Alright, so you decided you need to install spy cameras to monitor the new nanny. It’s not that you suspect she will run away with your valuables the moment you turn your back but you’re worried because you really don’t know anything about her except what’s written on her resume.
Parents who must resort to hiring other people to look after their children while they work have this kind of paranoia where they worry about their kid’s well-being and have doubts about their hired helper’s trustworthiness. This is but natural since a parent’s instinct is to be protective of her young. However, present situations often require both parents to work and so no one is left at home with the children. The last resort is to look for someone else to look after the children: other family members, relatives, friends, or in most cases, nannies.
Whoever you decide is trustworthy enough to look after the children, it is still wise to take necessary precautions and set up spy cameras. These devices will let you know the things going on in your home when you are not around, observe your children, see how they are being cared for and if they are well cared for. Knowing these things and being able to monitor your kids even when you are not physically there with them can bring great relief. It is also beneficial to your work because if you are not anxious and stressed, you can focus more on what you’re doing and become more productive and competitive.
Okay, so where should you set up spy cameras at home so you can stay on top of things?
The first thing you must figure out is where will your kids and nanny be most of the time? The kitchen, play room, living room, kids’ bedroom, out back, etc. Figuring out where they will be most of time can help you get an idea where to set up the hidden camera. Toddlers will mostly have to spend more time in play rooms, older kids in the living room watching TV, etc. and where the kids are, the nanny will be. You can choose a covert camera that can be installed easily in these places or better yet, choose a device designed to blend well in these areas: a wall clock, picture frame, a toy, DVD player, radio, a decorative object like plastic plants or a painting. If you take the time to research, you will find that these spy cameras come in all imaginable disguises.
Once you figure out the device’s ideal location in the house, the next thing to consider is the availability of power sources. Being electronic devices, these covert cameras need electricity to run. If the device must be plugged in, it should be set near a power outlet which still allows for good line of sight i.e. atop a table or on a shelf. There are also devices operated by batteries which are convenient if the room where you need to set the camera up does not have a power source or you want a device that is portable.
You should also take note of the device’s specified viewing angle to ensure that you don’t place the device too high or too low and to make sure that the camera does not miss any important happenings. Some devices come with adjustable viewing angle but you may not know this unless you read the manual thoroughly.
When considering where to set up the hidden camera, another important thing to think about is whether to get a wired or wireless device. Wireless spy cameras are recommended because these devices are the easiest to set up and operate. They are usually self-contained as well and have built-in DVRs (digital video recorders) and record footage to an SD card. Wired devices are a bit complicated when it comes to setting them up as you have to run cables and wires and have them hidden thoroughly so as to prevent others from detecting it.
