If you are a parent trying to find childcare solutions, one of the biggest issues almost certainly has to do with how to identify a nanny or another form of childcare that you are able to have faith in. Lots of people will choose to make use of a childcare professional business to identify a competent individual as the childcare professional services will do a fantastic job of screening the people before you would actually get to the point of asking for a conversation with an individual.

When examining all of the ways one can discover a childcare professional, do not forget that there are other childcare choices to contemplate. Naturally, you could potentially choose the route of a daycare, but many choose to have that one-on-one attention that the nanny or even baby sitter can provide for your kid.

A number of people today employ a great au pair service. An au pair is generally a youthful girl coming from another country who has a motivation to arrive to the United States for work in order to feel the way of life and the chance to travel just a bit wherever possible. Generally, an au pair would work much less hours and have a lesser amount of obligations in contrast to an experienced nanny. Lots of people have experienced good results by incorporating of the national au pair agencies that are offered.

There are many points to consider as you attempt to look for a childcare professional for the little one or children. Do spend some time to examine every single feasible option and applicant for that placement. Additionally, you will need to check all references and whenever you can perform a trial time period or even a couple of babysitting days using the potential childcare professional before hiring. Baby sitters are usually used to parents concerns with regards to their kids, and so an expert childcare provider ought to be extremely helpful in terms of putting your mind at ease prior to making that concluding decision.

Were you aware that right now there isn’t any national or state regulations concerning babysitters or nannies? What it boils down to is that almost anyone can apply for a nanny position just by calling themselves a nanny by trade. How scary is that? This shows the importance of checking up on the people who are looking after your children. Parents needs to familiarize themselves with performing background checks and the steps involved.

Most people run into the problem of nannies providing their own references, and that leads to them choosing previous employers or just about anybody who would portray them positively. These are not exactly the best recommendation you can get. That’s why I recommend having background checks done on all potential nannies. Here are a few other steps you should take when performing a background check on a nanny:
What you want to do is get at least three references from your nanny and get in contact with every single one of those contacts. You want to find out as much information and details as possible. Try to ask questions about the length of their employment and the quality of her work. Ask for a reason why their business relationship ended and if there were any problems at all. Most importantly, find out if they would ever hire that nanny again. If the references your nanny provided don’t give you as much information as you would have originally liked, it is perfectly acceptable to ask for more references. You’ll run into this problem more commonly if you can’t get a hold of a reference on the nanny’s list. Once you found a nanny that meets most of your early qualifications, have her fill out an application as she would at any other job. Ask for information such as her date of birth, driver’s license number, any previous names, and names of the last five employers besides those earlier references. You should also get the names, addresses and phone numbers of close relatives, colleges or schools attended and dates as well as her last three home addresses. Basically, I would ask to see just about anything else you feel would be important. Before you run a background check, inform her you will be doing so and get her to sign a waiver authorizing that you can. This shouldn’t be a problem at all to a trustworthy nanny. It’s the ones who are hesitant on giving you all of this information that you need to be worried about. Once you get all of her information, you can start contacting everyone on the list to verify they are who she said they were. Start with relatives first then work your way to previous employers. Ask them if the information she provided you was indeed true and ask for their opinions on her. If you think you would feel more comfortable collecting as much information as possible, then by all means do so. There are a number of different background check services available online for you to use. I know a few families who even hired a personal investigator to look into a nanny’s background. They aren’t too expensive depending on how deep you want them to look into her background.

Nanny care is in an important business. Nanny care goes above and beyond regular babysitting, and for this reason a nanny has to be equipped with skills that are above and beyond. Although you are not the parent of the children that you are caring for, you will still have a large impact on their development because you will be an important person in their life. Because of this, you want to make sure that your interactions with the children you are caretaking are positive ones that are going to promote positive and healthy emotional growth in the children. A nanny that is more knowledgeable about these kinds of topics will not only create better nanny care with happier children, but an employee that is more attractive to a family.

What is attachment?

An attachment is a bond between two people. Attachment theory was developed in 1969 by a psychologist named John Bowlby who believed that the attachments that humans make in the beginning of their lives will impact the kind of person they will become later in life. These interactions that are experienced in early life will impact everything about who we are, down to our personality and our relationships. With that information, you can truly understand how important a positive attachment can be. As a nanny you are one of the primary caregivers to a child and therefore you will have a strong impact on their future self.

How can I, as a nanny, create a positive attachment?

This is an important question. With Bowlby’s theory, you want to strive to create what he calls a secure attachment. There are a few factors that can help create this with a child. The child needs to feel that the caregiver is a safe person and someone they can go to for comfort and affection when they need it. At the same time, this person is not smothering. They allow the child to explore the world and make mistakes at times, but when the child needs comforting, this person is there. Normal reactions in the child would be that the child wants to be near the caregiver, but is not overly dependant on him or her. Basically this involves being a reliable, loving figure in the child’s life, but not being too overprotective or overbearing. It is normal for a child to want to explore the world and learn about it. At times, the world can be a scary and unpleasant place and that’s when the child will seek solace in a parent or nanny.

You don’t have to be an expert in psychology to be a great nanny. However, it can enhance your skills as a caregiver to learn about some of the theories out there that involve children and development. If you have chosen to begin a career in nanny care, you undoubtedly have a passion for children. Brushing up on your education about children can do wonders for your skills and for your career.

Are there differences or do people just choose to say one or the other? I’m a nanny (that’s what the parents call me), but I don’t know why that’s any different than just saying our babysitter…

Travis Anderson asked:

It has long been held that we are the Children and the nation is the Motherland. People often say that they are the proud Son/Daughter of their nation as well.

Yet…

Why do we go off into war with a desire to protect it? Is it the child’s job to protect the parent?

Why do we elect officials to watch over it and guide it? Is it the child’s job to choose babysitters for the parent?

If we are the children, we might make excuses for parents bad behavior and accept the actions of our parents as the best or even perfect. I have seen many who minimize the problems the United States suffers by calling anyone who points them out traitors or anti-American and keeping those who fail at their jobs in office.

I hold that we are in fact-the parents of a nation.

If that is true, then it would make sense that we go off into war to protect our collective child.

If that is true, then it would make sense that we elect others to watch it and care for it in our stead.

If this is true, then it’s our responsibility to point out any bad behaviors or ails and boot out those who allowed or even caused them to occur on their watch.

Doesn’t it make more sense that we stop calling ourselves children of a nation and instead recognize that we are in fact the parents of it?
Delina_M-I think you need to read the entire question…

How to Become a Nanny

For those people that enjoy being around children learning how to become a nanny may be a rewarding profession. While there is no legal limitation or requirements to being a nanny or care provider of children, you will get a better position if you have some type of certification. Taking course geared toward caring for young children will also help make you better prepared if unexpected situations arise. A nanny position generally requires your service a lot more than a typical babysitting job.

There are many technical schools and community organizations that offer classes in child care. You can choose to take only one or two classes or go for a degree in child care. In addition to the standard classes you can benefit from taking some basic first aid courses. These will include CPR as well as first aid. Giving CPR to a child or infant is a lot different than for an adult. Having this certification will make you look more qualified to a potential employer.

Some nanny positions require that the individual live in with the family. If this is what you are considering you can look for positions all across the country as well as abroad. For those positions in other countries you should have a good knowledge of the native language. This is also true if the country you currently live in was not your native country of birth. To be considered for a nanny, you have to speak the native language well enough to be understood. Having a driver’s license and a vehicle may also be a requirement by the people that hire you.

The job description for a household nanny is extremely vague and may incorporate some skills not actually related to child care. Some employers expect their nanny to do some household cleaning in addition to watching the children. When considering this as a career choice you may want to look into the agencies that hire out their employees as nannies. You may find you have more job choices by using a service than by trying to find work on your own. This is a field that is open to all types of people regardless of their level of education.

With the objective of improving the childcare and education provided to children, the nurseries now provide opportunities for jobseekers to work with them and gain plenty of benefits, not only financially, but for their careers as well. This is why more people are now looking into nursery jobs, even those who have no background or any prior experience in the field. There is nothing wrong with this, of course. Although some companies require some higher qualifications for certain position levels, there are job posts in nurseries that can be occupied by someone who does not qualify for the higher positions. These job posts are called nursery assistant jobs.

Nursery assistant jobs are also concerned with caring for the children but only when supervised by a more senior officer. Some nurseries may require qualifications for these positions, but some may also take anyone in, as long as the necessary traits and skills are present in the applicant. As a nursery assistant progresses and gains more experience, he or she gains more chances of getting promoted to a higher position level.

As a nursery assistant, it is natural to eye a higher position level, which naturally pays well, of course. The opportunities present for higher officers are also enticing. To qualify for a nursery manager position from a nursery assistant job, a worker has to gain more skills. Communication needs become even more important, because a nursery manager will have more exposure to interacting with parents and discussing with them. The people skills of a nursery manager aspirant are very important. More skills will come into play as well, such as the ability to discern and detect problems and concerns, and to respond appropriately to these. A nursery assistant also needs to develop managerial skills and gain sufficient knowledge about how to run the nursery as a whole. After all, nursery managers also have operational responsibilities.

One of the biggest differences between a nursery manager’s job and that of a nursery assistant is that a nursery manager will most likely be faced with the task to care and handle children with special needs. These needs can be anything from psychological, mental, emotional, and physical troubles. A nursery assistant who is aspiring for a higher position should keep this in mind. He or she should be ready for this additional challenge and should also be capable of handling the situation.

The best way to prepare for a promotion to become a nursery manager is to talk to your supervisor and ask about the areas that you still have to work on. Ask what skills are lacking in you so you can work on improving them. Progressing to a nursery manager position is a privilege for all nursery assistants. Those who are up for the challenge should work really hard to reach the next level in their careers. After all, the benefits and opportunities waiting for them are far greater, so more effort and dedication is definitely called for. Don’t worry, though, it will all be worth it. The higher your position is, the more you can influence a lot of children, and help out those who are suffering through problems. The emotional reward is also quite fulfilling, you will see.
