Choosing The Perfect Nanny

The time will eventually roll around when maternity leave is up, and the dread of returning to work has become a reality. At this time, parents may have already been prepared for the designated care of their baby either in the hands of a responsible relative or sitter service. Parents may have already arranged for a nanny service, or a babysitting service, to send a nanny to take care of the baby in their home. A nanny is an excellent choice for a caregiver, as they are exceptionally adept and experienced in childcare. The parents will of course have thoroughly researched and picked the best nanny service available, for their needs and their baby’s needs.

A nanny that has exceptional credentials in the well-borne department should have already been specifically asked for when the nanny service was contacted. The nannies that have years of experiences in caring for newborns have accredited CPR and first aid training certification. These certifications are listed in their applications. The nanny will have taken child development training courses. Past contract terms, that stipulate their former employment as a caregiver to a newborn, will also be listed. The nanny service has already preformed the necessary background check of the nannies that they employ through their services. These checks include criminal background check, sexual predator checks, identity checks, social security checks and driving history and vehicle checks.

The nannies will have already undergone extensive interviews with the nanny service on multiple occasions. Screening is done with the utmost scrutiny, when it comes to childcare services offered by a nanny service. Nannies are also required to show medical proof of negative tests for HIV, have shots current for hepatitis A, B and C. They are required to have a TB shot updated, and require physical exams, to determine further health for working with the service.

The nanny should be chosen by the parents based on if they need a part-time nanny or a full-time nanny. Part-time nannies work no more than just a few hours a day, less than five to be exact. Their work week comes just in under twenty-four hours for working with a family. This is typically because they may have employment elsewhere, or work part-time so they can be home for their own families. Part-time nannies have higher salaries than full-time nannies because they work, and are paid, on an hourly basis. Full-time nannies may be the better choice for the parents who are looking for longer sitting services, at lesser pay. Full-time nannies are paid weekly, and their benefits include health insurance and paid time off.

There are two kinds of full-time nannies. There are full-time live-in nannies and full-time live-out nannies. The live-in nannies stay in the home on a constant schedule, and they are less expensive, because they do not incur living expenses. Live-out nannies are paid a tad more because they do have to travel daily to and from the family home. The parents will have a chance to meet and interview the nanny to help decide on the perfect nanny for their newborn.

How can I find a good babysitter in my area? We live in a large apartment complex, and I know there are no teenage/young adults in our building. I don’t think I really want to go door to door banging and asking if they babysit, lol. What can I do? I don’t want to post an ad on our local bulletin board, possibly attracting every freak out there. Is there an agency (similar to a nanny service) where you can hire sitters for an evening? Any other options?

Babysitting Care Service Review

Care.com is an online babysitting or nanny service that serves to effectively match parents with safe and reliable caregivers. Care.com has been around since 2006 and has established a very good reputation for themselves.

The first thing I noticed when I was first looking around their website is that their main focus seems to be on safety which is the first concern for every parent when trying to hire a caregiver for their child. The founders and staff have really put a lot of effort into ensuring each child’s safety by giving rather extensive profile information, background checks, and reviews of each babysitter or nanny.

When you join Care.com you are gaining access to hundreds (depending on where you live there are more or less) of caregivers that you will be able to browse through in order to find the right match for you and your child. You really do get quite an extensive amount of information on each caregiver so that you can narrow down your options to the candidate that you think will work out best for you.

As you search through you can see a picture of each caregiver as well as their age, years of experience, location, education background, what age group they specialize in, any special skills they may have, as well as a bio written by the caregiver so you can get a glimpse into them as a person. My thought is you can never know too much.

How Does Care.com Work?

The first time you do a search you will see just how large their database of caregivers is…at the time of writing this there are over 3,000 child care providers within 10 miles of me. It can seem a bit overwhelming at first but once you use the “refine your search” feature it gives you a much more specific list of candidates….very convenient!

You will be able to see what days and hours they are available to care for your child which is very convenient as well. Also, find out if they are CPR certified or have first aid training as well which is nice to know in case of an emergency. There is also a section labeled “additional services provided” where you can see what other tasks your potential caregiver is capable of helping you out with such as carpooling, errands, grocery shopping, laundry, cooking, arts and crafts, and more.

Perhaps the best part of the Care.com site is that you can read Care.com reviews from other parents who have hired the babysitters or nannies that you are researching. This is the absolute best way to get a good feel for how they worked out with the children, if they were reliable, on time, and well-liked by the children they cared for. There is nothing like the peace of mind that comes from knowing your child is safe and being taken care of by a professional that has plenty of experience.

Does Care.com Offer Background Checks?

As a member, you also get access to background checks for each caregiver. This is a really great service because some of the other nanny agencies do not give you free background checks as part of their service. Another great thing is that you have access to their references so you can get an outside opinion on your potential caregiver as well.

Care.com has a rather nice and easy to navigate contact system where you can get in touch with the caregiver and begin chatting with them one on one. If you feel comfortable with your correspondence, you can schedule a face-to-face interview to see if they will be the perfect fit for you and your child. One piece of advice that most parents have found helpful is to actually have your child present during the interview to see how well your potential babysitter and your child interact.

Nanny Background Check Service

Nowadays before getting into any sort of relationship with anyone it is always prudent to find out about the people. Whether it is for business reasons, personal reasons and even when looking for a nanny, read about some of the ways you can carry out background checks on a potential nanny.

If you are looking for a nanny background check service then the following article has some ideas that you can try and towards the end you will find mentioned a couple of services that you can use for this search. This is one check that I cannot over emphasize the importance of. This is someone that you are going to be giving access to your house even during periods that you are not there. You really have to make sure that you pick someone that is reliable.

When most people think of checks related to backgrounds what immediately comes to mind is criminal history and activities. Whilst this would form part of the check it is not the only consideration. Criminal records, court records and police records are freely available from a number of people finders on the internet. If you are interested in knowing if the person has a criminal history or not you can either search through these records yourself or use a service that carries out the checks.

Like I said though when looking for a nanny background check service there are things to think about as well. There is the person’s track record as a nanny. How many people has this person has worked for, what was their general conduct during these periods of service and why did they leave their previous employers.

There are recruitment agencies for nannies that will be able to offer you a nanny background check service. In fact you can request that they send you one of their nannies that they have already screened.

Being a parent is great, however it’s hard to leave your children with someone while you are at work. You might want someone to come to your home. In that case, you need a nanny. This way they come to your home and they can help you with other things than just watching your children. They can make your burden light. However, you got to go about finding the best possible ways to finding the best nannies services for Canadian families.

Now, when you call the service, you will tell them what you are looking for. We all have things in mind that we might be looking for. When you get this, you should still screen the candidates. Though, the nanny service will do screening of their own. Now, we aren’t suggesting drug testing and such, trust the nanny service on that, but one of the first things that you should screen is their education. It’s nice to know that they have had training such as first aid and more when they are dealing with children. Maybe even working with a child development degree or something of that nature.

You also want to look into their resume. Their resume can tell you a lot. What you can first gain from a resume is how long they stay with jobs and for what reasons. From this you can tell how dependable they are. You want someone who will stay around for a while and not leave you in a bind.

The other thing that you can find from a resume and that you need to screen is if they have worked with children before and what ages those children were. Children go through different things at different ages, so you need to know that they know how to deal with those things. It’s as simple as that. They need to know how to relate.

Something else that you need to look into is what the others say about them. That is why you need to ask for references. They can tell you how they were on the job. Did they just sit and talk on the phone? Did they have friends over? This is all stuff that you need to think about.

What is their style for planning activities? There are some that think just sitting in front of the television and playing video games is the way to baby sit. However, this isn’t the way. While you discuss this, you can discuss other duties and ask about what schedule they would consider. When you get this out of the way, it is then time to discuss the nitty gritty of pay, housing, and then meeting the children.

The children will be the real deal. As you observe you should be looking for the ways that they discipline and how they interact. If you can’t even interact during the meet and greet then you have problems. They should be willing to jump right in and show you what they are made of. The kids in return should start to warm up to them.

This is a lot to take in. We know this. We have all been through it one time or another. It might be hard, but you really have to go through this lengthy process. After all, you really want to know who you have hired to care for your children. You want to know that they will stay a long time for children **** the constant flow of new nannies and so much more. So, be cautious as it’s one thing for dog sitting, but you can’t take the chance of going wrong when it comes to your children.

It might finally be time to go back to work. Or work might be calling you, demanding more and more hours of your time, even while working remotely. No matter the reason, parents often experience a moment where they realize that as much as they would love to stay home and raise their child the demands of life – often those demands that are financial – require getting out there and jumping back into the workforce again.

For the right kind of care, the more one-on-one personal attention that you would hope to give your child personally, nanny care is definitely the best option out there. And there is a lot to be said for how effective nanny care actually is. This way, your child is able to socialize, but to not have to be exposed to a larger peer group where there are more negative influences. At the same time, your child gets a great deal more attention, and is not at risk for catching a nasty case of chicken pox or the flu from being around a room full of children who might not be getting the best care at home. For those parents who want to make sure that their children are healthy and happy, a nanny is often the best choice.

But where to start on the search for someone to help take care of your children? Some people opt for a quick call to a nanny agency, and while this is often a great choice, sometimes these days it makes more sense to go to an online nanny service and not pay high fees.

If you are going to be scheduling a nanny interview once you’ve decided on nanny care, it is important that you are thinking well in advance what you’d like to be asking. You can use an online nanny agency’s hiring tools that include interview questions and reference check forms and nanny background check.

Once you’ve actually picked out the right child nanny, then it’s time to get ready. If you are going to have a live-in nanny, then this means preparing a living space and figuring out how meals and other aspects of the job are going to work. If you are going to have nanny care full-time or just a few days a week, it means preparing your child for this.
