As an employer of a live-in nanny it is essential for you to design a set of rules for your nanny to get the desired services. These rules will clear out any issues regarding the role of the nanny which otherwise may create confusion. These ground rules will also help in defining the relationship between you and your nanny, thus avoiding any kind of misunderstandings.

Read on regarding rules for your live-in nanny. It is recommended to include these rules in your nanny contract or agreement.

Define nanny’s roles and responsibilities

Clearly explain to your nanny her duties, roles and responsibilities. Set appropriate rules for child care. For instance, you may set rules such as keeping the child and his room neat and clean, feeding him with fresh food and so on. Also, if your nanny agrees to perform housekeeping duties, discuss the concerned rules with respect to laundry, dish-washing, ironing or any other related activities.

Daily schedules

Design a schedule for meals, activities and sleep time. Make sure that the child feels comfortable with the schedule. Assign time limits on child care and other housekeeping duties. Once you have determined your nanny is effective and responsible in fulfilling her duties, you can allow her to be more flexible with the schedule.

Spell out the house rules

Discuss the house rules with your nanny and let her know if she is restricted from entering or using certain areas of your home, like your bedroom or home office. Define rules for maintaining tidiness in her room. Also, make her aware of where security and emergency tools can be found. Be sure to explain how and when to use them.

Issues regarding discipline of children

Encourage her to teach discipline to your children. Ask her to be consistent when it comes to disciplining the children. However, the nanny should not engage in any kind of physical punishment should the child resort to undisciplined behavior. Speak to your nanny and design an effective management system to deal with such issues.

Design rules for nanny’s behavior

Designing rules for a nanny’s behavior may sometimes interfere with her personal interests. Though it may seem inappropriate, making your views clear is mandatory to avoid certain problems that may arise later.

Are visitors (to meet nanny) allowed?

Decide if you wish to allow your nanny to have any visitors. As your live-in nanny stays in your home, you may have to think about her overnight visitors and be careful to set strict rules for such visits. Ensure that your nanny is clear about what is acceptable and not acceptable with respect her visitors.

Rules for safe driving

At times, your nanny may have to take your children out. In order to ensure the safety of your child, define driving-related rules like obeying traffic rules, taking care of the fuel needs, maintaining speed limits, buckling children into their seats and so on.

Encourage your nanny to follow the above mentioned rules. Arrange monthly meetings with her to discuss any issues related to child care. If necessary, make changes accordingly and set new rules.

I know from experience that it’s tough to get kids to bed when you babysit, especially if you’re babysitting those kids for the first time. How to do it depends a lot on the age and temperament of the kid, as well as the number of kids you’re dealing with at once. Here are some tips, though.

First of all, make sure that you know the child’s (or children’s) bedtime. Ask their parents before the parents leave. Also, make sure that the kids are aware that you know their bedtime, so that they don’t think they can get away with telling you otherwise. If you think back to when you were a child, you certainly tried to trick your babysitters into letting you stay up later. So if you did it, you’re certainly going to face that problem when babysitting kids yourself.

If you’re babysitting in the home for the first time, but intend to do so on a regular basis, one technique you can use is the bargain for buddies technique. In other words, if you want to make friends with the kids to make future babysitting for them easier, you might be willing and able to extend their bedtimes slightly the first time around. Be sure that you have the parents’ permission to do that, though, and also be aware that it could come back to haunt you on future trips to that house, depending on how you do it.

Aside from that, it can help to set up a routine that’s conducive to putting the kids to bed. For example, don’t have them dancing around to loud music five minutes before bedtime. Instead, lead up to bedtime with quiet games, soft music or kid-friendly TV programs. That way, it will be easier for them to drift off to sleep. The more subdued they are, the faster they’ll be able to fall asleep and not bother you the rest of the night.

Finally, remember that, as a sitter, you sometimes need to pick your battles. If the child wants something before bed, such as a glass of water, it might be better to just get it, rather than arguing for hours. It’ll save time and make you look more like a friend in the child’s eyes. If you’re trying to get a regular job out of this, you obviously need to be liked by the child, but also set firm rules to make sure he or she stays in line. Both the parents and the kids have to like you, so if you can achieve that, you’ll be much more likely to keep the gig.

Lower back pain is something chronic in nature and it at times becomes completely difficult to get rid of it permanently. Though this is chronic in nature, this chronic characteristic can be brought down to rest if you give up the habit of sitting down for long hours. Lots of people think that sitting gives comfort which is in fact true in some way.

But there are not lots of people who are aware of the kind of back problems one could go through if this seating is done on an ongoing or continuous business. We would, in this article, look at some of the tips to get rid of this problem.

It is very normal to sit down on the floor but it becomes kind of a problem if you do not sit on the floor with a help of a back support. Sitting without a back support will tend to curve your back and that would cause lot of problems or pain when you try to stand erect or do some stretching exercises. It is always better that, when you are sitting on a floor, you rest your back against the wall. The wall will give your back support and will ensure less strain to that part of your body.

Do some massages and relaxation exercises. Ask someone to massage your back if you feel slight discomfort or pain in that region. Try to take adequate amount of sleep and never miss out on the opportunity to lie down on the floor whenever you get it.

Another way to get rid of this problem is to avoid sitting on the floor as much as possible. If there is a need to sit, then you must go for the couch or the chair rather than sitting on the floor because the couch or chair will have a back rest which will give some support to your back.

super girl asked:

i am a single mom of three boys and i really need a break.but dont have a babysitter and have no family here with me.my exs family are not close to my children .they chose not to.and i need to be able to relax sometimes.my day goes waking up at 5am 5 days a week so they can go to day care and i go to work.i pick them up cook, pick up after them.when they go to sleep im so tired that i just lay down and sometimes i just fall asleep and dont notice it,sounds crazy but is true.since i cant go and date anybody,or just go out and chill by my self.any tips on how to pamper my self and still be a good mom.i love my children they mean the world to me.i just need a break.
i have small children.theyre 3, 2, and 6 months old

Who should pay for babysitter?

EJ asked:

I am dating a single mother. I would like to take her out for dates more often, but she expects me to pay for the babysitter whenever we go out. I think that if I invite her someplace, she should pay for the sitter while I handle the other expenses. I also feel that she can decline the invite if she can’t afford a sitter.
At times I have offered to pay for the sitter, but I can’t afford to all the time. She pays her sitter $15 an hour for one toddler, who is in bed the entire time.
Also, it should be noted that she chose to be a single mother. She became pregnant through artificial insemination while she was single. I feel the child-related costs are hers.
This has only become a problem recently because she complains that we don’t go out alone often enough, but honestly, I can’t afford many dates when the cost $200 a night.
We go out during the day time at least three times a week for family-friendly activities, which we take her son to. I foot the bill for all 3 of us. Also, I cook dinner for us nightly. I’m just looking for a way to spend special time with her. We do movies and games at the house or even a drive-in movie where the baby can sleep. I just want adult time once in a while.
Also, the sitter is one that she picked by going through a 4-stage interview process. She is very particular about who watches her son and how well the person is paid.

charlottesparkles asked:

I need a safe, reliable, flexible babysitter for my five year old daughter. I have to be at work at 4am, and my days off rotate monthly. I need someone near the airport who is willing to take her to Scenic Heights Elementary or is on the bus route. She will be no trouble on weekdays, because she will sleep until you get her up for school. On weekends I get off at 1230. She will sleep til 8 or nine so it’s really only 3 or 4 hours of actually watching her. She is very easy to take care of. I just need someone close to where we live (darn gas prices) and who is willing to work with my ever changing schedule. PLEASE HELP!! I am desperate!

br00klyngirlnyc asked:

We are picking up our babysitter in the evening to watch our two kids while we go out. We will probably get home around 1 or 2 am. I usually offer to drive her home but this time we offered her to sleep in the extra bedroom and I will take her home in the morning. Is she on the clock the entire time she is here? Do we have to pay her for the time she is sleeping?

Confinement nannies are a great convenience. You know that having some professional help around the house would be beneficial after having a baby. There is also great security in having someone with professional experience with newborn babies tending to your health and that of your newborn. Even with all of those facts clearly in mind, it can be difficult to work the expense of a confinement nanny into the budget.

Things may be tight, but there are many reasons that you should make every attempt to get the nanny into the books at least for a couple months after having a new baby.

What You Don’t Know

What you don’t yet know about the confinement period could hurt you or your new baby. If this is your first time bringing a new baby home, then there are lots of things that are going to come up along the way. Some of these things will confuse and shock you while others scare you. Hopefully, nothing serious will ever happen with your baby, but you can never be sure of that.

If you have had children before, then you can’t assume that you know everything there is to know about caring for a new baby. No two babies are the same and your experiences in the past do not guarantee what it is going to be like taking care of this new baby. Things may very well occur that you are not prepared for.

Ask yourself a few questions and seriously think about your answers:

1. If your baby stopped breathing just for a moment, what should you do?
2. If you see something unusual in your baby’s diaper, how will you know if it is something normal or cause for concern?

3. Would you know the difference between a baby who has stopped eating properly and a baby who is just naturally starting to sleep through the night and become more independent?

The great thing about having a confinement nanny on hand is they have seen the behavior of many other babies, have helped many other frightened and unsure parents, and are trained to spot potential problems before it is too late. They will assure you when something is normal and help you determine when treatment or medical is needed.

What you don’t know about taking care of a newborn will be known by your confinement nanny. That is a great comfort whether this is your first child or your fifth child.

Loving Parenthood

Having a confinement nanny on hand could make the difference between truly loving your role as a new parent and feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, and exhausted with this new phase of your life. You may have heard stories from other mothers of sleep deprivation and postpartum depression, but that doesn’t have to be the experience of every new mother.

When you hire a confinement nanny you get more sleep because you have someone you can trust helping care for your new baby. If you are breastfeeding there will still be feedings to wake up for, but you will still get a lot more rest than mothers who have to do everything on their own during confinement.

It is difficult for many families to clear the budget for a confinement nanny, but the care of mother and child during this period is extremely important.

Newborn Coughs and Sneezes

Parents of a newborn have so much to worry about. They worry if the baby is getting the right foods and enough of it. They worry about the baby settling into a regular sleeping schedule. They worry about the baby being safe, being entertained, their mental development, their physical development, and the list goes on. One of the main concerns is whether the baby is getting sick and what to do when it happens. There are many ways to help your baby stay well and by doing these; you will have one less thing to worry about.

The first step is to remember that your baby is going to get sick regardless of how much precaution you take. It just happens. Keeping your newborn as healthy as possible is a great way to ensure that when they do get sick, they are able to recover quickly. Breast-feeding is thought to be the best method for helping your baby develop a strong immune system in the first few weeks of its life.

In order to give yourself peace of mind it is important to find a good doctor that you can trust and can see your baby right away when they become ill. For babies, treating the illness right away is always the safest method. Because they are still developing, it can be very easy for something simple to turn into something much more serious. The faster you can find a cure for your baby’s sickness the better. Scheduling regular checkups are a great way to prevent illnesses and complications.

Try your best to keep your child away from other that are sick. Even if you must stay at home to avoid a sick child or adult, it is the best for your child. Of course, this is not always possible so you just have to do your best to keep your baby as healthy as possible by feeding the correctly, keeping them warm, and making sure they get plenty of rest. Rest is very important and just like anyone else; getting the right amount of sleep is always good. The most important thing to remember is that you can’t protect your child from everything, but being prepared and knowing what to do can make a big difference. If you do all the right things, there is nothing more you need to worry about because you have done all that you could.

Taking Care of a Newborn Baby

One of the greatest news a woman can get is that she is pregnant. This is because she will bring forth a new being into the world. Babies are the cutest things found on earth and it is important to start preparing for them after a few months of pregnancy. This ensures that once the baby has been born they have a comfortable environment where they will grow to be happy and healthy kids. Some of the things you need to get before the baby comes are the sleeping area, feeding utensils and clothes. You can go for a scan to find out the *** of the baby if you do not want to get the right clothes. However, there are some unisex clothes if you do not want to find out the *** of the baby.

Babies spend most of their time sleeping. Do not interrupt the child’s sleep for any reason, as this is important for healthy growth. Provide a comfortable place where they can sleep without any problem. Do not overdress the baby as this can cause them to be uncomfortable. Check the baby’s diaper often to ensure the child remains dry at all times. When the child cries, it can either be an indication they are uncomfortable, hungry or wet. If you feed the child, change them and try to put them to sleep but there are still crying you should visit a doctor, as something could be disturbing the baby.

Doctors normally advice mothers to feed the newborn babies solely on ****** milk for around 6 months. This helps to boost the child immunity system to avoid infections and other diseases that children suffer from. There are vaccinations the kids have to get after they are born. Ensure you take the child for all the vaccinations as this helps to enhance the health of the child.
