will often affect the style of camera, which is discussed later. If you choose a battery powered nanny cam, you get the convenience of being able to place it anywhere, with no wires or cables. The downside to battery powered cameras is that depending on the model, the battery might not last very long. The other downside is that due to the amount of power it takes to transmit live video, you won’t be able to get a battery powered camera that transmits video live over the internet (because the battery would likely only last 10-15 minutes).
If you decide to go with an AC outlet powered camera, you’ll never have to worry about battery life. You’ll just want to make sure the device you choose doesn’t look “out of place” with a power cord. For example, you can get a DVD player, iPod docking station, mantle clock, tower fan, or dozens of other common items that already have a power cord built in, to help minimize the suspicion, because people would expect these items to have power cords.
The final, and arguably most important decision when choosing nanny cameras for home is what form factor or style you want – basically what the hidden camera will be built inside. Depending on the location of the camera, you will want to get a nanny cam that blends in with the environment. A camera hidden inside a DVD player wouldn’t exactly blend in in a bathroom, nor would a camera built into a smoke detector blend in in a screened in porch.
